Ever since FF 7, ppl have been putting GIANT and i mean GIANT swords into they're RPG's cos they think they'll get good reviews and stuff, i mean they do but yeah, this game was made by SQUEENIX so yahz :D

@motherofgod4 this game was NOT made by Square Enix!!! It was made by Mistwalker. Also big swords have always been popular in japan.

Cloud's sword is one of the more iconic examples though, I'll give you that. However even that one was probably inspired by other swords in anime like Guts's sword in Beserk.

I think it's interesting that Kaim's character design changed between this sequence and after the opening credits. At first, I didn't realize it, but his armor is different. Either he changed his armor on the monorail/armored car, or the developers redid his character design after the opening sequence. Compare this video to video 4 of the walk-through. It's also possible that they redid the whole design after the first battle sequence.

interesting. i almost thought this was non-japanese rpg when i saw the trailer, perhaps for the same reason the game never made it big: the main characters don't look hot enough. oh well :-/

Maybe it didn't sell as much as it could've but the game is just a gem among jrpgs..mainly because of the storyline and characters.

It was def developed with a western target audience in mind. So a more mature main char with depth instead of a flimsy teen
