merge layers so there all one layer make sure there unlocked double click them if the have a lock next to them then open the Photoshop Document that you wnat for your website and then open them up side by side then drag the layer from your nav bar into your other document (not innto the side bar into the picture part)

you can use the splice tool, looks like a knife under the crop tool, then select all of your icons in the nav bar seperatly and save them.

I am trying to follow your video to create my own navigation buttons but on the part (2 mins 13 secs into the video) where you adjust the drop shadow, outer glow etc. in the middle of the window you have an option that lets you to change other features (it looks like a circle) and below that 3 adjustable bars. I dont! I have in it's place 'advanced blending options' the 'RGB' channles checked, five boxes two of which are ticked see 5mins (thats how mine is). What have I done wrong? Please help!

slice tool?

Use the 'K' key ;) slice your button and save for website.

You'll have your image sliced up and you'll be able to use your button.
