@YaBoyLuc You're never too young to enjoy music, regardless of how old the tune is. I'm 28 and love this stuff, as well as songs that were considered "old" when my parents were growing up...
Yeah I agree but that is just this performance. As it is on tv he probably had to sing it in a happy way. The actual recorded version is a lot slower and less happy.
I had to reply to you personally given the fact that you have some suspicions about the genuiness of Amos's smile. I'm based in England and in contact with Amos' s nephew in California and I can assure you that the man was for real, there is no "smiling for the cameras". He wasn't being goofy at all. Feel free to reply if you want, it would be good to hear from you x
Dieser Blues begleitet mich schon lange. Endlich nach dreissig Jahren finde ich diesen Spitzenblues im Internet wieder. Soll man es denn glauben. Vive le web.
Smooth players, and one smooth cat behind the keys. Clothes had such style then!
Those fingers were schooled in a barrel house, not Berkley. Rolling notes like I heard in church after the sermon was done and the snacks came out. Thanks for posting, documenting part of our collective artistic history.
This is great! Amos Milburn was a household name when I was child. I can clearly remember my sister and I sitting in the backseat of our parents' car and singing along to this song on the radio.
That's right!!! My late great boyfriend, the late, great Floyd Phillips..(Johnny Copeland's close friend since they were both age 13...in Houston, TX) & keyboard player for many years...taught me about Amos Milburn. He considered him one of his greatest influences. Now...I get a chance to see what he was talking about...thanks so much for posting.
I'm still trying to track down a copy of Amos Milburn's Motown LP from 1963. He is great. My favorite song by him is "I'll Make It Up To You Somehow" on Motown. Where did you ever find this footage?
You're so naughty, whiskey. Doing that to this poor man. Shame on you! :)

There is no conflict between the happy music and the sad lyrics.
Many choose alchool and party over a stady relationship.
And in many case the blame is on the bad whisky not themselves.
It is not emo inner child suffering kind of song.
It is a folk/party song.A great song.

real conflict here between the lyrics and sound of the song, not to mention amos' goofy perpetual smile. great track though just strange in a way
