  • I remember this coming out. It wasn't a big hit and I thought 'what the hell is this doing at no.20 in the charts when bloody tuneless Madonna is at No.1'. This track sounds very 80's but still a class track.

  • top.

  • Great song, great video! The wonderful chemistry between Paul and Carol is very tactile and visible, and I love watching it over and over again.

  • any instrumental version of this?

  • Great song, great vid :-)

Can't go wrong with Paul Hardcastle !!!

  • Love this sound !

  • Of course I meant Delbert Wilkins, Lenny Henry's character, Not Delbert McClintock, that was Arachnophobia!

  • @themanmaschine That was a CRUCIAL mistake.

  • Remember Lenny Henry as Delbert McClintock! I remember listening to this on the David 'Kid' Jenson show on a sunday teatime in 1986, really classic!

  • horrible video... GREAT SONG...

  • possibly the worst video I've ever seen. lol

  • @MrPersecutor1 But I bet they thought it was off the hook when they made it. :)

  • 80's were en apic time for music in rock, hair metal, jazz, pop music but thesedays you just dont feel that special thing inside music

  • She also released 3 singles "Warrior Woman" "Dance with me" and "Love Shouts" anyone know where she is now?

  • @Madtraveller100 She has her own website and recently toured with Roger Waters and sang in Dark Side of the Moon.

  • @Unterscharfuhrer

    she was class doing too

  • i remember reading a comment on a video and someone said that Carol was his grandma :0. if i can find it i'll let you know ;) mabe he could help you? ;)

  • @TheMscrp yes! :)) she sang the gowest track "Ball of confusion" which i have posted(Audio only) ;) was originally a hit for the Temptations back in the 70's .

  • 1:59 epic

  • Sounds as if Paul was listening to some good 'ol D.C. go-go back in the day...

  • @TheMscrp she also sang backing vocals on some gowest tracks and appears in their "Don't Look Down" video

  • W8. Is this gd Hydrocity from Sonic 3?

  • Wellbran.... go back to your schoolboy rap crap.....

  • UNDERRATED !!

  • que est ce que j'adore ça, printemps 1986

  • These days evryone is watching and listening to x factor wannabees who cannot sing a jot. What ever happened to the British music scene. Especially all the Black British soul eg being Black and British was cool and hip now we just mimmick all the US crap

  • @WELLBRAN x factor = total karaoke shite! how people can watch this interminable drivel week after week is quite beyond me...gr8 song this btw!

  • @WELLBRAN

    Well put!

  • lol good work

  • i don't think paul can do those jump and diving moves nowadays...

  • What's happened to the music scene, this has no women half naked and some rapper cutting in half way through the song. This is timeless music, love to go back to the 80's.

  • @rochstan123 quite agree

  • F I E R C E!

  • Viva le 80's

  • i feel honoured to be an 80's child this is fab anythink from the 80's but ph is so cool just to chill out to even today ..............

  • A very cool, smooth music video from Paul Hardcastle, the master of 'smooth jazz'. Carol Kenyon on vocal and Paul himself on synthesizer. A blast from the past.

  • You are correct! No painted on clothing. Modesty

  • This is the funkiest shit i've ever heard. DAAAAYYYUUUMMM i wished i lived in that era

  • hi,

i'm 15 and i really like the 80's and st.germain and stuff is that wird for 2010 15 years old child xd.. joking really like it :)

  • Does anyone know what the catalog number for this particular 7" mix is? It seems that all I find is that other mix, except for the 12" version of this in which I already have on The Definitive Paul Hardcastle CD from 1993. I dig this mix better.

    Thanks,

    Ray Jackson

  • love how the chorus sounds just like '19'

  • Yeeeeeeesssss!!!

  • great funky sound, I agree, sound was much better before than now

  • Great Track,

Good to see Paul Still Kikin Ass Stateside,

  • So many great memories being a teenager!

  • Wicked tune from PH - I want the 80's back RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

So remember watching them on TOTP back in the day.

  • Jammin' on the key-tar! Nobody does it better!!

  • Amen.. Indeed a much simplier time... Miami Vice, Duran Duran, Hall and Oates, Pac Man, and the Rubix Cube..=-) Can ya feel me??

  • Bravoooo.

  • That's fucking groovy man..

  • this is NOT funk, digital screams. a programmed synth bass line is NOT funk. funk is a dirty feeling. Listen to some James Brown dude.

  • too bad paul died of aids last year, he was found dead in a old run down motel in new york with his keyboard guitar shoved halfway up his ass, police say the keyboard was still playing while they hauled him out, it was making farty sounds similiar to the ones in this song. autopsy revealed he didn't die from the keyboard trauma but from an HIV infection that he got from numerous gay encounters.

  • @angelnicolel1000 not paul hardcastle

  • ??? Anything about this on the net?

  • another top tune from the 80s by the magician paul h.

  • wicked choon x

  • One of the Best Uk Musicians from back in the day,

and now with a new mix of 19

    Wicked,

  • Without the vocals it sounds like something off sonic the hedgehog lol

  • @decromax

Dude, I was thinking the exact same thing!

  • Ahh the days when women didn't have to undress to sell tunes. I miss the 80's

  • @edesir: Yes, today's music industries just count on primitive instincts to catch the attention of consumers and potential fans, buyers and they completely brainwash the society. Long live the 80s! :)

  • @edesir they cant sell any records to me when they undress because I'm gay. So I love the 80s even more (Which is my childhood time anyway :)

  • @shairaptor lol ENOLA GAY

  • Some classic FUNK.

They need to get rid of all this updated

minstrel music and go back to the real FUNK.

  • You got that right!

  • Best era for Paul Hardcastle music, sooo much quality material and remixes floating around in the mid 80s. A time of great innovation and experimentation with the latest music technology.

  • I can sing the bass line it's so great! :) Pay attention to the bass line instead of the melody for once, you discover the tune for a second time. True classic, I love it since the 80s! =)

  • super super... merci

  • Carol Kenyon has the best voice!

  • so I know what Ive been missing all the time: 80s music with great blasting souns, a must-listen!!

  • Carol Kenyon has a great voice. She sang on Heaven 17's "Temptation", and Rapination's "Here's My A".

  • Where has it all gone, the 80s were the best with bmx and breakdance and tracks like this, it all went wrong from early nineties.

  • I agree with baby. It's just how it use to be.

Music was not just good back then, IT

    WAS FUN!!!

    Raven

  • don't forget there was COLD WAR back then

they had to produce funny music ;-)

  • what's up moremost? great point...

    Raven

  • Paul is the best, I miss those good old music.

  • kb synth master in action

  • THE WIZARD! If you don't know ask somebody. The greatest keyboard synth playersand pioneer. Style so unique that no one can copy.

  • You aint wrong bud just loved the 80s

  • thats right yhome boy ou cant get street beat 80s bring it back home boy

  • Paul Hardcastle is genius, and you just gotta love those cherished synth riffs...you just can't get that sort of sound today!

  • PURE QUALITY from the best era of music around the 80's. Thanks for posting this ..

  • Is this song a rip of Jocyln Browns Somebody else's guy? It reminds me of it sooo much

  • Yeah,so funky ...

  • goddamn that synth riff at 1:15 is fire

  • God, listen to the funk and synth sounds. Two qualities soooooo lacking from pop music today. I can hear some DX7, Jupiter 8 and Mini Moog in there. Modern music sucks

  • DX7: yes, the tubular bells preset. I haven't heard the charts for over 10 years now. I know why. 80s and 90 had much better hits! I wish they would throw out all these modern acts and produce great hits again. Pop music of today really s*cks! Paul Hardcastle is the best!

  • Mr Hardcastle produced some great songs, the best of which is Guilty, now that a tune. I have it on 12!

  • FOBPUZJIG

  • I loved this song when it came out...it puzzled me why it wasn't a hit in the States. Another Hardcastle joint that got the job done. He's underrated outside the UK. I have to tell people that the man did MUCH more than Nnnnnineteen!

  • i'm really amazed that hardly anybody actually knows Paul Hardcastle, one of the greatest musicians of all time

  • This one leaped out at me when it was new, I know there was one other he did so three in total I'm aware of ... I have this and 19 on 12" vinyl still

FAntastic lyrics - sums it up to anyone that you've had to dump

  • fantastic, the eighties, EVERYTHING the world isnt now, BRING BACK THE 80'S!!

  • @UBIQUEROL i second that

  • @UBIQUEROL

    Hear here! :D

  • Superb, what a great song by Paul Hardcastle.

I wish modern pop music would clean its act up,and concentrate on producing decent hits again.

  • Man I remember hearing this on my way to a softball tournament. My homeboy FRANCHISE started free styling old disk jockey rhymes from this cut. We had a ball. Thanks for the post thesushiman.

  • great jam

  • Paul Hardcastle -- CoolWhiteGuy.

  • Dig those 80s jump suits... Random!

  • Wow, had almost forgotten about this from 1986. Carole Kenyon had provided vocals previously on 1983's "Temptation" by Heaven 17.

  • Really? Cool, thanks for the info. I recorded the vinyl (Heaven 17's album from 1983 incl Temptation) to MP3, gotta listen to it again, now that I know it's Carloe singing! :)

  • This is a lovely tune!!Forgotten gem!!!

  • Fantastic combination! The boogie of Paul Hardcastle and the Soul Voice of Carol Kenyon! Brilliant 80ees Track! Evergreen!
