  • Clever video

  • This was our song to dance to in the late 40's.. What great days they were.

  • This was the #1 song on the Billboard charts on the day I was born. Frankly, I really don't think it's all that great. And, it stayed in the #1 spot for 10 weeks?!!

  • @taratupa73 You undoubtedly do not dance the mambo!

  • I don't understand why this song became "The Sign of Sex" in Thailand xD

  • I'm 16 and I love this <3

  • This song was in a underwater diver type movie, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the flick.

  • @tiredlawdog you are right. the song featured in the 1955 film 'underwater 'starring jane russell.

  • @ambindia but seems to have a longer history. please see the wikipedia entry about it.

  • nice

  • I am 24 years old, but I love this

  • In the mid 1950's I was working in Tokyo One of our favorite night stops was the Latin Quarter Al Shattuck and his wife Doris were the managers the band was Nobu Hara and his Sharps and Flats a very talented group Their rendition of Cherry Pink was a huge hit Rarely did they play a set without this stirring tune And we customers loved it

  • @tucsonronb ...The only pool we could use was at Camp Sakai, Japan. Next door was the NCO Club which had outdoor speakers from the jukebox inside. This song was played almost every other time. Music is a time machine that only goes backward...I love it.

  • thanks ....great videos, great song....

  • I learnt to cha cha to this when I was about 3! This is the first music I ever remember hearing. Love it!

  • Takes me back to my teenage years. Superb!

  • Thanks for sharing Jimmy, nice video! :) ***** Have a great day, peace and love to you :D Love Mellissa :D

  • This was probably one of the first tunes that came my attention as a kid in the 1950's, I think I was about 7 or eight years old at the time.

    Music brings memories flooding back.

  • A great cover

  • A wonderful piece of music - check out "Carl Woodison" and his cover of this one.

  • A #1 hit for Perez Prado that would become the #1 song of 1955. But on July 9, this monster hit was replaced by another monster hit. That was Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley and His Comets. On that day, the Big Band Era would begin a slow death and the birth of the Rock Era began. But like Nat "King" Cole, Les Baxter, and Frank Sinatra, Perez Prado was a part of Rock History as this hit was #2 when Haley hit #1. 1955: The year that the music scene changed forever.

  • ty for posting those were memorable times. Patrica was another of perez's gret songs. bCK THEN WHEEL OF FORTUNE WAS ON THE JUKE BOX

  • My Dad use to play this on his Trumpet all the time, he really like it. Later becoming the director of the USAF Band in the late 50's.

  • nice edit

  • i heard it said recently on a tape by casey kasum or however the hell u spell his name that this was the greatest instrumental hit of all time, even topping the theme fr the apartment, tequila and a walk in teh black forest, which i found kind of hard to believe. does anyone have an opinion on that?? . im 58 and i know a million of those golden oldies

  • This was our high school prom theme song in 1957. Maybe some of the Joelton Blue Jays will remember.

  • No. 1 for 10 weeks in 1955; proceeded Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock."

  • This one of my old best when i was little boy in New York great to hear it again

  • When this song was being (over)played on the radio in the late 1950s, I think it was DJ Allen Freed who referred to it as "Cherry Pink and Assle Bottom Wipe." If there are "Radio Bloopers" by Kermit Langley on YT you may find the actual slip - and who it was (my memory is going).

  • @MONAABRAHAM1#Love the songs and i love the beach and the pink sand in Bermuda that we had visited couple months ago. love it.

i love the Patti's work she had wonderful treasures in her photography.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm love it love it love it, like anything with trumpet, saxaphone have loved this tune without the words since i was knee high to a grasshopper now i just have to get my daughter to burn it for me

  • The big success of " Cherry Pink" , along with the other cha cha and mambo songs of the 50's, turned on non-latino americans to the conga-bongos beat that gave Richie Valens a hit with a rock&roll style, "La Bamba". Later on, Santana came on with his latin-jazz-salsa rock. Perez Prado is owed pioneer status by "mamberos".

  • Aww, I always remember my Granny with Perez Prado! :3 ♥♥

  • very cute! I love the pink vehicles, the first pink door, and the pink billiard ball.

  • @JOESNAPON

You and your dad are soo lucky you got to live in this era.

    Today's era is trash.

  • Excellent musical performance

  • This tune was featured in the movie "Deal of the Century" with Chevy Chase/Gregory Hines/Sigourney Weaver, was played pretty much completely during the closing credits. Was a nice surprise hearing it, I've always liked it. Got sheet music for it, it does have lyrics, was also featured in a film called "Underwater".

  • To My Butterfly: Notice the butterflies in seconds 42-50. Pink butterflies

May this song bring you the joy it has brought tens of millions by one of the best band leaders of all Latin music. From my heart to yours.

  • This video is posted on Facebook page called "Golden Tunes - Sound of Oldies", so if you have fb account and some time, check it, i guess you will like it :) Page is for everyone who like like warm cozy sound of evergreen music.

  • My great-grandfather says that this music reminds him of old Havana ..... early 1950's ... when they had fabulous shows at various hotels and the place was a true paradise.

  • This was the number one song on my birthday- 5-13-1955.

  • Damaso Perez Prado, one of the greatest musicians to come out of Cuba. Him, Celia Cruz, Beny More, Olga Guillot, and the master of them all, Ernesto Lecuona. I was able to hear all of them in Cuba. Also now in our new life. Thanks to music recordings. And these mentioned here are but a few. Cuba had more than that. And great dancers. I am happy that music from Cuba has given so much entertainment over the years.

  • @kkesoj Just a reminder in this song excels the trumpet of Isidro "chilo" Moran , mexican trumpetist who was one of the excellents musics of The Perez Prado Orchestra, "chilo" Moran could be one of the greatest trumpetist of ever but as mexican he has been ignored when talking about the best musicians of jazz latin, afrocaribbean music etc. etc.

  • I am so old I remember when musicians played instruments--like this.

  • @conradsdad - you're < mid-century (I'm 66 -born in WWII) Not only did I constantly hear this professionalism of muscians growing up, my parents put me in band to learn it - I love this music, but never even approached ineptness - too interested in the guitar - you know, that thing wannabe cowboys used?

  • @conradsdad I'm only 46, but I remember listening to my fathers 78's. There was a pride back then, I haven't heard a better rendition than Prado's

  • Drunk Tom And Jerry

  • In Fort Worth, Texas, my daddy played in a band in 1956 and he played this song on his trumpet for his best gal. She is now his wife of 53 years....my mom!! He is listening right now!!!

  • My dad didn't play in a band but he loved this song. When I took up the trumpet as a kid, I played a simple version of it for him (without the trademark Prado "growl") and he was very pleased.

  • @rba2211 Please check this out on youtube for a version by the Fabulous Thunderbirds. The trumpet part is done on harmonica by an amazinly adept player.

  • One of my ma's and grandma's fav tunes ;)

  • LOL wtf 1:35?
