Wow! You are really just amazing. I am a singer from Montreal, and you are by far the best "musical theater" male singer I have heard recently. You are so moving and your phrasing is impeccable. Simply: wow!
I wanted to add to my earlier comment...you really deserve to have the "play-off" with the delay. I've been to one of the "Phantom" benefits in San Diego, and so I know what it is...I'm sure they weren't equipped with the delay equipment, etc. Still, it was such a wonderful rendition of the song - in this case, I think that "Floyd" deserved to go to "caver's heaven," as represented by the echos. Still, even without, it's magical!
jason. i began learning about - and singing - this peice because of this performance. i enjoy your subtle honesty and interpretation. very well done, man! we have a similar vocal range and tone. i'd love to see what else you've done! it'd be nice to talk more with you. youtube me! ha chat soon, jason. and thank you.
After not seeing this performance for a few months, I gotta tell you that I'm a few Kleenex away from making this a really good day. You absolutely nailed this song. You tapped into Guettel's genuis as well as that can occur. Bravo, Jason!
Part of phrasing is deciding when to take breaths, and in every song people take breaths in the middle of sentences...if you were to sing the song so that you would only take breaths when there was a new sentence, it would sound completely robotic. He never runs out of breath mid word and has to take one, so I don't exactly understand what you're talking about.
because if you are, you're working with my friend Andy who is playing Raoul right now!!! PLEASE tell him SHELLY from MODESTO said hello! and then, make out with yourself for me...
Thanks so much for your amazingly kind words. I'm in the Vegas company and only know a small few in the touring company. I hope to keep posting more and make sure to check out my album when it comes out later this year:) Thanks again!!!
ha ha! i'm sorry- i must have written that at like, 6 in the morning or something after being up for 20 days. i MEANT the vegas show! dur. andrew ragone is my friend : )
i just had to watch this again. you remind me of another friend (that andy also knows) jeremy stolle. one of the most incredible singers ever. you're just fantastic! <3

great voice, work on the phrasing of this one, some of the breaths are misplaced. try not to breathe in the middle of a sentence

This is one of the most perfect and passionate performances on Youtube (pro or am) and someone comments on "phrasing."
To quote the original Wicked Witch "What a world!"

I also don't know why some random person on YouTube is trying to critique a professional lol. (a.k.a. I agree with you Mallory)
