A good game is not about the graphics at all, i think we agree on that. But be careful you don't do it the other way around and judge newer games as " just better graphics " :P But there is a crazy hype over graphics, more so than game quality, more often than we would like.. and that's a shame.. There are crappy games today, yes.. but there are also just soooo many developers.

Doom is a true classic, that can't be neglegted. A holy relic of gaming ;) We must all worship this piece of gaming art

I like modern squad shooters(like SWAT or Brothers in Arms), but modern FPS games try to make a game where you shoot everything that moves, killing at least 5000 enemies by yourself, and then they put that gameplay into real-world wars and try to be "realistic".if you're going to make a game about shooting everything that moves, focus on the gameplay.I know that an average soldier can take 3-4 bullets before he dies, but where's the fun in that?it's unrealistic anyway, so why not go all the way

@Airmaner1 It sounds to me like your friends are the same numbnuts of the "Halo" and "Call of Duty" generation and wouldn't know a great shooter if it hit them in the face. I'm sure they're so used to being led by the hand from one room to the next, cutscene after cutscene, tossing them into spooky, non-linear corridors is probably too much for their feeble minds to handle. Who knows, maybe they're better off sticking to sissy shooters. Just be glad you can see Doom for what it really is.

Originally, BFG was Billion Fireballs Gun in the alpha. Since the mechanics were changed, it was called Big Fucking Gun.

Bio Force Gun is only in the movie and not very consistent with the gun mechanics in the game.

The only one I like (aside from Big Fucking Gun) is someone's excellent "Blast Field Gun" which captures the actual workings of the gun in the game quite well.

well, what they did when they made the soundtrack was, they gave the sound guy (bobby prince) a CD with lots of metal songs and went like "make it something like this". bobby then copied some bits of songs and added stuff and.. stuff... so all the songs have bits that are allot like songs from metal bands, so that explains why you recognise that song (master of puppets) in this song
