So, does anyone know if there is a difference in the way .48 would handle this as opposed to the way .45 handles it in the tutorial? I am getting very different results toward the center of the object - the pieces that you would expect at the center are just a solid white mass - just after the first path difference is applied. I am fairly proficient at inkscape though not an expert.
@abichler I answered my own question.. I nstalled .45.1 in parallel to .48.1 and it works perfectly in .45.1 but gets the other effect I mentioned in my prior post in .48.1
