  • I love this recording.

  • Moin, Moin from Texas!

If you like the Golden entertainment of the 1920s, you might like Brendan McNally's dark comic novel "Germania" (Simon & Schuster, 2009), about the Flying Magical Loerber Brothers, four somewhat magical, Jewish vaudeville entertainers and onetime child stars who were the toast of Berlin before WWII and who reunite during the surreal, three-week "Flensburg Reich" of Admiral Doenitz, Hitler's very unlucky successor.

  • Yes it is!

    Aloha from Hawaii!

  • GREAT performance of quite a haunting tango-lied, as you say. Thank you VERY much for sharing this with us!!!!!

  • The recording was made for Grammophon on; 10. Oct.1934 in Berin from the Film: "Die englische Heirat" Music by Franz Doelle/ Lyrics by Charles Amberg.

  • Thank you for the precise date.

    The remaining information can be

seen on the label of the record

    - in the video.

  • @Rudipolt Is this one of the movies in which Adolf Wohlbruck (better known later in the West as Anton Walbrook) was her co-star?

  • Jurek, the history that you include with this song unfortunately reflects the fate of many great performers of this period. It is particularly tragic since she seems to have been not only very talented but also very beautiful. Beauty sometimes carries with it burdens too much to bear.

  • That's what I feel, too. Thank you.

  • Königlich gut und natürlich bürgerlich im guten Ton der Melodie und des Lebensgefühls dass es ausstrahlt. :)

  • Me, well I'm interested only in this lovely tango, and, "Renate Muller, a great singer.*****

  • Did you know that a couple of jews ban red light district in The Netherlands? They say that they will continue to let red lighted districts banned in Germany and France even this year. I think this will happen. Certainly with what they have to tell..It has so many sides, but I trust the Jews completely. For it matters to me it does not even bother if they get their family names back on those corners.. Why? I can't explain it to a stranger anyhow! Greeting to all nice Folks been here!

  • Thanks for this 3TREitem; my only trying to defuse the smouldering hate-bomb which started all this nightmare in the first place. Life has taught me that rash generalisations are crazy, and if there was an object-lesson to evince this, it is what happened to the Jews per se, when not everyone of them was either a Bolshevist or an anti-German. For goodness sakes, many were members of the German upper class, and they detested the murderous Reds as much as everyone else did.

  • the nazi party ruined so many lives . god rest her soul. she was lovely thanks

  • Very lovely tribute to a great lady!

  • So beautiful, thank you! Do you know where I could find the lyrics?

  • auch wieder eine grossartige Deutsche Kuenstlerin..... ach die Lieder damals!!!

  • liebeeeeeeeeeee ist eine geheimnis.lalalala.wunderschönes lied.schön das diese lieder hier eingestellt wurden.

  • She makes me cry

  • I never knew about her tragic story.

  • dinti26....you are most welcome! I always enjoy talking with people with an interest in the early days of the Third Reich and it's many interesting personalities.

  • My info comes from "Leaders and Personalities of the Third Reich" by Charles Hamlton. Bender Publishing,1984.

  • Thanks!!!

  • Hitler actually visited her in the hospital and brought her flowers. Her lover was Karl Simon, a jewish millionare.

  • WHO told you those nonsense? Read the Book about her live!!!

  • I am not a fan of Miss. Muller, so I won't read a book on her. But, I have read a LOT about der Fuhrer. My info comes from a book called "Leraders & Personalities of the Third Reich, by Charles Hamilton, Bender publishing, 1984. Of course, books have been wrong before.

  • Mis. Muller was a friend of Josef Goebbles. She threw herself in front of Hitlers car in 1937 in protest od the ss maltreating her lover, a jew.Died 10/7/37.

  • very intresting.

from where do you got this information?

  • A jew could do no good no more. Stop telling jewish lies..

  • Schweigen bleiben...Schwule!

  • No, and my family had high positions in Europe during war. My grandmother and father who are death now told me 2 thing to think about. 1- why should Renate care about that lover while many oncles and nephews where dying at the battlefield. She would care for her lover in such a tragic situation? 2- my father said that it would be nice to tell the family explaining from the Mullers would be better to explain to Romy Schneider and her fans! Renate, Marlene and Zarah never took drugs. Sad Germans!

  • ...es ist mir scheiB egal was Renata Muller getan haben!Meine Lust ist mit Der Fuhrer ...nicht mit Freulein Muller! Ich glaube Hitler einen besser Sanger war!Alles fur Deutschland!

  • Yeah, but watch out. Hitler was not interested in her, simply cos examination in her family learns that another member of Hitlers family loved here. But how did you know that Hitler could be a better singer? When he was young at a Munich education his voice sounded little like in this song; Frank Rennicke - Sehnsucht nach Zuhause (2cnd example) Frank Rennicke Unseren Toten Soldaten (Listen to the second voice!) Indeed Hitler could sing like this when he was around 10 years. Did you really know?

  • But surely, Renate Muller died in October 1937,18weitausendundachts, so - yes - why indeed should she care about that Jewish lover, while so many uncles and nephews were dying on the battlefield ? Why indeed, since WWII started on September 3, 1939, so which battlefields are you referring to that would have preoccupied the ailing Renate in the weeks leading up to her 1937 death in the clinic ?

  • How to win friends and influence people, tut-tut, 18weitausendundacht, you will never win- over people to your way of thinking, if you insult them or hurt their feelings in this way; Jews being no different to you, save for the fact that they pray in the synagogue, as presumably you do in the Christian church...both to the same loving God.

Be objective, stick to facts, and cut-out the negative hurtful side-swipes, and that way you - and your argument - will be taken seriously.

  • A Jew, no good ? A Jew formed the basis of the Christian religion, 18weitausendundacht, and - trust me - he not only does good, but he works miracles for me, every day. Open your mind, and stop chasing fearful stereotypes and skeletons in imaginary cupboards. God made the Jews, just as he made *you*, and as such they are your brothers and kinsmen, surely ? Stop hating; start loving, and watch your happiness-balloon start to bounce and roll with the unbridled joy-of-life !

  • GerryGeorge1..You are right about your 3 messages!

But I can explain what he means..There are so many people and ideas on this world and so many people can place the word Crisis at random places. Maybe his has calculated another crisis long time ago and his parents had told him so..It's never nice to see predictions come out, especially when you don't like them and someone is not prepared on crucial situations.

  • Good point, 3TREitem, but surely the tragedy of WWII, and its far-reaching social consequences in a vanquished Germany, cannot really be understood by today's generations, because everything about it can only be an anachronism in their naive and youthful perceptions of an albeit Amerikanisch-inculcated New Order, borne on the back of their ruthless de-Nazification !

  • A very nice version of the famous tango, in the movie "Die englische Heirat/An english Marriage" it was sung by the delightful Hilde Hildebrand in a nightclub scene, Renate Müller and Adolf Wohlbrück (Anton Wallbrook) danced to it as they heard it on the radio.

  • Thank you Leo...:) I saw this film some day on some "German channel".

And have recording made by H.H.; it was a sort of a problem for me to decide which one to chose; finally decided for the present one, there were more than one reason...:-)

  • I love this Müller Version too.

I saw this film first time nearly 20 years ago and have seen him very often.

  • Renate Müller is great. I love her voice. The movie "Die englische Heirat/An english Marriage" is just on a pay TV channel. I'm watching it just now.

  • wow, many thanks for these beautiful contribution. i love renate müller films, and collected some records too. she is buried in berlin and her grave is still possible to visit.

  • Dear Jurek Thank you for letting me take part in your collection. I have been dreaming about Renate Muller for many days now...

  • This is my pleasure to read you words; this tango has a special meaning to me; thanks.

  • Thank you so much. This is an absolute pleasure to watch and listen to.

  • Thank you.

  • Such lovely song, and what refined interpretation!

  • A song just as beautiful as the artist.

    Thank you.

  • Amazing that you were able to find so many pictures of her. She has a fragile quality to her voice similar to Helen Morgan (several clips on Youtube).

  • I did this hunting with heart and...patience...:-)

Morgan has deeper (richer ?) sound, I feel it that way; like her very much, thank you.
