  • That is a nice truck

  • Hi can any one help me with this problem

I have got a team losi lst and when I drive it I put some throttle on and then take it of but the engine will still go on driving for about 5 seconds or until I put the brake on dos or has had the same thing happen to the because I can't use the can when this is happening because it is unsafe help!!!

  • how much did you pay for Losi LST XXL's

  • The best LST XXL very good effective

  • I have a Muggy, and I'm also considering one of these

  • Is the heat sensor accurate on the dx3s?

  • @nitrocraz It's been good for me in my tests and running.

  • Im really tired of the traxxas fanboys everywhere. It is a decent brand but it is for BEGINNERS.i gi on a mugen seiki racing car video."ohh my nitro 4 tec can beat that". Nope, no fucking chance. The reason? Traxxas cars are for noobs. Bashers who know close to nothing about their rcs. Traxxas cars should NOT be compared to racing brands. Losi, ae, mugen, kyosho, etc. I dont have anything against traxxas. Just the fanboys that think their traxxas can beat every car on earth.

  • @FamousVideos4U i agree with everything u said. I have a rustler and its fun as hell but steering is shit center of gravity none, comparing it to my losi 8ight 2.0 race roller and my losi xxl is a snooze fest for my racing cars

  • is the lst xxl better than the savage x 4.6

  • I have a LST XXL and paid 220$ for it just needed a new clutch wow

  • @crazyfolgers lst xxl or savage xl?

    which one would you chose?

  • the only thing i dont like is the cost ill jus stick with my revo

  • the only thing i dont like is the cost

  • I have a savage xl.... Don't believe me? I'll post a video of it doing a backflip off da wall!!! It's awesome I'm THINKING OF GETING THIS ONE TOO but I prefer tvp chassis

  • keep on pressing 1

  • Has this been discontinued now? They're getting very rare here in the UK :/

  • @RTHounds it has not been discontinued.

  • @HorizonRCdotCom Ahh sweet. Do you know if they're releasing a newer version at all? Which may explain their rareness here

  • @RTHounds All I know is that the XXL is the most current version of the LST-platform. I do not know if there's anything in the works. It could simply be that the local shops aren't ordering the quantities they used to, I don't know.

  • @HorizonRCdotCom ok, thank you ;)

  • @HorizonRCdotCom no it hasnt rcboca.com

  • does this car have reverse?

  • @whiteoleandar Out of the box, no, however you can add the reverse gears and servo if you'd like.

  • @Atvman250cc I haven't used the 4.6 myself but I will say I never had any issues with this engine in this truck or in the 8IGHT-T 2.0 RTR

  • ''i dont care who you are,,that was awsome'' epic

  • Hey I'm in need of a new starter for my t-maxx (the EZ starter housing broke) and could I possibly buy that pull starter for it and I have the trx 2.5r engine in mind

  • @wrestlemaniac202 No, as the engine crankcases and backplates are of a different size and design.

  • Is that chassis durability and strong? It looks weird, if we compare it Savages chassis.

  • @Turoz96 Chassis durability hasn't been an issue. The Savage is actually a bit different than others with the TVP-style chassis.

  • do you think the starter with the pull start and drill start work on a savage x f4.6 nitro engine?

  • @SuperAiden101 You'd need to get one specifically designed for that engine. The one on this engine, more thank likely, would not fit.

  • is it 4wd?

  • @snakespat13 Yes it is

  • Didn't know that Kyle Gass is into Nitro RCs.^^

  • @jutjub666 Who?

  • bad azzz....son...lmao

  • just got one its amazing!

  • Can't help but think that this guy would drive a real, actual truck if his Mom would let him.

  • Im thinking of getting this.. for how long can you drive with that "tank" ?

  • @gollejohansson With the included fuel tank I want to say that runtime should be betwen 8-10 minutes, depending on the throttle usage.

  • i have a losi lst2 are they about the same trucks as a losi lst xxl

  • @solobender The XXL is about 20% longer, has the integrated telemetry and better transmitter too, just to name a few.

  • Are these factory tuned?

So after break in after 5 tanks, is all ready to go or do i have to make adjustments to the low speed, high speed and idle speed needles?

    Thanks.

  • @Awayze To a point but you'll always need to do some fine tuning based on atmospheric conditions, humidity, fuel, etc. It shoudl be really close out of the box though.

  • @HorizonRCdotCom Ah ok thanks.

I've narrowed down my decisions to Traxxas Revo 3.3 or Losi XXL, really tough to decide.

  • how good is the aftershock?

  • great engine the mach 454

  • sounds like a wimp for a big truck

  • Just bought 1 of these and its awesome

  • i want to get a gas one it be my frist one what one do you think i should get

  • is the savage xl stronger and more durable or is this thanks horizon

  • does it have a tuned exhaust or a muffler

  • @MrJoelucius It's a tuned pipe

  • im done with buggies im gettin a monster truck i cant make it to a track so buggys are dont have enogh suspension for rough stuff like that they only work well on a groomed track

  • @G0left .51 i think or .50

  • Nice review

  • the controler is awsome... should get a photo shoot of it in the sand so you can see the massive rooster tails it shoots up..

  • plz can you do a review on the losi aftershock?

  • I am really considering this truck. I had a Savage X that was stolen. I still have my Proline 40 series tires that came from it plus the original body and the Proline body I got for it. I know the bodies won't fit the truck lol. I also have my RB TM928 still with an Integy Aluminum flywheel and clutch set my question is will I have to change the Flywheel or will it be ok I am aware that the clutch bells are different. Also would the Rotostart from the Savage fit into the Chassis on the LST? TNX!

  • @Nuclearrc I'm not familiar with that RB engine or the flywheel setup it would have on it so I am not positive if you'd have to get a new one or not. There's no need to swap out the included starter with the Rotostart as it comes with a combo pull start/spin start mechanism.

  • @HorizonRCdotCom lol Well thanks for your help anyway! The TM 928 with the Integy flywheel flat out rips and makes good power and it's a .28. I'll see what happens I guess my suspicion is the flywheel will work on the LST XXL? lol Thought I'd ask though as every truck is different. But if you're not familiar with my motor and flywheel That's ok I did not know? lol Have a nice day!

  • @Nuclearrc Yeah, I'd rather say that I don't know than say it will and then have it not fit, you know? If you do get it working let us know, I am sure others would like to know.

  • do u have to take the body of to start it?

  • @707Madmax Nope, the starter unit slips in right in front of the left rear tire and the head pokes out of the bed of the body.

  • you should see my FG monster truck 1/5 scale, its pretty lame but the quality alright

  • has the losi lst xxl got more engine power than the savage xl?

  • thanks for the reply, what is the engine cc and has the losi got more engine power than the savage xxl

  • @707Madmax It's a .28-class engine. The Savage comes in 4-5 engine sizes depending on the truck. I think the Losi has more power than most of the Savages, however the...I want to say the 5.9-Savage is really close.

  • hi, when was this truck released? and what is better hpi savage xl or this losi lst xxl?

  • @707Madmax About a year ago now, I want to say it was June of 2009. Both are excellent trucks but you get a much better radio system with the XXL than what the Savage comes with, the XXL is longer and wider too.

  • @IbzSolja1 The XXL is a larger truck with a bigger displacement engine and better radio system.

  • Is it true that you void the engine warranty if you use another brand of nitro other than Nitrotane?

  • @TheSaracen01 I would double check the manual but I believe that is the case.

  • @TheSaracen01

Who cares. How should they find out which fuel you used?

  • especially since its massive compared to the revo.. which is predominantly a racing truck anyway

  • i love the lst xxl it fast cool hevydode and more i cant wate to get my truck . =) =)

  • hmm isn't 140 F a bit low???... don't you need to reach around 200 to 250

  • We didn't do any straight-line speed runs. Trust me, it can hang with the Revo just fine.

  • Okay, thanks for the crazy fast answer, I'm surprised it starts that well.

  • Okay,I haves few questions, 1. Was that a cold start, or did you start it after you had already been running the truck 2. Does the xxl have steel spur gears out of the box 3. Does it have 1 or 2 spur gears because in the transmission it looks like the two speed mechanism is in it, but there are two sets of teeth on the clutch bell. Nice video helps me a lot with deciding on my next car (lst xxl) 5*

  • That start you see there, the very first one was the first start of the day. I'm pretty sure it does have steel spur gears and there are 2 of them. The 2-speed is a standard item and comes installed on the truck.

  • thank u for the help

  • i went 2 the hobby shop and i saw nitrotane and i read it was made by losi. does this mean that it is ment for losi engines?

  • Yes and no. I use Nitrotane in just about everything I run, regardless of the engine manufacturer. Losi does recommend you use Nitrotane in their engines.

  • Its a .28

  • i just got a customized monter truck and the shop owner owned it and it has a skid plate reverse other stuff but it doesnt have brakes i might wana get brakes installed

  • We aim to please :)

  • I have only run the Savage Flux. I believe engine sizes are closer between these two than the Revo 3.3 but the LST XXL still has the best radio included in an RTR Hands Down.

  • I don't have any experience with the Revo 3.3 but just looking feature-for-feature the LST XXL has a MUCH better radio system, larger displacement engine, larger-volume shocks and more.

  • did u have to change the glow plug at all with that 30% nitrotane and the engine is a losi .28 rite?

  • I didn't have to but I did choose to after I broke the engine in before I started filming. When you're breaking the engine in you can sometimes get small metal shards that wear off of the piston and sleeve during the process. This can, at times, foul the plug. After that I never had to replace the plug and, quite honestly, I probably could have run that plug without issue.

  • thanks i just orderd one of these today i got some fuel and a bunch of hop up parts my total was like 850

  • very nice truck looks very strong

  • I just bought the XXL and it is massive and powerfull, I am very impressed, I have about 6 nitro monster trucks and this is my favorite, you can check out some of my trucks on my channel.

  • my was $1000

  • It's only $669.99 on the Horizon Hobby site currently.

  • @horizonrcdotcom

Can the truck do wheelies too?

Does the engine have almost as much power n efficiency running on 20% Nitro as it does with 30%? thnx.

  • It has the power to do so however the way the suspension is setup I don't think you could get the rear end to not absorb the energy to the point where it would wheelie. Efficiency is about the same between both 20 and 30%, I just personally prefer 30% with the larger displacement engines.

  • thanku very much for the info. can one change the suspension easily back and forward or is that fixed? As for the nitro %age i asked coz here in Germany the nitromethane is the costly substance abt 8 eur/litre whilst the methanol only costs abt eur 2,50. thnx again.

  • The suspension is very tunable. You can change springs, shock oil and more. I'm sure you could do it, it would just take some testing and tuning.

  • can this truck be fit with a remote starting system from losi as well like the ten-t? if so how much wld tht cost? thnx.

  • I don't believe so. If you'd be able to do it you would have to do a lot of custom fabricating of parts to make it work.

  • thnx. i also read u offer the Losi Ten-T with R.O.S.S. Wanted to know whether tht comes with a reverse gear too?

  • I believe that is forward-only

  • Would installing a HPI 5.6 engine increase my XXL's power and speed? Will it fit on the stock engine mount?

  • I'm not familiar with that engine so I don't know, sorry.

  • Thanks for the reply, I meant the K5.9 from the Savage XL. Love the Losi though, I have had a Savage 25, and two Savage X, and the Losi XXL takes them all hands down. I've switched camps to Losi along with my dad. Cant wait to bash with his LST2 and my XXL

  • just bought mine checkout mine

  • Telemetry??? WTF thats amazing.... i want that.

  • I almost bought a Revo Platinum edition, until I seen the radio for the XXL. It was the radio that hooked me, but now that my XXL is broken in, I'm ecstatic for the Losi.

The telemetry makes engine tuning easy without having to shine a temp gun down the head of the engine. And who doesn;t want to know how fast their truck just cruised the block.

  • thanks for reply! its on my christmas list!!

  • is there any differance in us and uk spec trucks as i have just orderd one from us and i live in the uk thanks

  • Main thing is the radio, and that's a minor difference. I believe the UK version has a slightly lower RF output to conform to standards and regulations.

  • thanks horizonrc

  • this truck looks bad ass....but the greatest monster truck ever created was the savage 4.6...I own many nitro trucks and I am sorry but nothing can touch a savage..and no matter how big the tires that are installed on this thing I doubt its better

  • the engine 454 fit on my raminator??

  • It might, the only thing you may need to change out would be the engine mounts. I'm not sure if those are the same between the two trucks.

  • Thanks a lot, now I want one! That telemetry and transmitter is great by it's self, but combine that with the xxl chassis and engine, I NEED IT!

  • i have a lst2 but i need 1.

  • Cool! at my local store down under its $1099! oh well got some saving to do! lol

  • The LST XXL includes the non-marine compatible version of the DX3S

  • Hi, how u doing? may u help me, I have a Losi LST XXL, engine 454, I have a problem with intonation on my engine, the engine overheats I would like you to help me a bit with respect to lower the temperature, the engine reaches 225, 230, 235°F- 105-110ºC. thanks.

  • You should see temps between 245-260 normally. Your engine isn't overheating, if anything it's not getting quite hot enough.

  • Ok, thanks man

  • Well i dont rly know hehe I got if from a relative for 100kr (10 Euro) when he didnt have time for it anymore. Probably worth a few hundred with all the equipment.

Its on batteries by the way, making it easier to swap around different engines and other parts to have fun and experiment. Anyone can get one rly cheap ifu know how to repair/build em :)

  • How much did it cost

  • Mine?

  • Yes, please. Thanks.

  • I got an quite old car, still fun to experiment with different engines and other parts tho.

However, why dont u post a video letting it rip over some 400cm jumps? :D

Had mine go over a 550cm(only took some duckt tape and glue to fix).

Fun :D awesome car man ^^

  • Does anyone know if the Pull/Spin start from the XXL will fit on the stock Mach .26 engine on the original LST?

  • I don't believe it will but I am pretty sure there is a pull starter that will work. Contact product support and they should be able to get you the right info.

  • yes it will

  • You have to have the combo pull/spin start assembly #LOSR1037, which actually is for the M26ss and the 454.

  • It's not, they made a running change to the radio to include the Marine programming and DSM2 compatibility. When they did they they also changed the part number to SPM3140 versus SPM3130, the old number.

  • love losi trucks

  • LOSI TRUCKS RULE !!!!!!!!

  • I just bought one, my first Losi. I have been running HPI Savages for 7 years now and they just don't compare to this beast.

Totally took it appart and modded it with HD plates, RCRaven Shock springs, New Era Roll Bar, 188oz Digital servos and added the wing kit.. Pulled out the engine and replaced it with a Picco .28 P3...NOW it is dialed in to my specifications and I can call it MY truck.

    Thx.

  • Wow, sounds like an awesome project! Send us some pictures, we'd love to see what you did!!

  • i have a losi aftershock and was wondering if when i brake it in should i tune it a bit rich or just leave at stock settings till after brake in???

  • You want to tune the engine so that it's right, not too rich or too lean. The problem with an engine that's too rich is that it will keep loading up on you and you'll have problems clearing the carb out and getting the full performance of the engine. Part of the break-in process is a gradual leaning out of your needles.

  • How would you compare the Losi LST to the Savage 5.9???

  • I haven't driven a Savage 5.9 so I can't speak towards the handling or performance. The LST XXL does feature the pull start/'spin start backplate where it looks like the Savage is spin start only. You also can't beat the radio system that comes with the XXL. A DX3S with the telemetry all setup for you out of the box? Sold!

  • I have Watched Videos on the LST and the Savage and both seem to be pretty good trucks. I have Owned Many Electric trucks but never a Nitro. I have found the LST and the Savage 5.9 for around $400 to $450. I did notice that the Savage is a better selling truck though. I guess it's all preference.

  • Just picked up mine last weekend!

    All I can say AWESOME!

    ENDLES POWER!

  • whats difference between dx3s and dx3r?

  • DX3S

    On-Board Telemetry

    10-model Memory

    Marine-compatible

    Now compatible with DSM2 receivers

    DX3R

    30-model memory

    Fastest radio on the market

    5.5 m/s frame rate

    Assignable switches

  • dose it come with every thing (incept the fuel) and dose it come with the dx3s

  • Pretty much. I think it even comes with the AA's for the transmitter, but I am not 100%

  • dude I am sorry but I like your losi vids but I can't bear your strong chicago/wisconsin accent. Sorry it must be because I am just a dumb bostonian and can't deal with other accents.

  • I have the LST2 and it is a great truck...This one will rock too.

  • The LST2 is definately a GREAT TRUCK !

The XXL does rock, just check out my buddy donxavier11's channel and see !

  • Awesome review of the LST XXl !

Where can I find Losi Nitotane 20% Sport

in the gallon(LOSF00220) ? MY LHS in Arizona, Hobby Bench, does not sell it any more. I am running Trinity Monster Horsepower 20% in my LST2 right now. Thanks !

  • I would suggest yo call into the Horizon Hobby customer care department. Explain your situation and they should be able to steer you towards another local shop that should be able to get you some Nitrotane

  • Thanks, I will do that, I really appreciate it !

  • Thanks Kevin ! I'm running Dynamite Blue Thunder HP8 20% in my LST2 and it's10x better than the Trinity Monster Horsepower 20% that I was running. ;-)

BTW, still unable to find any Nitrotane ! :-(

  • Thanks for the review, I enjoyed watching it. Your presenter clearly has an enthusiasm about what he is doing and the review was clear and concise. What I didn't like so much and I find throughout the entire RC industry is that nobody ever properly covers the negative aspects of products. I appreciate you are trying to keep the manufacturers happy but aren't the readers/watchers more important? I want to hear what doesn't quite make it about the truck, what breaks & what should be improved. TY!

  • Actually if you watch the recap section again I addressed that we didn't break a thing and that there weren't any issues. I did also voice a handling concern early on about the truck seemingly being soft on asphalt, almost to the point of my thinking about putting swaybars on it but it worked perfect on the dirt. This is also why I made a point to start the engine with the pull start vs the Spin Start, it was that easy. As a whole I didn't have any issues with this truck during my testing.

  • Glad to hear everything was ok during the review. I sure did hear the comment about the sway bar and that nothing broke. But in general, you must know what I mean, right? I am am not renewing my subscription to any RC magazines this year because I'm not sure I've seen a review of a kit with less than 8/10 so far! The bad points are always glossed over "the steering servo could have been better" "the brakes were a little weak", etc. If I was new to RCs, I would expect they were all bulletproof!

  • I do and as someone who worked for the magazines for about 5 years I understand both sides of the argument. One of the reasons we don't score items when we review them, it's so subjective. Its also why we've added a Final Thoughts section to the reviews too (Click under the more info tab to see that). I'm also trying to show more crashing and such in videos specifically to answer the durability questions as well. We've got some cool stuff in the works with some other MFGRs too. Stay tuned ;)

  • Well I like your videos and how-tos and I think it is very nice of you guys to provide all this for free on youtube. Keep up the good work!

  • We aim to please :)

  • I think you have a tail lol

  • LOL, uh that's like the mic cord and stuff ;)

  • do you recommend the ht pipe for the raminator

  • Honestly the stock pipe worked extremely well.

  • But it takes away from the full potential of the Big Block M26ss.

  • What does?

  • The stock exhaust pipe(LOSB5062) on the Raminator takes away from the full power of the Big Block M26ss, just like the stock exhaust pipe(LOSB5062) does on the M26ss on the Aftershock.

You could go with the Tuned Pipe

(LOSB5055) or the HT Tuned Pipe

(LOSB5059) like I have on my LST2 and comes stock on the XXL as well, which I did not reailze.

  • The pipe that comes with the LST XXL is the pipe you reference, the LOSB5059 HT Pipe. The Raminator comes with a muffler, not a tuned pipe, hence the difference in performance.

  • Yes, I know that now, thanks Kevin !!!!

The Aftershock also comes with a muffler and not a tuned pipe, which is why I recommended the LOSB5059 HT tuned pipe as a hop-up for both the Raminator and Aftershock to gain better performance.

  • YES !

  • And you already have one now ! - lol

  • never in my life of racing nitro i herd to keep the the ingnitro in the engine what you will get doing that is blown plug

    <
