What I don't understand is... if the machine parts of a Cyberman can still move and "think" independently without a living human brain inside, then why do they need human brains/heads in the first place? What is there to gain from "fresh meat" if all it does is sit in there and rot?
@BadWolfSJ Yes, one of the many complaints against Moffet. He writes things that completely ignore/alter long established standards of the show. Of course, Moffet fans will defend to the death his right to do so...
@bhobtoo Keep in mind 2 things. It seems the original Cyberman shell has the capability for simple commands and actions, but is weaker (and has simpler programming) than a driven Cyberman suit. Remember Mickey fought one off on the Blimp after confirming it was hollow.
The same thing applied to the astronaut suit. It can function basically on its own, but needed a driver to operate its more advanced functions.
@Chrisindapurplehouse You should learn to accept people before you call them trolls. I didn't insult anyone, nor did I make rude remarks, nor did I insult Doctor Who, as it's my favourite program. Calling people a troll is really not in the spirit of the program. Have the decency to at least tell people it doesn't sound right to you, before you jump to the derogatory remarks.
@antpenguin Only the Cybus Cybermen from the parallel earth remove the brain. Moff has brought back the original cybermen from this universe (sadly due to the costume, loads of people think they the cybus ones), and they convert the entire body
@antpenguin Only the Cybus Cybermen from the parallel earth remove the brain. Moff has brought back the original cybermen from this universe (sadly due to the costume, loads of people think they the cybus ones), and they convert the entire body
@shmikex Yeah, I will admit it is really confusing for those who don't follow Moff's twitters, or haven't seen much pre 2005 Doctor Who. He really needs to have it stated on screen, instead of a bunch of hint. Funny you should mention a Cyber-war, Was only talking about that the other day, and it would make a great special
@Kaagh178 the Cybermen were first introduced in 1966 and we first saw The Borg in 1988, so The Cybermen were first and they are both very similar in their own right
@BarneystudiozFilmz I said they were first. The Cybermen first cropped up as you said in William Hartnell's swansong, 'The Tenth Planet' in 1966. The Borg weren't in the original Star Trek and didn't appear until The Next Generation. They're similar species in many respects with the exception that the Borg operate as a collective (unless a Borg is freed) whereas the Cybermen operate alone if need be as shown in this scene.
2:09 that proves that the Cybermen are now trying to be the Borg, in the original Doctor Who they never said that. next thing you know it will say "resistance is futile."
Going back to the old series with David Tennant as the Doctor, when they're in the parallel universe, you find that the circle piece on their chest opens up and contains what operates them, parts of the brain and every single emotion...but the emotions are off, which when the Doctor switches the emotions on, the Cyberman then sees him/herself as human again and notices what they have become, driving them insane and eventually resulting to death. But that is how they still work xx
@redjirachi1 I know that, but the whole point of the Cyberman body was to extend the life of a human. It isn't supposed to operate independantly of a human brain. And yet here it is, very clearly working without one. I don't know, it kinda annoys me. The writing lately has gotten.... ridiculous.
The Cybermen convert people because they believe its the right thing to do. Not to increase their numbers or anything. And by the way a Cyberman operated without a brain in "The Age of Steel" so its hardly a new thing for the Cybus Cybermen.
im confused if the cybus cybermen are just a brain in a suit then how come this one had a skull in its head? even still this isnt the only bit where there has been a cybus cyberman with more body parts than just the brain.
@RandomCyberDude164 In the season 2 episode 'Doomsday' the Cybermen had a battle with the Daleks and both sides needed more troops so rather than transplanting the brain they just put whole bodies inside the Cyber Suit.
@lkgrave Technically, star trek using that phrase was a knock against doctor who since the the Cybermen used it in their first story 'The Tenth Planet' in 1966
@Pacorocks411 Funny you should say that. Moffat was playing that music from the first Indiana Jones movie, specifically that part when Indy takes the Golden Idol and replaces it with a bag of sand in the Temple when they were filming the Pandorica scenes in order to get Matt and Karen "in the mood"
@Pacorocks411 At you? No of course not! Really though, they were playing Indiana Jones music on set to get them "in the mood". Saw it on Doctor Who confidential for this episode.
@Pacorocks411 So Indiana Jones had a cyberman with no head, a time lord being electrocuted by an arm, a girl who can bring things back with her memories, and a box called the Pandorica that can trap time itself?
@jrdennis95 Obviously, you didn't read what I said. I said "When the Cyberman's helmet opened they copied it from Indiana Jones. Nice going moffat" I am not talking about the episode or anything about it. Just that when the Cyberman's helmet opened and it shook and made "ghostly" laughing they copied it from Indiana Jones. @Hecatean Did they not say something like these are the Mondasian Cybermen but they didn't have enough money in the budget to make a whole new Cyberman suit just for one or two scenes?
@Demonsword92 Good point well made but then parallel worlds, big coincidences and a splash of poet license aren't the poorest of bedfellows. If they'd written the story a bit differently and had Lumic create Terran Daleks in Pete's world I imagine they would have been identicle to the Daleks of 2005- 2010. If I, the DWM lot and anyone else in our camp are right *shrugs*then we're right, if we're wrong *shrugs*then we're wrong. Just a bit of fun.
@Demonsword92 Quote: Check out 'The Age of Steel' for the following line from the Doctor "There are cybermen in our universe". Note he says "-there ARE" not "-there WERE" . Granted Mondas was destroyed but many cybermen migrated from there to Telos and adopted (or rather stole it) as their home planet. There's no evidence to suggest the cybermen native to the Doctor's universe have been wiped from time a la the Time Lords.
@Demonsword92 no theyre not both still exist and the cybermen look similar to modasian cyberman because lumics team discover the head and part of shell casing of a dead mondasian cyberman in his universe the technology is based on but in our universe as shown in the game which is canon the mondasian cybermen have merged with paralell earths cybermen for mutual benefit the only difference is that on the chest the logo looks like cybermans face this one with the pandorica is obviously from b4 then
@Chrisindapurplehouse well i don't remember watching that on doctor who lol i thought they look the same through pure coincidence or to please the fans,we can't have them looking different now ;) look what happened to the teletubby daleks
@Demonsword92 it was in the canon of the game which is canon to rest of the franchise strangely amy has to be explained what a cyberman is here even the game is ostensibly set before this episode since rory isnt around maybe rory was busy at the time and it is after pandorica or amy is just forgetful nevertheless in the game that explaination is applied though never actually stated by the cyberman more through a series of flashbacks and some exposition from the doctor
@Superspy315 It's a little musical call back to Murray Gold's theme for the Cybermen that he composed for Series 2. He somehow makes it a bit darker and creepier, in my honest opinion.
@Denyernator haha never noticed that. I remember they had a guy with one arm for this scene, but then they had to reshoot some of it and the guy wasn't available, so they covered the guys arm in green so that they could erase it later. Guess they forgot about the shadow.

@Chrisindapurplehouse well i don't remember watching that on doctor who lol i thought they look the same through pure coincidence or to please the fans,we can't have them looking different now ;) look what happened to the teletubby daleks
Demonsword92 9 months ago
@Demonsword92 it was in the canon of the game which is canon to rest of the franchise strangely amy has to be explained what a cyberman is here even the game is ostensibly set before this episode since rory isnt around maybe rory was busy at the time and it is after pandorica or amy is just forgetful nevertheless in the game that explaination is applied though never actually stated by the cyberman more through a series of flashbacks and some exposition from the doctor

in The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang even though the Silence was the real villain the Cybermen and the Daleks took the spotlight in the finale.

I love it when the Doctor jumps out & says "Look at me! I'm a target!"

Love the music when The Cyber Body comes out from the shadows. Anyone tell me what it's called?
Superspy315 1 year ago
@Superspy315 It's sorta like a new version of The Cybermen theme music from series 2.
Dalek44 1 year ago
@Superspy315 It's a little musical call back to Murray Gold's theme for the Cybermen that he composed for Series 2. He somehow makes it a bit darker and creepier, in my honest opinion.

Now the Cybermen are worthy villains again!

Denyernator 1 year ago
@Denyernator haha never noticed that. I remember they had a guy with one arm for this scene, but then they had to reshoot some of it and the guy wasn't available, so they covered the guys arm in green so that they could erase it later. Guess they forgot about the shadow.
JohnsySHR 1 year ago
@JohnsySHR Yeah I saw that confidential too. I think that's when I first noticed it.
