I would just like to say for the record that the message in this movie, while perhaps MOST appealing to anarchists, and DOES utilize the symbolism of the "A" for anarchy symbolism (i.e. upside down V), the message itself is also anti-fascist government, or oppressive big government in general.

I don't endorse violence except as a last resort, but I think the movie portrays just such an extremely intolerable condition.

If they had tried to ban it, it would have drawn more attention to it, and that would not be what the Government wanted. Tony Blair was riding high on the blood of murdered children, and there was a War on, WMD's were popping their invisible heads up like ghosts in the machine. But it's still one of the best films ever made here.
