I think players should be able to ask Chairs if they should challenge since that's the Chair's job to overrule on a bad call. There should be a written rule that you get five seconds to make up your mind whether you want to challenge a call or not. But that's just moi...lol

If he had acted as if he didn't want to challenge and then changed his mind and wanted to challenge, there he would'nt be authorized to. but he has the right to try and look the mark before challenging. and if you disagree you should criticize the umpire, not nadal.

@Rafathaman94 What use does saying 'it was close' make ? None at all, that just means the umpire agrees with the call but isn't going to overrule it, so the player is wasting his time asking him. I doubt it's on YT but Nadull took a serve from Cilic, the ball landed on the otherside of the court and then Nadull challenged ... and of course the pansy umpire let it happen. Pitiful stuff, until we get umpires who know how to handle it then players are always going to push the boundaries.

Murray's right the challenge has to be immediate but this sort of thing from Nadal and most players on tour is common place these days, it's not really the players I blame at all because they get away with it so easily, the umpires just have no balls in these situations. Immediate challenge is what the rulebook says.
