I totally agree, I didn't think they looked like much when I first saw them in the store. I really wasn't planning on buying them, but after seeing them in the cartoon and seeing their personalities I had to take a second look at them in the store. I ended up picking them up, but didn't expect much from them. To my surprise I actually really like them!

I had a similar reaction.They may not be as great as other mergers (or figure in general), but it's nice to actually HAVE a merger in the new series. And though the Safeguard Jet mode might be a little lackluster in it's connections, the fact that there are so many options with this pair as far as posability, playability, and forms have made it/ them a great addition to my collection.

I dont think the third pegs are supposed to go together...thier there cuz the chest folds down mostly...and it lets the chest clip in....also just to let you know there was supposed to be a X-wing mode...didnt get done for some reason...hehehe

just picked him up today along with optimus. for the same price each, i like Safeguard much more.

The actual Safeguard mode is killer, bi seem to have a problem keep the "crotch tab" together. other than that, it was completely worth the price.

Yeah, dont get me wrong, I love the idea of twin brother autobots. And they are a wonderful idea but i cant help but nit pic at the design a little bit. It wouldnt have bin to hard to put the safeguard heads on a like half a sphere. that way when they peg together both align and then you get head articulation. Dont you think that the color scheem is a bit off with the orange and blue mixing in?

Cuz of your review, I now know that Safeguard has more arm articulation (I thought his arms weren't supposed to move forward and back, but I forgot to turn that piece around....I feel stupid lol). And I didn't know the cockpits opened either...stupid me :)

Really liked the character-bio in the beginning, sounded like something silverbolt would say in one of his reviews.

I have to say that the toy agrees with me. it's appealing and each of the pieces have pretty good looking articulation from the appearance.

Might go and get it actually, it looked only so-so in the store. I think a lot more people would buy it if it were packaged in Safeguard mode.

As jetfire is my fav character, when i saw him I was thinking "OMG WTF!?!?! ORANGE? has he signed up with easy jet?" But after that reveiw chances are I'll get him, your right it is better to have a proper look at them.

I absolutely love this set. When we first heard about it, I thought it seemed interesting, first saw pics I was a bit wary, more pics and reviews came and I really grew my interest in them. Finally picked them up, some of my favorites in the line. Individual modes are IMO better for both alt and robot, but the combined modes are both rather nice, Safeguard himself really grew on me as well once I found his heels and figured out to turn the joint on his shoulders around for better movement.
