I never liked them big headstock strats, my friend had a 1978 one a couple of weeks back which I could have bought for £850, which was less than he wanted, but it seem's the market has slowed a little on these strats, yours is a lot older of course, I know some guys love the big headstock and especially guys born near that time or were getting their first guitar around that time ect,
@UKToneKing I know what you mean - I prefer the normal size too, especially if its\pre CBS (I should be so lucky! lol) but then that's how they made them in 1969. Purely a personal preference of course - just aesthetic. The Strats I dislike are those with the bullet trussrods sticking out at the top -ugly! But then these have their fans to. Take care.
Thanks, glad you liked it. This was the very first you-tube vid I did & all I had was a cheap Kodak camera. Later vids were done with a Sony camcorder that delivers much better picture & sound quality. I have a friend of mine that's just set up a recording business and he's offered to make some professional vids for me - so watch out for these in the months to come.
@manyaksi LOL - yup, I think there's possibly a few others that have ogled my 69 Strat from time to time! Thanks for looking in & glad you enjoyed the vid
Lose that Vox and get an old JMI one. The over processed sound detracts from your amazing guitar and playing. It's like Sesame Street - what doesn't belong here.
@webcityguy Thanks for the playing compliment. This was only recorded on a cheap camera. I had an original AC30 - great at high volume pushing the power-tubes, but too loud for normal use. I now use an EQ & BBE Sonic Stomp in the FX loop, & the AD120VTX sounds great. Live you'd struggle to tell the difference compared to an all-valve rig. I've lost count of the compliments I've received on my tone & even tube purists thought it was an AC30! Perhaps I'll put up some new clips of my AD120VTX.
Hi Voxman, very nice cover indeed. I have a question since I'm interested in finding a vintage late '69 Strat. I thought they were all made with just one string post in the headstock in that year. Did you add the second one? Is it an early or late "69? Thanks a lot. Cheers, M.
That's very kind CK, but I only wish it were true! Glad you enjoyed it though & thanks for listening. Just learned it by ear (no patience for tabs I'm afraid) although I'm sure there are tabs around for this somewhere.
SERIOUSLY?! YOU LEARNT THAT BY EAR?! man, give me your skills, thats mad! I couldent even play it that good with tabs, haha! But yeah, i could seriously listen to this all day, as great as it is ! : )
LOL! 'fraid not! But what about my pure mint genuine 2004 50th Anniversary Stratocaster Deluxe with Bill Lawrence p/ups, S1 switching, maple neck with abalone inlays, gold fittings, 2-tone vintage sunburst, 2-point trem, locking m/heads & special tweed case....Noooo - sorry, you can't have that one either! LOL
Hi Fabian. Don't get overly hung up by 'this or that' speaker.Tone is highly personal. What I think doesn't matter, only what YOU think & sounds good to you. My advice is listen to LOTS of different speakers/cabs & make up your own mind. The 'Neodogs' are Celestion G12 Century's that are not made anymore (only the 60w Vintage version) although old stock are still around. Big plus is that they are so light - but that's less of an issue in a cab rather than a heavy combo. Good luck, Rich
Thanks for the reply !. I was asking because I already own a 2x12 avatar cab with eminence legends (150w each) and I can pick up for cheap the electronics section of a Vox ad120vtx, I'm thinking of making a head with it. I'll post a video if I get it done. Cheers
nice cover man!!!!! love the effects. I just got a new VOX ac4tv. Theyre really small, only 4 watts but they can crunch out some awesome tones at pretty decent levels. It doesnt have reverb though :(
Thanks BornAgain4him - glad you liked it. I've just got hold of an AC4TVH and 1x12 cab to try out so I hear ya! Plan to do a vid demo during next month. Rich
gnrdude52, it was designed as a gigging amp, & the louder you play it, the better it sounds - I use mine with an AD212 extn cab, so that's 4x12" Celestion Neodogs - if I move the power selector to 2x60watts, crank the volume, gain & master volume (the latter controls the level of tube saturation) and let rip, with an EQ and BBE sonic stomp in the FX loop, my rig is just awesome!
really nice cover ! tone maybe a tad bit too bassy for my taste. is that the older generation of the valvetronix series? check out my little wing cover oh yeah and beautiful guitar uve got...
Thanks eiq999 - I liked your take too. Yup, as per the info section it's an original Korean made Valvetronix AD120VTX. I use it with an AD212 extn cab and VC12 floor controller. It sounded nicely balanced in the room, but the bassyness was because of the limitations of the kodak camera - it just couldn't cope with the volume/tone from the 4x12" Celestion 'Neodogs'!
You've got some talent there my friend, only one thing that bugs me. A bit too much reverb, tone it down a bit and it would sound 10 times better I'm sure.
Hi Me again more questions please! What is the signal path from the amp to recording medium? How many user presets available with the best VOX footswitch? 'Bout convinced to buy VT! TKS
Billrocks - there wasn't - this was a low grade recording with just my Kodak digital camera! (as per 'more info' above). Only the VFS5 is compatible with the VT amps. Drop in to Valvetronix . net to chat and learn more. Rich
Hi Darren - thanks for dropping by! I'll get round to doing some clips with my VC30 sometime, but in the meantime, feel free to mooch around my other clips here (including demo's of the new Vox VT30). Best, Rich
do these things really have reliability problems like people say they do? i like the models and features and looks but people say they start dying on them after a few months.
I've had my AD120VTX for well over 5 yrs now and it's been the most reliable & versatile amp I've ever owned! Look on in the forum for factual information including a detailed FAQ section containing tips, maintenance info, amp model info, use of EQ etc. Rich
i have a question i bought this camera and it wont connect to my pc. I use the battery's it came with and when i put it on the dock it wont connect if you can help that would be great
also how do you get sound working on it because mine wont work
Thanks Davey - all the effects are built into my AD120VTX Valvetronix. I was using the univibe, with a little spring reverb & delay. Jimi used a Leslie rotary cab on the record, but later univibe live. Rich

Nice, but it makes me cry that you don't have a decent microphone. Very good technically though, and I am sure it sounds a lot better in person.

Yikes, turn off all that junk, and let that guitar's tone shine bro'. Too much effx. Not needed on a sweet strat like that.

Well, Jimi used rotary, univibe, fuzz, wah & treble-boosters with his Strat. So, if it's good enough for Jimi...!
