  • Wow, gorgeous video! Love it so much.

  • The Uma look-a-like is June Webb. Type in June Webb to see Ray introduce her singing Looking Glass from a Country Show episode here on Youtube. She's in several Ray videos always wearing that purple print dress even though Ray wears a variety of different outfits. Must be her favorite lucky dress. She must have been a part of Ray's show at the time. She's accompanied by the Cherokee Cowboys.

  • Just found an earlier version of I'll Be There that you can access by typing Ray Price lorettafan1. It's mistitled "Ain't No Chains". It looks to be from around 1953 or 4 and looks and sounds like rockabilly rock n roll way before Elvis. Ray is actually dancing! I'd love to know what show it's from. Please check it out Ray experts and let me know what you think.

  • the cherokee cowboy!!!!

  • Didn't realize Uma Thurman is that old--love the "do"

  • Quite a toe-tapper this is!

  • i believe the fiddle player on the right is tommy jackson he played on hank williams recording of iam so lonesome i could cry

  • I could be wrong but I think the fiddle player on the left is Bobby Acheson, not Dale Potter. They looked a lot alike but if you check some of the other videos of this Bobby identifies himself as the fiddler on this clip. They were the eminent fiddlers in Nashville at that time and all played in Ray's band at different times. There are a couple clips with all three of them playing.

  • Voices Like That Are Only Born Once In A Lifetime.............

  • Good song, nice rhythm to the lyrics/melody...

  • this song is as COUNTRY as that hay bail in the background. said with affection your true country classic pardner 1uptospeed

  • This is Honky Tonk at its best and Ray in his prime. This video should be in the Smithsonian for all future generations to see!

  • damn dem gurls is hot...

  • Love Ray's honky-tonk days. Too bad Nashville ruined his music in the early 60's, removing the fiddles and steel guitars, replacing them with an orchestra.

    Rock

  • You mean changed it not to your liking. The city didn't RUIN his music. Pretty hard to ruin a voice as good as Ray Price's.

  • I like those 1950's girls...yes I do..

  • Ain't no chain strong enough to hold me....love this imagery.

  • That suit he has on is awesome!!!!! I love this song.

  • @magnoliamarshallz That was back when performers dressed like performers. Not Tee shirts and wore out jeans. They also know how to shave and bathe. Today the new ones got no class.

  • @idontdothatdou amen to that !!!!

  • @ idontdothatdou Speaking of no class. The correct English would be the new ones today have no class. I am 29 and love Ray and and all of the good old boys and girls. Country today is horrible. You do not need to wear a continental suit to sing and play guitar, you just have to be good. Would you turn down treatment from a doctor in jeans and a Tee? It isn't always about the look, it is more about the talent or skills.

  • removing this video means your a wanker...let good music be heard for any reason!!!

  • Ray has a great voice, plus he was a U.S. Marine back in the 40's. That's enough to make him #1 in my book.

  • Check out those purple check outfits the band is wearing....! Don't you just LOVE country music.....? I always thought this was a Johnny Bush song....? Johnny Bush is on you tube. If you love Ray Price, you owe it to yourself to listen to Johnny Bush's version..... W'Dan

  • I love this song and I love Ray! His voice is so beautiful.

  • great song, everything good is from this era. and this man's material is no exception.

  • This is one of the most definitive honky tonk songs of all time. I hope people are seeing and listening to this 100 years from now, when all of the current hat-acts of Nashville are forgotten. Ray Price forever, King of the Sons of Hank.

  • GREAT

  • June Webb looks so sweet in this video. She is in a purple dress behind Ray. She also has a bueatiful singing voice, I wish there were some videos of her singing on youtube.

  • There are some.

  • Hey DesertDoggz Dale Potter is the shorter fiddler on the left....one of the all time greats. Btw the girl on Ray's left is Marty Robbins wife Marizona....I am almost certain

  • Yesiree, I DO stand corrected! The blond sitting by Ray is indeed the one and only June Webb! Sorry about that!!!

  • No, the gal on Ray's left is June Webb, a country singer in the mid- to late 1950s, who toured with Roy Acuff

  • That is definetly June Webb, I could find her in a packed full room. Not many as cute as she was, I wish there were more clips of her singing around!

  • Very good! Ray is another of the oldtime greats.Thankyou for sharing 5*****'s.

  • Hey BarbWhit.....the two great fiddlers are Tommy Jackson and Dale Potter.

  • Hey Honkeytonker, is Dale Potter the fiddler on the left, or right? This is first video I've seen of him. He joined my dads (Texas Bob Roberts) band in the early 1970's and they played in vegas and arizona mostly. I've only seen pics! Thanks!

  • Hey dessert Dogz sorry I never got back to you..Dale Potter is on the left

    Cheers

  • I would like to find infomation on the two fiddle players in all the old 50's videos of Ray Price. Anyone out there who can identify them?

  • Great Rusty Gabbard tune

  • Martina McBride did a great cover of this song also on the Timeless CD. The whole cd is covers of traditional country, its worth a listen.

  • I saw Ray Price in concert when I was a young buck, that would be a 100 years ago and he was and is one great country singer!

  • A great cover of this was made by Connie Smith

  • By the way, the lady sitting behind Ray (on his left) is Marty Robbins' wife, Marizona.(to whom he dedicated his song My Woman, My Woman, My Wife.)

  • On "Invitation to the Blues," which Ray recorded in 1958, his backup singer is none other than Roger Miller, who wrote the song and played with the Cherokee Cowboys in the late 1950s.

  • Ray Price is one of my favorite singers. I love the song "invitation to the blues"

  • I saw him in concert in March. He still sounds great.

  • Did't know that this song was performed on TV by Ray.

It sounds even better than on the LP. Thank you from a dedicated Ray Price fan.

  • Cracking song, cracking singer , cracking looking girls. Thanks for posting - brilliant !
