  • I never liked them big headstock strats, my friend had a 1978 one a couple of weeks back which I could have bought for £850, which was less than he wanted, but it seem's the market has slowed a little on these strats, yours is a lot older of course, I know some guys love the big headstock and especially guys born near that time or were getting their first guitar around that time ect,

  • @UKToneKing I know what you mean - I prefer the normal size too, especially if its\pre CBS (I should be so lucky! lol) but then that's how they made them in 1969. Purely a personal preference of course - just aesthetic. The Strats I dislike are those with the bullet trussrods sticking out at the top -ugly! But then these have their fans to. Take care.

  • Absolutely beautiful Stratocaster my man! I am totally jealous! And she sounds beautiful too! Don't let her slip through your fingers!

  • @jdpicher Thanks - I've had it for 34 years & it ain't going nowhere!

  • Thanks, glad you liked it. This was the very first you-tube vid I did & all I had was a cheap Kodak camera. Later vids were done with a Sony camcorder that delivers much better picture & sound quality. I have a friend of mine that's just set up a recording business and he's offered to make some professional vids for me - so watch out for these in the months to come.

  • Nice, but it makes me cry that you don't have a decent microphone. Very good technically though, and I am sure it sounds a lot better in person.

  • Nice . Enjoyed that.

  • @ilikezappa Thanks, glad you liked it.

  • Wish I could - unfortunately the AC4TVH/1x12" cab was just a loan & I had to give it back (very begrudgingly! LOL)

  • Come on mate, do us all a favour and play that through your AC4. Will be wicked!

  • Wow

Really pleasure to listen that but I may break into your place to get that st. Lol

  • @manyaksi LOL - yup, I think there's possibly a few others that have ogled my 69 Strat from time to time! Thanks for looking in & glad you enjoyed the vid

  • Lose that Vox and get an old JMI one. The over processed sound detracts from your amazing guitar and playing. It's like Sesame Street - what doesn't belong here.

  • @webcityguy Thanks for the playing compliment. This was only recorded on a cheap camera. I had an original AC30 - great at high volume pushing the power-tubes, but too loud for normal use. I now use an EQ & BBE Sonic Stomp in the FX loop, & the AD120VTX sounds great. Live you'd struggle to tell the difference compared to an all-valve rig. I've lost count of the compliments I've received on my tone & even tube purists thought it was an AC30! Perhaps I'll put up some new clips of my AD120VTX.

  • good job! nice tone!

  • @darek277 Thanks again!

  • Hi Voxman, very nice cover indeed. I have a question since I'm interested in finding a vintage late '69 Strat. I thought they were all made with just one string post in the headstock in that year. Did you add the second one? Is it an early or late "69? Thanks a lot. Cheers, M.

  • Thanks mgalbu. Yes, I added the 2nd string post, and its November 1969 per the neck.

  • You have serious skills with your ears :P! amazing cover! i've subbed. :)

  • Thanks for the kind words164jord - appreciate you looking in.

  • flawless cover man, absolutly flawless. tabs for it by the way? : )

  • That's very kind CK, but I only wish it were true! Glad you enjoyed it though & thanks for listening. Just learned it by ear (no patience for tabs I'm afraid) although I'm sure there are tabs around for this somewhere.

  • SERIOUSLY?! YOU LEARNT THAT BY EAR?! man, give me your skills, thats mad! I couldent even play it that good with tabs, haha! But yeah, i could seriously listen to this all day, as great as it is ! : )

  • Just wanted to offer you a trade for that guitar, both my legs and my soul, how bout it?

  • LOL! 'fraid not! But what about my pure mint genuine 2004 50th Anniversary Stratocaster Deluxe with Bill Lawrence p/ups, S1 switching, maple neck with abalone inlays, gold fittings, 2-tone vintage sunburst, 2-point trem, locking m/heads & special tweed case....Noooo - sorry, you can't have that one either! LOL

  • Yikes, turn off all that junk, and let that guitar's tone shine bro'. Too much effx. Not needed on a sweet strat like that.

  • Well, Jimi used rotary, univibe, fuzz, wah & treble-boosters with his Strat. So, if it's good enough for Jimi...!

  • thats is my most loved strat except the finish on that one i would want white like jimi hendrix at woodstock.... love the guitar nice playin

  • I hear you. Given the choice, my favourites are candy apple red & lake placid blue (the old version, not new) - but I'll just have to suffer! lol

  • Do you think this amp will sound ok with a 2x12 cab with eminence legend speakers ? are the neodymium really that important ??

  • Hi Fabian. Don't get overly hung up by 'this or that' speaker.Tone is highly personal. What I think doesn't matter, only what YOU think & sounds good to you. My advice is listen to LOTS of different speakers/cabs & make up your own mind. The 'Neodogs' are Celestion G12 Century's that are not made anymore (only the 60w Vintage version) although old stock are still around. Big plus is that they are so light - but that's less of an issue in a cab rather than a heavy combo. Good luck, Rich

  • Thanks for the reply !. I was asking because I already own a 2x12 avatar cab with eminence legends (150w each) and I can pick up for cheap the electronics section of a Vox ad120vtx, I'm thinking of making a head with it. I'll post a video if I get it done. Cheers

  • Gotcha! Sounds good - drop into the forum & send some pics when you're done - & maybe a you-tube vid to hear you in action! Take care.

  • Sounds good dude. Cool axe!

  • Thanks DB, glad you liked it - my Strat is an original 1969 Hardtail, with mapleneck/mapleboard, which I've owned for over 30 years.

  • nice cover man!!!!! love the effects. I just got a new VOX ac4tv. Theyre really small, only 4 watts but they can crunch out some awesome tones at pretty decent levels. It doesnt have reverb though :(

  • Thanks BornAgain4him - glad you liked it. I've just got hold of an AC4TVH and 1x12 cab to try out so I hear ya! Plan to do a vid demo during next month. Rich

  • Hey I have one more question. Does the amp sound good even when turned up to a high volume. or does it lost tone?

  • gnrdude52, it was designed as a gigging amp, & the louder you play it, the better it sounds - I use mine with an AD212 extn cab, so that's 4x12" Celestion Neodogs - if I move the power selector to 2x60watts, crank the volume, gain & master volume (the latter controls the level of tube saturation) and let rip, with an EQ and BBE sonic stomp in the FX loop, my rig is just awesome!

  • ok thanks for all your help

  • really nice cover ! tone maybe a tad bit too bassy for my taste. is that the older generation of the valvetronix series? check out my little wing cover oh yeah and beautiful guitar uve got...

  • Thanks eiq999 - I liked your take too. Yup, as per the info section it's an original Korean made Valvetronix AD120VTX. I use it with an AD212 extn cab and VC12 floor controller. It sounded nicely balanced in the room, but the bassyness was because of the limitations of the kodak camera - it just couldn't cope with the volume/tone from the 4x12" Celestion 'Neodogs'!

  • You've got some talent there my friend, only one thing that bugs me. A bit too much reverb, tone it down a bit and it would sound 10 times better I'm sure.

  • Thanks morningstar - yup, probably was just a tad too much reverb in retrospect. Rich

  • i don't mean to be offensive but you make that strat look huge!

  • No offence taken - it's a genuine 1969 Strat & they're slightly bigger than later Strats. Rich

  • ...in case anyone was wondering, I was just joshing! LOL

  • best cover ive heard i actaully like it better srv's. nice playing man

  • Thanks BLKvids, that's very kind and most humbling- glad you enjoyed it. Rich

  • How much was your Strat?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Tommo - I paid £187.50 for it over 30 years ago. Rich

  • Damnnnnn lol, worth so much more than that now a days. Good stuff

  • Hi I believe what you tell me bout yer recorder.....Still, I must say it boggles my mind

  • Voxman5,

Hi Me again more questions please! What is the signal path from the amp to recording medium? How many user presets available with the best VOX footswitch? 'Bout convinced to buy VT! TKS

  • Billrocks - there wasn't - this was a low grade recording with just my Kodak digital camera! (as per 'more info' above). Only the VFS5 is compatible with the VT amps. Drop in to Valvetronix . net to chat and learn more. Rich

  • nice tone mate

hey its me from the laneyposse forum!!

  • Hi Darren - thanks for dropping by! I'll get round to doing some clips with my VC30 sometime, but in the meantime, feel free to mooch around my other clips here (including demo's of the new Vox VT30). Best, Rich

  • do these things really have reliability problems like people say they do? i like the models and features and looks but people say they start dying on them after a few months.

  • I've had my AD120VTX for well over 5 yrs now and it's been the most reliable & versatile amp I've ever owned! Look on in the forum for factual information including a detailed FAQ section containing tips, maintenance info, amp model info, use of EQ etc. Rich

  • great man!

  • Thanks Ace - appreciate you looking in. Rich

  • nice mate

  • i have a question i bought this camera and it wont connect to my pc. I use the battery's it came with and when i put it on the dock it wont connect if you can help that would be great

also how do you get sound working on it because mine wont work

  • Love the effects your using there! Different and dreamy - Jimi would approve i`m sure!

  • Thanks Davey - all the effects are built into my AD120VTX Valvetronix. I was using the univibe, with a little spring reverb & delay. Jimi used a Leslie rotary cab on the record, but later univibe live. Rich

  • When you play the chord that slides up, play the bass note with your thumb.

    Good job.

  • Thanks for the tip RDawg - I'll give that a try. Rich

  • YOU ROCK!!!

  • Thanks Gu

  • nice job.I just got a AD50VT today best amp I have ever own

  • Thanks, & many congrats on the AD50VT - hope you have a lot of fun with it. Rich

  • nice

  • Nice feel there, Rich! I like your playing.

  • Many thanks indeed Robert.

  • Great tone and playing Rich! I can't wait to get my ad60vth!

  • Is that an AC30 I see in the background?

  • Hi Arbitermatt - how does my Vox sound to you? Rich

  • Nice job, Rich. Great playing... sounded great, too, for a camera mic... Did anyone mention it was a little boomy? :D

  • Thanks for the kind comments Mark - Boomy? :D - TigerBill's just jealous cos he sold his red Strat & is now missing it, bless him! lol!

  • Nice playing there Rich, and that camera mic is not bad at all!

  • Thanks Jon - I was pretty impressed with the mic myself, which is why I braved posting a clip!

    Best

    Rich

  • Smooooth playing Rich. Beauty of a Strat, too. :)

  • Thanks STS!
