  • Daniel,s My Brother.

  • Love this song!! But who's is Daniel? Lol

  • How did he go that bald in 76 but in 2011 have a full head of hair? Prince William needs to call Elton

  • OK, There seems to be a slight misunderstanding with my comment.. I know he had surgery on his vocal chords.. I know he is still an amazing singer.. I was simply stating that he can't sing his songs as he originally intended them to be anymore, because he can't hit the high notes.. I freaking LOVE Elton John... Thank you for everyone that wasn't a dick about it.lol

  • energetic piano play and lovely voice great very great super great

  • i love how hes got a full head of hair now... but none there back in '76...bless ya elton

  • I FUCKING LOVE ELTON JOHN!!! <3

  • Uuuu muy buena rolitaaaa para relajar.

  • How great he is here, beautiful song!

  • My god....

This is the year i was born in my home town of Edinburgh.

Elton John and Edinburgh are two of Britains national treasures!

  • beautiful piano solo

  • Now THIS is music! Not much talent like this nowadays.

  • That's some great piano playing. I'd love to have that kind of talent. I love Elton and was lucky enough to see him live when he came to my town. What a great show; what a great performer.

  • He can't hit those high notes like he used to... Sad..

  • @P2000Camaro he has a nice raspy strong quality nowa days, still soothing to my ears :P but yeah defnitly back in the seventies Elton's voice <3

  • @P2000Camaro yeah he had throat surgery which altered the sound of his voice.

  • @P2000Camaro No one could beat his voice in his prime.

  • @P2000Camaro not sad, the man's in his 60's for chrissakes, whats the matter with you?

  • @P2000Camaro wow, maybe thats cos hes like 65 now.... what a silly comment. i saw him last night and he was great.

  • @P2000Camaro

he had surgery on his vocal chords.

  • @P2000Camaro he has a completely horrid voice these past 15+ years. i was really saddened by "i'm still standing" and pretty much everything since.

  • My God! He's got more hair on his head now than he did then; I wonder if he goes to Hair Club for Men these days. At any rate, nice tune.

  • buen cantante

  • I've followed Elton since 1970....these years were when he was at this best...hair or no hair...he put out some fantastic music...only Billy Joel could match the quality....

  • Seems like as each year went by EJ's singing voice got more and more lower even before he had throat surgery.Anyone know why?

  • this is great! this is great!

  • one word, perfect, thats it, there's no more no less that can be added

  • is it just me or did he seem taller in those days?

  • @Lightner445555555555 probably lol he is a bit chunky now, and older

  • @Lightner445555555555 probably the platforms

  • @Lightner445555555555 - I know what you mean. Elton looks a lot taller at the end of this video when he stands up and walks around. He looks like someone who could kick some ass. :o)

  • @Lightner445555555555 Taller and had less hair when he was younger. lol

  • @Lightner445555555555 its because he were thin :)

  • this song makes me cry.

  • Elton is the Man, or the Woman ;)

  • im gonna go see elton this year

all my friends r like why the hell are u wasting money on this

but im all like whos really wasting money? bieber, gaga and rinhanna are crap!

  • vitu hyvä

  • this 1000x better, just his voice and the piano.

  • WE ARE KINGDOM AGAINST KINGDOM AT THIS TIME- (SEE MATTHEW 24 & 25) TODAY IS DAY 164 OF THE 1290 DAYS OF DANIEL 12:11, DAY 134 OF THE 1260 DAYS OF EMMANUEL IS WITH US AS THE FIRST WITNESS OF REV11:3, AND DAY 134 OF THE 1335 DAYS OF DANIEL 12:12

  • Possibly the greatest musician of all time.

  • 148,000 views. 147,000 of them are mine. I never get tired of this video of the greatest performer/composer that I've ever seen.

  • @chrispmis me either :) This song can be about anyone will miss, i love the melody and Bernie's lyrics. These songs are so touching and emotional. This performance esepcially that little brigde part in the middle really adds a new sound to daniel. i love his solo piano concertss

  • @godwhyisthistaken Have you ever noticed that this song could as well be called "Danielle"?

  • What an amazing talent Mr. Elton John has. I love his music.

  • who are the 4 that dissed this? hmmm LoveUGodBless T and J KABBALAH MATTHEWSHEPARD MADONNALICIOUS

  • also, he's super high on cocaine.

  • Not yet. He only started going on stage stoned during the 80s (his own words). All the classic era live stuff (early/mid 70s-had a sober Elton on stage).

  • His singing is so fluid and he always puts just the right amount of emphasis on each note. He's not just a guy singing catchy songs, he is a REALLY good singer.

  • He's also an underrated singer!

  • I was named after this song! It soothes me whenever I hear it.

  • That piano riff starting at 1:53 is so freakin cool. To be able to play like that on the fly with no rehearsal is so amazing. I'd love to have one tenth of this man's talent. PS: I got to see Elton one time; it was just him and a piano and he played for over 2 1/2 hours. He's the man.

  • Elton is the perfect example of an artist with both style and substance. I really like how this is solo piano and vocal. It really highlights his musical skills and how talented he is without his band!

  • i love elton john

  • This song, Daniel, always reminded me of my brother, Daniel, who was killed in a traffic accident fifty years ago.

Not long ago, without any warning, I met the man who killed my brother after all these years and not long after that, the song Daniel played on the radio.

  • bald or not Elton sings so beautifully.

  • The should have gotten Elton to judge American Idol. He's probably too busy touring but he may have been able to squeeze it in. It would be nice to have a real recording artist as a judge. I don't think Steven Tyler is what the show needs.

  • amazing, just a voice and a piano

  • I first heard this song in 1977 when I was in the Navy heading toward the Med. Sea, it made me think of my own situation, alone across the great blue and not knowing what was in store for me. I just turned 18 and it was a tune that I have never forgotten.

  • sucks that you don't see anyone who can produce such skilled vocals (in terms of pitch and intonation) in a live performance in my generation.............everyone seems to sound off-key live now outside of the studio.......except for few

  • Listen to that piano work starting at 1:53. It doesn't get any better than that. Simply beautiful.

  • This man has inspired me to play piano(: <3

  • this song makes me cry its so damn good just perfect thumbs up if your name is daniel

  • How did Elton just lose all his hair in 3 years? Or was he wearing a wig before?

  • @chapaev36 you just lose it lol no he wasnt

  • @godwhyisthistaken So he started balding in his late 20s but somehow now in his 60s he's got a full head of hair again?

    Great performance by the way.

  • @GermanOperaSinger Hair transplant surgery, you know how much hair means to a gal.

  • Elton actually claimed in interviews that he lost most of his hair in literally minutes due to getting bad dye at some point in the '70s. Though he was clearly thinning from early on, it does seem pretty dramatic here, so maybe it was partially true.

  • @godwhyisthistaken Is he wearing a wig nowadays? coz his hair looks real.

  • @santanaincubus He's had a hair transplant!

  • @mistofoles Oh shoot. Thanks for the info.

  • Thanks Lisa in Seattle! I love it!

  • @chapaev36 Gay sex makes your hair fall out hahaha

    PS love this song....

  • i love most of eltons stuff. but to say he was better than the beatles is just ignorant. im speaking of his entire career, the later stuff sucked

  • True music. Vocals and piano. A great example of the talent he had/has. Bernies lyrics are incredible!

  • Who the frig would give this a thumbs down?!! It's a perfect song by an amazing performer. Period.

  • My Son Name Is Daniel!!!!!! I Luv This Song!!!

  • and lord I miss Daniel, oh I miss him so much...... missing my nephew Daniel who died aged 9 years, 10 months and 15 days on 5th November 2006. Daniel your a star in my sky..........x

  • genial!

  • Listen to that laugh 0:12 he truly loved his music

  • The greatest ballad composer! Elton's new album The Union, with Leon Russell, is a classic

  • @mizofan The 19th :)

  • @mizofan i'm goin to see him live in concert for the very first time next Summer..............in Northampton!!!! :O can't wait!! woo hoo........why would he do a live gig in Northampton, at the cricket ground of all places!!! but hey who gives a sh*&t i will be there lol xxx

  • @sweetscotsbabe I'm thinking maybe he's going to tour less famous places, cos he's also doing a concert at Shrewsbury. Have a great time!

  • I was named after this song. Now that I know the meaning, I love it even more. 70's Elton, is the best!

  • he's going bald here yet now he has a full head of hair...

  • This video has 84,544 views and I'll bet that I'm responsible for 40,000 of them. I could watch this video all day; it's Elton John at his best. At his worst he's STILL better than 99.99% of today's so-called "artists". I can't think of one current person or band who's songs will be listened to 20 years from now. Who wants to tell their children that their favorite song in high school was "Slap Da Bitch Upside Da Head"?

  • love Elton John? Follow EltonJohnLyrics on Twitter :)

  • my sons called daniel always sang this song 2 him when he was a child infact i sing it 2 him now and hes 23:)of course i changed it a little 2 daniel my son.lol.awesome song.xx

  • Listen to and watch that piano sequence that starts at 1:55. I'd love to have that kind of talent; it's simply amazing to watch.

  • muito bom,esse cara é demais

  • sign this dude , now!

  • he wouldnt look to bad today if he didnt get that hair transplant surgery. granted the $60,000 it costed him is a fraction of a penny to him.

  • Comment removed

  • This shows just how brilliant this man is just him a piano uterrly breathtaking you dont get that with the crap manufactured artists these days

  • you're a star!!!

  • must be the clouds in my eyes.................

  • @MatthewPalmer1992 love it too... plus the you're a star in a high pitch tone..

  • One of the most amazing songs ever created.

  • Listen to that piano work starting at 1:54. How one man can generate such a great sound is amazing to me. No sythesizers. No back up singers. Just a true genius doing it solo.

  • @chrispmis

yes dude he is true great and a genius artist!

  • Thank god for You Tube, I've waited 34 years to see this concert!!! Bless all of you who are putting these clips up of this show. Back then it was one the first video discs, when it was new and experimental. Those big 12 inch disc in the sleeve that you slide in the player.

  • This is one of "the" most beautiful songs. Bernie wrote many more verses to this song but it made the song too long, thus it had to be cut. It literally brought tears to my eyes tonight. I think of all of those who didn't return from Viet Nam and other wars and it was a song for them. Elton, even when on drugs was so brilliant at what he did and he still is. He's an incredible human being and we are lucky to have him on this Earth.

  • @JenR1 AMEN :) I wish I knew what the missing verses were!

  • @godwhyisthistaken There are no "extra verses" THIS is the song, and if there are, they are meaningless

  • excellent

  • His voice and youthful charisma here gives me fucking chills

  • my brothers name is daniel

  • i love this song. its one of the the onley songs that make my shed a tear. i have a brothe and i could never bear to see him go...

  • Love this one...I dedicate it to my brother, Dan.

  • what an amazing musician!!!

  • How Amazing 30+ years later and still a beautiful song.

  • Fantastic video. Thank you for sharing. Anyone who underappreciates this man's talent has got to be a totally lost individual. I feel so bad for those people. They don't know what they're missing. Elton is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time. I'll stack his work up against Lennon and McCartney any day. See him live when you can.

  • não é memso!!!

  • Amazing<3

  • glasses fail

  • elton john - amazing! love this tune

  • Excellent, a very worthy superstar!

  • 70's & 80's ...always the best music ever!

  • @virandan

    60's too.

  • He was bald!!

    And that ugly glasses !!!!!!

  • so what? Are you saying hairstyle and what you wear determine a person's worth? You can't just judge someone for what they look like! Elton is awesome to me no matter what:)

  • Hes is a perfect singer ...no matter with his clothes glasses...

  • Agreed as well. Choosing a favorite album is hard as well. Madman Across the water is one of my top. tumble weed connections and his self titled are tied

  • No offense but how on earth could anyone have a "favorite" elton john song? I find choosing one to be absolutely impossible!

  • Agreed!

  • The Greatest Melody Writer Ever In Popular Music

  • Is this concert available on DVD......This the best Elton Concert ever.

  • I so agree that this is the best Elton John concert ever. Showcases what this incredibly talented guy is all about. Only the solo shows with Ray Cooper three years later come close in their appeal.

  • This is just before he started growing hair.

  • yes, it is the best performance

  • in his day man he was worthy of beatles status

  • The beatles were amazing, but i get bored of them. i never tire of elton john. he's one of the best.

  • @solian3 yeah, i think Elton John, for many, was under-estimated for his great voice and lovely piano skills

  • @solian3 more like the beatles were somewhat close to being worthy of elton's status.

  • @daviddet

    Ahaha, too far mate.

  • @solian3 He was much better than mediocare Beatles.

  • @Mlajen It's not a competition there buddy. If your opinion is that he is better than the Beatles, than so be it. But don't bring it up and start a stupid fued.

  • The Edinburgh, Scotland 1976 show is one of my all-time favorite Elton performances.

  • :-)))))))))))))))))))

  • my theme song...period

  • man i love this video...

  • its scotland not scaoutland

  • after 11,500 plus hits your the first to notice :D thanks for the heads up.

  • wow, I love this rendition best..he knocks it out of the park! God bless Sir Elton for all the songs he sings that speak to my soul.

  • I love this video lol dude 10,000 hits this is a win for Elton :P

  • This kid has potential.

  • i agree. if he continues, something might come of it.

  • Nah, man, he'll never make it. Nobody digs the "colorful clothes with glasses" look. I give him a year, tops.

  • @gmaccruyff5 i think so

  • Amazing video

I think this might just be my favorite song of his

  • cool i personally love Elton's whole music catalog :D

  • nice glasses

  • This is one of his best concerts ever.

  • this should definitely be on DVD, there is a solo concert out already but not during the good old days, amazing performance

  • By far the best performance of that song ever.

  • It's a disgrace that this goldmine of a solo concert is not officially on dvd.

  • this is a truly fantastic song 5*,love and respect scotty and libby:0)

  • A great solo concert when he was at his vocal peak IMO. Such an amazing range in his voice.

  • Man he looks so goofy but he has an amazing voice. Elton John is amazing!

  • I am amazed that it has such a good quality.

And by his performance of course, but this is rare. xD

  • Wow, the vids from this Edinburgh concert of amazing! I hope someone someday uploads all of them!!! If this concert was put on DVD, it would be a gold mine!

  • the best elton john's voice ever in a concert

  • Thanks for the post Addy.

I love this performance of Daniel.

The Edinburgh show is one my all time favorite Elton concerts!

My sister and I watched this concert live on TV back in 1976.

I seem to remember that it it was broadcast on ABC over here.

  • Wow, he's only 29 here? Looks like he's in his 40s. Love the performance, though. 1970s Elton John is unbeatable.
