the flash isn't a good warning for an attack. those kids will be burned the instant the flash goes off. Fortunatly, we have good radar warning and if one is far enough away, they may see teh contrails of the missiles as they enter teh atmosphere and have time to at least attempt to hide

Meanwhile, Russia was building deep, deep subway stations. There would have been a half hour warning at least and they had a better handle on how to survive a nearby blast. But Americans were moving out to the suburbs and exurbs, which was a much better strategy in the long run. What makes America safest now is that people are very spread out.

THIS IS DUMB! duck and cover? there are 3 stages of an atomic bomb... yeh right u can duck and cover within 2 or 3 seconds!! an atomic bomb can destroy anything miles away from it. it can heat up to 1,000,000 degrees. Not only that if u survive the nuclear winter(Radiation field) last up to 100 years witch can kill all life!so whatsthe pont of this?

This is completely untrue. I happened to find out that ducking and covering yourself wouldn't protect you at all from an attack. It would kill you just as badly.
