Fucking morons thinking he's Ben Wallace smh. Wallace got to wear he is because of hard work and strength and even then, he's still one of the worst starters in the league now. Biyombo just has a decent wingspan. He's a one and doner like Thabeet
Ben Wallace is one of the worst starters in the league now because he's 37 years old. Biyombo also has a clear advantage on Big Ben in height (they're both listed at 6'9", but Wallace is really closer to 6'7") and length. I also don't think anyone thinks he'll necessarily be another Ben Wallace, but he's closer to the Wallace spectrum of things (All D, no O) than Amare (All O, no D).
I honestly think he faked some of these misses just to meet up with Cho and play for MJ. Welcome to Charlotte Biyombo a place where NBA fans forget has A LOT of basketball tradition in the NBA.
Based on this video, he looks like he is trying too hard and maybe a little nervous. If I was working out in front of NBA Scouts and Executives to get drafted, I might be a little nervous. There is no doubt he is long and athletic.
@gman5541 Totally disagree. If there is one skill in basketball that can be learned its shooting. You can't teach height or athleticism but you can teach a dude to shoot.
@draber12 Funny thing is @gman5541 actually says "Uh, you can teach jump shooting." You respond saying "Totally disagree. If there is one skill in basketball that can be learned its shooting." I guess you just assumed he said you CAN'T teach jump shooting. OR was what he was trying to say?
Saer Sene was EXACTLY like him, except that Sene was a legit 7 footer. 20-30 should be were he gets drafted. Glad my Knicks arent in the lottery cause i'm sure they'd be dumb enough to draft him.
@vortexmikey exactly he's 18...if he cant shoot freethrows and make some shots from 5 feet, odds are he never will. Might be the next Andris Biedrins :D
i think beat fit for him is on d knicks...whr thr would b know pressure 4 him to score the ball...n im sure if would hav had him over jarred jefferies he would hav dunk tha ball...
Agreed that he's raw but, you can't teach size. On a team like Golden State, you wouldn't need him to score. Rebounds and blocked shots! That's it! And that's what Biyombo does best. Mark Jackson is a player's coach and would do a nice job coaching him up. Best fit for Biyombo is definitely the Golden State Warriors.
I wouldn't draft him in the lottery if I thought he would be Ben Wallace 2.0. Ben Wallace lost so many games for the Pistons down the stretch with turnovers, bad free throw shooting, etc. I WOULD draft him in the 5-8 range if I thought he would become Ben Wallace with a limited post game and a decent free throw percentage. And no stone hands.
@gewg401c For the record, I like Bismack and think he's arguably the 3th best pick in the draft. I just don't like seeing people saying "Draft him! He's like Ben Wallace!" Ben Wallace was an enormous liability in the playoffs, only had 4 really good years, was a late bloomer, etc.
Wow... he's quite a gamble, but a lot of potential if he could learn to shoot and a team is willing to risk it. I would risk it, and I hope the Warriors do, but I think they want someone that can play center this year, not 2013. He's only 18, so he should still grow or at least fill out and become less awkward.
I don't understand why people are getting worked up over his shooting ability/touch around the rim, that's not his game. He's a defensive guy, he's gonna anchor the paint and crash the boards, not be expected to score.
That being said, I think he'll be drafted way too high, thus having unreal expectations placed upon him.
@TKLAX831 Thats exactly his type of game, he is not going to be a double digit scorer maybe 8 pts 6 reb a night as a backup, he is just too green right now.
@mitched349 let's hold up on anointing him the next ben wallace. until he wins 4 defensive player of the years and single-handedly shuts down a prime shaq, he's just bismack biyombo, the athletic freak that clanks 5 foot hook shots.
p.s. if you ever have the chance to see ben wallace pre-game, he knocks down all of these shots with ease. he legitimately has range out to almost the 3-point line.
He still has a long way before develoipng into a NBA forward. He has potential to become an average offensive threat at best. He needs work on his shooting touch and ambidexterity, I feel.
Man, look at that wingspan :O Amazing. His nickname should be Mr. Evolution Ha. Monkey arms, this guy can climb on trees I tell yeah. Still not a number one fan, but he is very interesting prospect.
I really don't see why people are getting so worked about this. We knew going into this that he wasn't a shooter. They should of done something more practical like a 1v1 game or see his rebound/boxing out foot work or something. What a waste of time.
hope at least NOW you understand he's a bust..
