He did not pass away from cancer but he went slowly because he lost the will to go on because his wife died. I knew him well and he was a great guy. We saw her death coming for so long, from so far that by the time she finally did go, all the shock and surprise and despair that people usually feel when someone dies had completely dissolved. By then, I was already all cried out. It's only been a few weeks, but I'd say things are back to normal now. I have to wonder if that's why she held on as long as she did, to make the transition easy for us, and not leave her loved ones hanging.
