Not too bad....Reason is ok...but there are a lot of cool programs out there for drum recording such as the above mentioned BFD or Addictive drums or EZ drummer...Great sounds and a lot of expression is easily obtained... Never did use Pro tools too much as I am a Cubase and Adobe Audiotion 3 kinda guy...But you are headed in the right direction...Good post... Home studios have come a LOOOONGGGG way
Dude, seriously, I just think you needed more practice with the ProTools setup. Everyone's first recordings sound a little "less" than what you ideally want. Also, MIDI drums NEVER sound as good as the real ones, but I am sure you know this. I just think people are being too hard on you. Keep it up, experience goes a LONG way when it comes to recording. As long as you put passion into your music it will show up, you just have to learn the right way to capture it. Good luck.
Yea...I've just given up on music...my new video's have taken a turn in a different direction..hey thanks for the honest comments....have a great week teacee...
LOL!!!!! LMAO!! i think we all know technology has ruined many a great things. its sad really i use reason, i love it but you also have to play will some sort of soul, he obviously doesn't have any just listen to him.
No soul? Well you are entitled to your opinion and I do thank you for the honest comment. However, I suggest, if time permits, that you check out the final version of the song. It's at the top on the video response area. Thanks again odarellmc.
i would have to agree, although technically quite a good composer hamonically and melodically you music is "sound" you dont have it, it sounds flat and lifeless.
If you want to see what i mean score it out and get a bunch of session musicians to play it.
The difference will show you what me and odarellmc mean.
i wish i had had the chance to record back in those days, it must've been so much closer to people's emotions in the fact that you had to perform very well to have a decent song... protools days... well, we all know,
i like the music. when it is slowed down to where you said it is supposed to be.
sounds like it could be in a sad romantic movie when two like each other but neither doesnt know, then they walk way from each other, while trying not to express the sadness.. lolll ANWWAYS, i think its good
Check out the final version of the song at the top on the video response area. You tube audio is compressed so you really don't get the same stereo mix. However, I must say that the tools that are easily available now are unmatched. Thanks for your comments.
I HATE REASON. If you like a host of ultra generic, virtual rack gear, and want to spend your life trying tol learn how to use it, get Reason(which is a glorified plug-in because noone iis going to use the sequencing in it. Newer is not better. If you want loops; for a PC;and a program that always sounds great, is ez to learn;and everytime a new version comes out;get Fruity Loops Studio7. If you need a free primary sequencing program;for PC;and don't have an interface;get one w/freeCubaseLE4
Hey namniekib, I thank you for your honest comment...I did however finish the tune in this video.... it's on the video response at the top...in any event give it a look.
I would need more info on what your issues with sound are. I would say that you should get as much memory as possible in your pc. You should also focus on the mix, panning, EQ and so on. Um..use headphones and monitors when mixing, back and forth, so you get a great balance. Anyhow if you explain what your issue is a bit clearer, I may be able to give you some info.
Wow, what a change...if Video Killed the Radio Star, Computers and Samples are definately replacing Instruments...which isn't bad in my mind...just evolution, supply and demand mixed with simplicity...by the way, how do you like your KRK's? I just got mind a couple days ago and haven't broken them in yet...still kinda edgy/harsh sounding.
Trying to figure out what I need to set up a home studio but nobody seems to be able to help or know how either HELP !... I bought Cubase have keyboards have a computer now if only someone could really explain how to put it all together. Thanks
hey man. settin up studio is quite easy. just concentrait more on audio as midi. midi is confusing. audio is better 4 vocals, bass, guitar live drums etc. keyboards 4 midi. youll find its harder gettin a result of a good warm live band recordin doin it all keyboards. gett an 8 or 16 track digital machine. plug in and go! thats wot i do and works fine. anyhow. sorry if this doesnt make sense but just tryin ta help az no'one answered you back. g
great! takes a lot to do a decent recording i just started to record but my sound is far from good if you do not mind can you give me some advice on where to look a video etc respect to you keep it up.
Thanks for you positive comments. I think that Pro Tools is the way to go for any home studio, and it wont cost too much. If anything try and get your hands on (Method One) DVD for Pro Tools and it will give you the heads up on if its for you or not. I also use Reason by propellerhead.
Great studio, and seems like you have the knowledge on how to get nice sounds out of the computer studio, but just work on your piano skills i think you can so much better. i dont know if thats your instrument... and that song that you demonstrate won't get you too far in the music business... put more heart to it, make it a little more contemporary add some cool Elec.Guitar, punchy bass, etc.
Thanks for your comments. I posted a video response for the song at the end. Its funny cause it ended up with Elec GTR and punchy Bass as you had pictured.
Cool. My home std in the '90s was based around an Amiga with loads of samples! These days I use Cubase SX3 and a handful of hardware synth modules. Oh, and some samples... :)

But there is no true replacement for a real, human drummer.

midi isn't sound, just information... the sound is made by computer simulations, adding sound to the midi-information.

Seems like a huge step between 90's and 2006 ...
...
a huge steps back.
It is not the (protools) system that makes the musician. It's the human.
