That's the general idea I got from the four authority figures in the movie. Fortunately I was perhaps a little sedate when watching it but it was still genuinely disturbing from someone usually described as art-house. Italy seemed to regard Salo as obscene but Pasolini didn't live to face any possible legal troubles as he did before. A surprisingly quiet man.

If I had to rank the three you mentioned for disturbing, House By The Cemetary is the least distrubing while The Beyond is a close second to Suspiria. However for sick italian horror, I recommend any cannibal themed movie or Last House On The Left spinoff or something like Buio Omega.
