Think about it on a metaphorical level; Jordan has always aimed to empower those around him, to instill within the minds of the rising stars in the game of basketball that dedication towards improvement is the key to success, and that success isn't something that an individual recieves from 'the almighty'. I don't see a problem with crediting 'God', but you can't persecute another man for their own beliefs.
