Saddam didn't hide weapons, the specific weapons that "The U.N" was sanctioning were expired chemical weapons that the U.S sold Iraq over 20 years ago, that was just a cheap political tool. The "intelligence" on the WMDs was a single report that was heavily contradicted by other sources.
The economy is not and was not laissez-faire, pure capitalism died in 1930 for good reason.

But another pro to it is it helps create a sense of national identity. We're more likely to identify ourselves today as "Americans" than "New Yorkers" or "Iowans" or whatever than however many years ago.
Well I have to agree with you on some parts of your statement I would really prefer state soverignty, also a consider myself a Texan as much as I consider myself an American. I mean I think states would have just as much trade if each state was soverign, I believe thats what the founding fathers had in mind. The storm was not his fault, the reaction to the storm was his fault. Saddam didn't hide weapons, the specific weapons that "The U.N" was sanctioning were expired chemical weapons that the U.S sold Iraq over 20 years ago, that was just a cheap political tool. The "intelligence" on the WMDs was a single report that was heavily contradicted by other sources.
The economy is not and was not laissez-faire, pure capitalism died in 1930 for good reason.

Saddam wasn't a crazy dictator , he was a very average dictator among dictators. We (America) were quite in love with him up till the gulf war. There was no reason to think there were WMDs, so proving there weren't is irrelevant. I don't know what you're talking about with the constitutional... unable to send help... he should have sent helicopters full of water to the Superdome people were dying of dehydration, all he had to do was send helicopters carrying crates of bottled water.

This video is pretty spot on. Bush DID say some good stuff and I supported him on his quite a few of his policies, but he and his completely incompetent administration couldn't carry out a plan to save their lives. It took them 6 years to figure out we needed MORE troops in Iraq to stabilize it? I wish Powell stayed longer to talk some sense into them instead of giving up on them. Oh well.

Yeah, it's easier for people to find one person to blame. Because when you blame one person it makes the problems seem less of a problem and manageable.
Also, basically presidents, Republican AND Democrat, have been loosening restrictions on wallstreet ever since restrictions have been put on in the first place. If you blame Bush, then blame every president before him since Truman. Same goes for expanding executive powers and for an even longer period. Problably since Thomas Jefferson.

The loss of state sovereignty is a double-edged sword. On the one hand if the overall economy in the US is doing well, then most states well do well because of the unified system. On the other hand when some states start to tank it might start to drag other states down with it.
But another pro to it is it helps create a sense of national identity. We're more likely to identify ourselves today as "Americans" than "New Yorkers" or "Iowans" or whatever than however many years ago.

Well I have to agree with you on some parts of your statement I would really prefer state soverignty, also a consider myself a Texan as much as I consider myself an American. I mean I think states would have just as much trade if each state was soverign, I believe thats what the founding fathers had in mind. I realize there has to be some form of central government to control taxing, military, and foreign relations (as I have already stated) but I believe wed be better off with states rights

Australia's stimulus spending has highlighted how effective it can be when done so appropriately, in no way is the problem solved... but a cure in the future is now possible, if credit sources can learn from these events. atm people spending money they don't have is a good thing, but once there is significant recovery spending will have to be FAR MORE CONTROLLED otherwise it will become the problem of Gen Z
