Damn, I love that bass and all the instruments that break out into a chaotic fever! I think this song is about how fear can bring people together and yet, through this fear, chaos erupts and confusion and desperation hangs in the air. A nation controlled by fear; the perfect national anthem. :)

ahhhhh, since ive read the inspiration for this (i think the novel anthem) its changed my view on the lyrics! it is a great song: the bassline is so sexy and rough sounding and the drums have an amazing beat to it- not to mention eds lovely LA LA LAs at 1:57 ! plus at the end everything just goes insane... All bass players should thank Radiohead to make songs for them. The drums are so awesome, and the guitar background is beautiful. The voice is psychedilic. The saxophon and stuff makes musical genre meet, and the effects of Johnny Greenwood completly makes me feel in an other world. And one guy still dislikes that.
