I have got a team losi lst and when I drive it I put some throttle on and then take it of but the engine will still go on driving for about 5 seconds or until I put the brake on dos or has had the same thing happen to the because I can't use the can when this is happening because it is unsafe help!!!
Im really tired of the traxxas fanboys everywhere. It is a decent brand but it is for BEGINNERS.i gi on a mugen seiki racing car video."ohh my nitro 4 tec can beat that". Nope, no fucking chance. Losi, ae, mugen, kyosho, etc. I dont have anything against traxxas. Just the fanboys that think their traxxas can beat every car on earth.
@FamousVideos4U i agree with everything u said. I have a rustler and its fun as hell but steering is shit center of gravity none, comparing it to my losi 8ight 2.0 race roller and my losi xxl is a snooze fest for my racing cars
I have a savage xl.... Don't believe me? I'll post a video of it doing a backflip off da wall!!! It's awesome I'm THINKING OF GETING THIS ONE TOO but I prefer tvp chassis
@RTHounds All I know is that the XXL is the most current version of the LST-platform. I do not know if there's anything in the works. It could simply be that the local shops aren't ordering the quantities they used to, I don't know.
Hey I'm in need of a new starter for my t-maxx (the EZ starter housing broke) and could I possibly buy that pull starter for it and I have the trx 2.5r engine in mind
@Awayze To a point but you'll always need to do some fine tuning based on atmospheric conditions, humidity, fuel, etc. It shoudl be really close out of the box though.
im done with buggies im gettin a monster truck i cant make it to a track so buggys are dont have enogh suspension for rough stuff like that they only work well on a groomed track
I am really considering this truck. I had a Savage X that was stolen. I still have my Proline 40 series tires that came from it plus the original body and the Proline body I got for it. I know the bodies won't fit the truck lol. I also have my RB TM928 still with an Integy Aluminum flywheel and clutch set my question is will I have to change the Flywheel or will it be ok I am aware that the clutch bells are different. Also would the Rotostart from the Savage fit into the Chassis on the LST? TNX!
@Nuclearrc I'm not familiar with that RB engine or the flywheel setup it would have on it so I am not positive if you'd have to get a new one or not. There's no need to swap out the included starter with the Rotostart as it comes with a combo pull start/spin start mechanism.
@HorizonRCdotCom lol Well thanks for your help anyway! The TM 928 with the Integy flywheel flat out rips and makes good power and it's a .28. I'll see what happens I guess my suspicion is the flywheel will work on the LST XXL? lol Thought I'd ask though as every truck is different. But if you're not familiar with my motor and flywheel That's ok I did not know? lol Have a nice day!
@Nuclearrc Yeah, I'd rather say that I don't know than say it will and then have it not fit, you know? If you do get it working let us know, I am sure others would like to know.
@707Madmax It's a .28-class engine. The Savage comes in 4-5 engine sizes depending on the truck. I think the Losi has more power than most of the Savages, however the...I want to say the 5.9-Savage is really close.
@707Madmax About a year ago now, I want to say it was June of 2009. Both are excellent trucks but you get a much better radio system with the XXL than what the Savage comes with, the XXL is longer and wider too.
Okay,I haves few questions, 1. Was that a cold start, or did you start it after you had already been running the truck 2. Does the xxl have steel spur gears out of the box 3. Does it have 1 or 2 spur gears because in the transmission it looks like the two speed mechanism is in it, but there are two sets of teeth on the clutch bell. Nice video helps me a lot with deciding on my next car (lst xxl) 5*
That start you see there, the very first one was the first start of the day. I'm pretty sure it does have steel spur gears and there are 2 of them. The 2-speed is a standard item and comes installed on the truck.
Yes and no. I use Nitrotane in just about everything I run, regardless of the engine manufacturer. Losi does recommend you use Nitrotane in their engines.
i just got a customized monter truck and the shop owner owned it and it has a skid plate reverse other stuff but it doesnt have brakes i might wana get brakes installed
I have only run the Savage Flux. I believe engine sizes are closer between these two than the Revo 3.3 but the LST XXL still has the best radio included in an RTR Hands Down.
I don't have any experience with the Revo 3.3 but just looking feature-for-feature the LST XXL has a MUCH better radio system, larger displacement engine, larger-volume shocks and more.
I didn't have to but I did choose to after I broke the engine in before I started filming. When you're breaking the engine in you can sometimes get small metal shards that wear off of the piston and sleeve during the process. This can, at times, foul the plug. After that I never had to replace the plug and, quite honestly, I probably could have run that plug without issue.
I just bought the XXL and it is massive and powerfull, I am very impressed, I have about 6 nitro monster trucks and this is my favorite, you can check out some of my trucks on my channel.
It has the power to do so however the way the suspension is setup I don't think you could get the rear end to not absorb the energy to the point where it would wheelie. Efficiency is about the same between both 20 and 30%, I just personally prefer 30% with the larger displacement engines.
thanku very much for the info. can one change the suspension easily back and forward or is that fixed? As for the nitro %age i asked coz here in Germany the nitromethane is the costly substance abt 8 eur/litre whilst the methanol only costs abt eur 2,50. thnx again.
Thanks for the reply, I meant the K5.9 from the Savage XL. Love the Losi though, I have had a Savage 25, and two Savage X, and the Losi XXL takes them all hands down. I've switched camps to Losi along with my dad. Cant wait to bash with his LST2 and my XXL
I almost bought a Revo Platinum edition, until I seen the radio for the XXL. It was the radio that hooked me, but now that my XXL is broken in, I'm ecstatic for the Losi.
The telemetry makes engine tuning easy without having to shine a temp gun down the head of the engine. And who doesn;t want to know how fast their truck just cruised the block.
Main thing is the radio, and that's a minor difference. I believe the UK version has a slightly lower RF output to conform to standards and regulations.
this truck looks bad ass....but the greatest monster truck ever created was the savage 4.6...I own many nitro trucks and I am sorry but nothing can touch a savage..and no matter how big the tires that are installed on this thing I doubt its better
Hi, how u doing? may u help me, I have a Losi LST XXL, engine 454, I have a problem with intonation on my engine, the engine overheats I would like you to help me a bit with respect to lower the temperature, the engine reaches 225, 230, 235°F- 105-110ºC. thanks.
Well i dont rly know hehe I got if from a relative for 100kr (10 Euro) when he didnt have time for it anymore. Probably worth a few hundred with all the equipment.
Its on batteries by the way, making it easier to swap around different engines and other parts to have fun and experiment. Anyone can get one rly cheap ifu know how to repair/build em :)
I don't believe it will but I am pretty sure there is a pull starter that will work. Contact product support and they should be able to get you the right info.
It's not, they made a running change to the radio to include the Marine programming and DSM2 compatibility. When they did they they also changed the part number to SPM3140 versus SPM3130, the old number.
I just bought one, my first Losi. I have been running HPI Savages for 7 years now and they just don't compare to this beast.
Totally took it appart and modded it with HD plates, RCRaven Shock springs, New Era Roll Bar, 188oz Digital servos and added the wing kit.. Pulled out the engine and replaced it with a Picco .28 P3...NOW it is dialed in to my specifications and I can call it MY truck.
You want to tune the engine so that it's right, not too rich or too lean. The problem with an engine that's too rich is that it will keep loading up on you and you'll have problems clearing the carb out and getting the full performance of the engine. Part of the break-in process is a gradual leaning out of your needles.
I haven't driven a Savage 5.9 so I can't speak towards the handling or performance. The LST XXL does feature the pull start/'spin start backplate where it looks like the Savage is spin start only. You also can't beat the radio system that comes with the XXL. A DX3S with the telemetry all setup for you out of the box? Sold!
I have Watched Videos on the LST and the Savage and both seem to be pretty good trucks. I have Owned Many Electric trucks but never a Nitro. I have found the LST and the Savage 5.9 for around $400 to $450. I did notice that the Savage is a better selling truck though. I guess it's all preference.
dude I am sorry but I like your losi vids but I can't bear your strong chicago/wisconsin accent. Sorry it must be because I am just a dumb bostonian and can't deal with other accents.
in the gallon(LOSF00220) ? MY LHS in Arizona, Hobby Bench, does not sell it any more. I am running Trinity Monster Horsepower 20% in my LST2 right now. Thanks !
I would suggest yo call into the Horizon Hobby customer care department. Explain your situation and they should be able to steer you towards another local shop that should be able to get you some Nitrotane
Thanks Kevin ! I'm running Dynamite Blue Thunder HP8 20% in my LST2 and it's10x better than the Trinity Monster Horsepower 20% that I was running. ;-)
Thanks for the review, I enjoyed watching it. Your presenter clearly has an enthusiasm about what he is doing and the review was clear and concise. What I didn't like so much and I find throughout the entire RC industry is that nobody ever properly covers the negative aspects of products. I appreciate you are trying to keep the manufacturers happy but aren't the readers/watchers more important? I want to hear what doesn't quite make it about the truck, what breaks & what should be improved. TY!
Actually if you watch the recap section again I addressed that we didn't break a thing and that there weren't any issues. I did also voice a handling concern early on about the truck seemingly being soft on asphalt, almost to the point of my thinking about putting swaybars on it but it worked perfect on the dirt. This is also why I made a point to start the engine with the pull start vs the Spin Start, it was that easy. As a whole I didn't have any issues with this truck during my testing.
Glad to hear everything was ok during the review. I sure did hear the comment about the sway bar and that nothing broke. But in general, you must know what I mean, right? I am am not renewing my subscription to any RC magazines this year because I'm not sure I've seen a review of a kit with less than 8/10 so far! The bad points are always glossed over "the steering servo could have been better" "the brakes were a little weak", etc. If I was new to RCs, I would expect they were all bulletproof!
I do and as someone who worked for the magazines for about 5 years I understand both sides of the argument. One of the reasons we don't score items when we review them, it's so subjective. Its also why we've added a Final Thoughts section to the reviews too (Click under the more info tab to see that). I'm also trying to show more crashing and such in videos specifically to answer the durability questions as well. We've got some cool stuff in the works with some other MFGRs too. Stay tuned ;)
The stock exhaust pipe(LOSB5062) on the Raminator takes away from the full power of the Big Block M26ss, just like the stock exhaust pipe(LOSB5062) does on the M26ss on the Aftershock.
You could go with the Tuned Pipe
(LOSB5055) or the HT Tuned Pipe
(LOSB5059) like I have on my LST2 and comes stock on the XXL as well, which I did not reailze.
The pipe that comes with the LST XXL is the pipe you reference, the LOSB5059 HT Pipe. The Raminator comes with a muffler, not a tuned pipe, hence the difference in performance.
The Aftershock also comes with a muffler and not a tuned pipe, which is why I recommended the LOSB5059 HT tuned pipe as a hop-up for both the Raminator and Aftershock to gain better performance.
That is a nice truck

the1hotwheels 2 years ago
It might, the only thing you may need to change out would be the engine mounts. I'm not sure if those are the same between the two trucks.

Thanks a lot, now I want one! That telemetry and transmitter is great by it's self, but combine that with the xxl chassis and engine, I NEED IT!

The LST XXL includes the non-marine compatible version of the DX3S
HorizonRCdotCom 2 years ago
Hi, how u doing? may u help me, I have a Losi LST XXL, engine 454, I have a problem with intonation on my engine, the engine overheats I would like you to help me a bit with respect to lower the temperature, the engine reaches 225, 230, 235°F- 105-110ºC. thanks.
EGHC 2 years ago
You should see temps between 245-260 normally. Your engine isn't overheating, if anything it's not getting quite hot enough.
HorizonRCdotCom 2 years ago
Ok, thanks man
greenbaykj1 2 years ago
Well i dont rly know hehe I got if from a relative for 100kr (10 Euro) when he didnt have time for it anymore. Probably worth a few hundred with all the equipment.
Its on batteries by the way, making it easier to swap around different engines and other parts to have fun and experiment. Anyone can get one rly cheap ifu know how to repair/build em :)
Rumpfett 2 years ago
How much did it cost
greenbaykj1 2 years ago
Mine?
Rumpfett 2 years ago
Yes, please. Thanks.
greenbaykj1 2 years ago
I got an quite old car, still fun to experiment with different engines and other parts tho.
However, why dont u post a video letting it rip over some 400cm jumps? :D
Had mine go over a 550cm(only took some duckt tape and glue to fix).
Fun :D awesome car man ^^

Does anyone know if the Pull/Spin start from the XXL will fit on the stock Mach .26 engine on the original LST?
beardking 2 years ago
I don't believe it will but I am pretty sure there is a pull starter that will work. Contact product support and they should be able to get you the right info.
HorizonRCdotCom 2 years ago
yes it will
adb140275 2 years ago
You have to have the combo pull/spin start assembly #LOSR1037, which actually is for the M26ss and the 454.
taz1175 2 years ago
It's not, they made a running change to the radio to include the Marine programming and DSM2 compatibility. When they did they they also changed the part number to SPM3140 versus SPM3130, the old number.

LOSI TRUCKS RULE !!!!!!!!
taz1175 2 years ago
I just bought one, my first Losi. I have been running HPI Savages for 7 years now and they just don't compare to this beast.
Totally took it appart and modded it with HD plates, RCRaven Shock springs, New Era Roll Bar, 188oz Digital servos and added the wing kit.. Pulled out the engine and replaced it with a Picco .28 P3...NOW it is dialed in to my specifications and I can call it MY truck.
Thx.

i have a losi aftershock and was wondering if when i brake it in should i tune it a bit rich or just leave at stock settings till after brake in???
Rcjets555 2 years ago
You want to tune the engine so that it's right, not too rich or too lean. The problem with an engine that's too rich is that it will keep loading up on you and you'll have problems clearing the carb out and getting the full performance of the engine. Part of the break-in process is a gradual leaning out of your needles.

How would you compare the Losi LST to the Savage 5.9???
Newport1974 2 years ago
I haven't driven a Savage 5.9 so I can't speak towards the handling or performance. The LST XXL does feature the pull start/'spin start backplate where it looks like the Savage is spin start only. You also can't beat the radio system that comes with the XXL. A DX3S with the telemetry all setup for you out of the box? Sold!
HorizonRCdotCom 2 years ago
I have Watched Videos on the LST and the Savage and both seem to be pretty good trucks. I have Owned Many Electric trucks but never a Nitro. I have found the LST and the Savage 5.9 for around $400 to $450. I did notice that the Savage is a better selling truck though. I guess it's all preference.

Just picked up mine last weekend!
All I can say AWESOME!

plorwax 2 years ago
DX3S
On-Board Telemetry
10-model Memory
Marine-compatible
Now compatible with DSM2 receivers
DX3R
30-model memory
Fastest radio on the market
5.5 m/s frame rate
Assignable switches
HorizonRCdotCom 2 years ago
dose it come with every thing (incept the fuel) and dose it come with the dx3s
619viewloader 2 years ago
Pretty much. I think it even comes with the AA's for the transmitter, but I am not 100%

dude I am sorry but I like your losi vids but I can't bear your strong chicago/wisconsin accent. Sorry it must be because I am just a dumb bostonian and can't deal with other accents.

Awesome review of the LST XXl !
Where can I find Losi Nitotane 20% Sport
in the gallon(LOSF00220) ? MY LHS in Arizona, Hobby Bench, does not sell it any more. I am running Trinity Monster Horsepower 20% in my LST2 right now. Thanks !
taz1175 2 years ago
I would suggest yo call into the Horizon Hobby customer care department. Explain your situation and they should be able to steer you towards another local shop that should be able to get you some Nitrotane
HorizonRCdotCom 2 years ago
Thanks, I will do that, I really appreciate it !
taz1175 2 years ago
Thanks Kevin ! I'm running Dynamite Blue Thunder HP8 20% in my LST2 and it's10x better than the Trinity Monster Horsepower 20% that I was running. ;-)
BTW, still unable to find any Nitrotane ! :-(
taz1175 2 years ago
Thanks for the review, I enjoyed watching it. Your presenter clearly has an enthusiasm about what he is doing and the review was clear and concise. What I didn't like so much and I find throughout the entire RC industry is that nobody ever properly covers the negative aspects of products. I appreciate you are trying to keep the manufacturers happy but aren't the readers/watchers more important? I want to hear what doesn't quite make it about the truck, what breaks & what should be improved. TY!
Kizzard 2 years ago
Actually if you watch the recap section again I addressed that we didn't break a thing and that there weren't any issues. I did also voice a handling concern early on about the truck seemingly being soft on asphalt, almost to the point of my thinking about putting swaybars on it but it worked perfect on the dirt. This is also why I made a point to start the engine with the pull start vs the Spin Start, it was that easy. As a whole I didn't have any issues with this truck during my testing.
HorizonRCdotCom 2 years ago
Glad to hear everything was ok during the review. I sure did hear the comment about the sway bar and that nothing broke. But in general, you must know what I mean, right? I am am not renewing my subscription to any RC magazines this year because I'm not sure I've seen a review of a kit with less than 8/10 so far! The bad points are always glossed over "the steering servo could have been better" "the brakes were a little weak", etc. If I was new to RCs, I would expect they were all bulletproof!
Kizzard 2 years ago
I do and as someone who worked for the magazines for about 5 years I understand both sides of the argument. One of the reasons we don't score items when we review them, it's so subjective. Its also why we've added a Final Thoughts section to the reviews too (Click under the more info tab to see that). I'm also trying to show more crashing and such in videos specifically to answer the durability questions as well. We've got some cool stuff in the works with some other MFGRs too. Stay tuned ;)

Well I like your videos and how-tos and I think it is very nice of you guys to provide all this for free on youtube. Keep up the good work!

do you recommend the ht pipe for the raminator
joe0wnzu 2 years ago
Honestly the stock pipe worked extremely well.
HorizonRCdotCom 2 years ago
But it takes away from the full potential of the Big Block M26ss.
taz1175 2 years ago
What does?
HorizonRCdotCom 2 years ago
The stock exhaust pipe(LOSB5062) on the Raminator takes away from the full power of the Big Block M26ss, just like the stock exhaust pipe(LOSB5062) does on the M26ss on the Aftershock.
You could go with the Tuned Pipe
(LOSB5055) or the HT Tuned Pipe
(LOSB5059) like I have on my LST2 and comes stock on the XXL as well, which I did not reailze.
taz1175 2 years ago
The pipe that comes with the LST XXL is the pipe you reference, the LOSB5059 HT Pipe. The Raminator comes with a muffler, not a tuned pipe, hence the difference in performance.
HorizonRCdotCom 2 years ago
Yes, I know that now, thanks Kevin !!!!
The Aftershock also comes with a muffler and not a tuned pipe, which is why I recommended the LOSB5059 HT tuned pipe as a hop-up for both the Raminator and Aftershock to gain better performance.
taz1175 2 years ago
YES !

And you already have one now ! - lol
