  • Eva!

  • I Spy Eva from Wall-E in the backround!

  • I spy with my little eye.... Mr.FISHY FISH!

  • Where do u buy easy cast resin stuffs?

  • @natalie21stone Craft stores. If not, then online from the Easy Cast website.

  • @natalie21stone dick blick works too

  • Assuming I could find those paint palettes with round center wells, could I use those instead and do the full iris/pupil and white part of the eye? Just curious cause I haven't tried it yet and Im still thinking about how I want to go about doing my cosplay.

  • Cool and thanks; I just made some right now. :3

  • One question, can you see through the resin eyes, and if not, how do you see through a fursuit mask with them in?

Thanks for the tutorial, planning to make a fursuit soon :3

  • @LiaraChan

I'm just gonna answer this :] no, you cannot see through resin eyes. I mean, usually the backs are painted over, and even if you didn't paint them the vision is highly distorted. You see through the tear ducts of the eyes which is usually made out of a mesh or a really thin fabric :)

  • hi there im trying to find the Easycast resin to make ayes my self , i did find a site caled etsy.com cus i live in sweden and the material has another name here it seems. But is it on this webbsite i also can fint thos you use and the release agent1000 ?

would be so happy if you culs find a website for me to order the easycast resin/ hardener and releaser menny thanks Nienna87 on Furaffinity

  • @BlackSabertoothTiger The release spray I got from my local plastic store, so I don't think to can order anywhere. As far as Easy Cast goes, just try googling it and see if a home product website comes up.

  • @Hyokenseisou okey thanks :) ill keep looking then .. iik sometimes i wish we is sweeden kan keep the same names on things and stuff when you creating furrsuits or other things. tho im swedish im to use to english so i forget some of the swedish names on things too lol..

oh well have a nice day and like to see more totorials or what you have done :) take care and hope we can talk more some day too

  • When I bought my 1:1 kit, the hardener was yellow...Even when I cast them, my eyes were tinted yellow. I brought it back to the store and got my money back...But I'm still stuck. I'm guessing it's not supposed to be yellow..

There was also this other kind of resin that you needed to add a hardening catalyst too, but I'm guess that's a different mixing ratio all together?

  • @chibiv THIS kit was clear, both resin and hardener. There's many different kinds of resin mixes and kits out there, all with different ratios and whatnot; like 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, etc. Just look for a kit that you think you could work with and will be easy for you and will cure clear.

  • @Hyokenseisou I see, thanks! Turns out after doing some research that the hardener was yellow because it was old, and probably sitting on the shelf for a long time 9I bought the exact same package and brand you had demonstrated) but alas, I went to another store and found some fresh stuff, both bottles completely clear.

Thank you for the awesome tutorial, btw!

  • Is that Evaaa in the back?

  • *points at fish* Fishyyy... *stares at he fish he whole time*

  • Do you see with the eye on your costume or do you have a hole on your fursuit mouth? :O

  • @MetaPredator you actually see through the tearducts, using chiffon or metal mesh :) but with the toony eyes you can see through them.

  • lol.. look at the fishy in the back.. lol its a beta.. nice vid btw

  • Awsome tutorial! this will help me loads

  • Very helpful! Didn't realize it was so easy to make great looking eyes! How much does the resin+hardener+spray cost together, approximately? Also, i love the stirring music xD

  • @SindiFur A pack of 1:1 resin (and hardener) kit is about $20 bucks. I don't remember how much the spray was as I got it a long time ago. I wanna say like 15-30 bucks or something? Because it's silicone based and like the super fancy expensive stuff.

  • I used canola Oil cooking spray 'cause I didn't get release agent,I have the same painting pallette for a mold, and was wondering if my cooking spray would work to help keep my resin from sticking to my pallete. D:

  • could you try to make a mold making tutorial somewhere down the line please? it would help me out a lot lol ty.

  • I cant get resin in Norway, can you plz send me some clear resin eyes so I can paint them my self plz

  • Wow, this looks really easy. I thought it was a lot harder than what it seems to be. Thanks for uploading!

  • if i didnt use a release spray, will it just be stuck on the mold forever? lol

  • @reika59 Depending on the mold, you won't always need a release. But it is a good idea to pick some up and use it.

  • @Hyokenseisou so wait what if your useing a paint pallat and dont have any relese agent??? cant you use pam or shorting??? plz anser asap cause all i have left i sthe eyes and this weekend is when it needs to be done☺

  • @scorgeluver323 Pam might work, just go light on it (light spray then give it a light wipe down with a cloth or something). For the most part, if you're mixing it right, a small enough cast should come out without an release agent no problem.

  • eva

  • And the release agent. Sorry. ^^;

  • Where do you get your easy cast?

  • Mine became cloudy after it cured what did I do wrong? o.o

  • @Makubestu Either too many bubbles, it got contaminated, or the mold was not adequate. Just try again.

  • @Hyokenseisou

I tried again and this time it was too bubly =( I heated the resin and stirred slowly as recommended and still very bubbly I even passed a flame over it to get ride of some of the bubbles but theirs still a lot... Any suggestions?

  • @Makubestu What are you using it to mix with? Certain shapes will creation drag behind them, dragging in air from above causing bubbles. Try using a thin popsicle stick or something, and mix slowly. Resin doesn't set really quick, so you have hours even, to mix it. But mixing at a decent careful speed will take about two minutes. If when you pour it, you still get very little air bubbles, leave it for about an hour or so, they will rise a bit, then just use the stick to lightly mix the top again

  • @Hyokenseisou

I'm mixing it in paper cups with Popsicle sticks. Maybe I'm just not lucky? Or am unconsciously mixing faster than I should O.o

  • @Makubestu

Paper cups have a wax coating on the them, and the wax is getting mixed in with the resin which is causing it to be cloudy.

Try some type of plastic cup or container without a wax coating. :)

  • hey my name is ashlee to

  • Ah! You should use the three cup method! Pour equal resin and hardener in two separate cups then pour together and use a larger cup (plastic cups no wax). You must stir vigorously for 2 miinutes. Let it get bubbles no biggie them come out.

  • Thank you so soooo much for making this video, I wont to make resin eyes for my fursuit and this is just what I have been looking for! :D

  • what is the spray you used?;;

  • @iRawrZ3R0 I used Silicon Spray 2000

  • Did you say 15 mL or 50 mL??

  • @UltimateExplodingHam 15mL of each material.

  • @Hyokenseisou Okay, just making sure. I made some and they look great!! I should have stirred a teeny bit slower. I have tiny air bubbles.

Heh, still looks good. Thanks for the video!! ^^

  • I am really confused on how you would paint it. Would you use acrylic paint? And I don't know how to paint eyes. >w<;

  • Thx much snowfox!!!!

I am building a fursuit head

And I am starting tomorrow!!!!! I can't wait!!!!!

I will put up a vid when I learn how to!!!!

  • Follow up to my previous post about Amazing Mold Putty: Silicon molds make the surface less than perfectly smooth, which makes it cloudy. But applying a layer of sealant makes them shiny again. I cast some 10mm eyes (tiny!) and they're quite nice with Deco-Art Triple Thick gloss glaze. What kind of stuff do you use to glue them together? The Deco-Art stuff kind of shrinks.

  • Just so others can learn from my mistake, Easy Cast seems to react badly with Amazing Mold Putty. My casts turned cloudy. It's not a bad resin batch either, the leftover in the cup and another experiment from the same batch are fine. (I'm not using the paint palettes because I need teeny eyes, for my puppets.)

  • Ok

U have been a huge help!!!!!

I just have two more questions

Do u do the eyes first before the foaming so it is ready????

And also how do you glue the eye onto the foam base??? If u could, could u make a tutorial 4 that

    Thx a lot

  • Could I put it in the micro wave 4 like 10 min or do u think that won't work????

  • @ligerhybrid No, do not do that. Putting it in the microwave will melt things and I'm sure any chemical odors it gives off is toxic. Just let it sit on your desk over night or something and it should be done mid day next day.

  • @ligerhybrid You can't microwave any kind of resin that I'm aware of, but I read you can put it under a heat lamp for a little while. Over all though, I've read it's best to just let the chemicals do their thing. They're designed to take X amount of time for a reason.

  • Thx much

But how long do u set it to rest???? On the instructions 4 mine it says 78 hours but I got easy care as well

  • @ligerhybrid My casts at a standard room temperature take about 24 hours. The colder the room temp, the slower it'll take. But the warmer it is, the faster it'll cure as it's a heat chemical reaction.

  • Hiya

    Thx 4 the vid

Ok did u say that it would dry in a day?? Or more

And also I don't want to waste the liquid so do u know how much millimeters it would be 4 just four eyes????

    Thx again

  • @ligerhybrid For these size eyes, about a little less than 30 mL total (15 per). 30 mL will do 4 and 3/4. A good way to measure exactly, fill the mold up with water, then pour it into a measuring cup or whatever you'll be doing the mixing in, then just divide that in half, for each material.

  • I'm going to try casting eyes soon, so I'm really grateful for this tutorial! A long time ago I played with Castn' Craft resin that someone else mentioned, it cured sticky and melted the plastic cup I mixed it in! It also isn't a 1:1 ratio mix so that makes it tougher. I'm going to use the Easy Cast stuff this time.

Does the cast need air circulation? I have pets and if I could stick the mold in a big plastic bag it would stay clean. Just wondering if you've tried something like that. 8D

  • @SnowFox102 I have lots of pets in the house, along with working with fur. So shit's always in the air flying around that could get stuck on the resin as it cures. What I just do, is pick a level spot on a desk or on top of a book case, have the resin sit there as it cures, and make a 'tent' with just some paper so that dust or hair doesn't get in it. I just fold a piece of paper in half and make a sort of then, then yeah.

  • @Hyokenseisou Thanks! I thought of doing something like that, but it's summer and the cats are shedding, and I have fans going all the time, so it kind of worried me. XD I think I'll make a tent with aluminum foil, that way it'll sit closer to the mold.

  • Yay!! Just the videos I need!! :D

Thanks so much for posting this!!

Is that a beta fish at the back)??

  • @UltimateExplodingHam Yeah that's my beta, Hail. He's a pretty deep red with a bit of white on his forehead.

  • @Hyokenseisou Cool!! I used to have a beta fish(now deceased T~T) when I was younger. My sis had one too, but when we put the tanks near each other, they would try to kill each other!!

  • I think I may have to switch to Easy Cast.... the stuff I'm using, no matter how hard it is, the moment I touch it to do anything with it, it gets fingerprints, and it sticks to everything even if it's not sticky (they stick to my desk, each other, paper, me.... it's obnoxious).

I appreciate the video! Because it has been a pain with this Castin'Craft Clear stuff... I've lost every pair I've made, and I'm trying to have this done for RMFC :/

    Anyway, thanks again!

  • @Keldorik If you're still getting finger prints, that means it didn't cure, which means you didn't pore the right amount of things.

    And you're welcome. :)

  • @Hyokenseisou

Might be where I live too, the humidty's been really whacked out lately, so that could be it too. Because I followed the instructions exactly. But thanks for replying!

  • Amazing video, thank you so much. I never realized it was that easy. I have mine sitting in the mold right now and I just have a question. How do you get them out of the paint pallet?

  • @natoshipaw Just like getting ice cubes out of the tray, you bend/flex the tray a bit. If you did everything right, they should just pop out as easy as ice cubes.

  • woot! betta! thanks for the awesome tut :)

    <3 Anamaere

  • This is an awesome tutorial, thank you for making and sharing it with us!

I have a couple of questions which I hope you won't mind answering: Why don't you like to use the mold release agent that comes with the EasyCast resin? Are there other brands of mold release agents you would recommend (Synlube 1000 is not available in my country, so I'm looking for a substitute).

    Thanks again, you're awesome!

  • @tarangryph It's a personal preference thing.I like Synlube better because it's an aerosol. The release that comes with the Easy Cast is a spray. I find that any aerosol spray obviously coats thing more evenly. If you can find any silicone based release spray, that'll work good too.

  • Thanks so much for the awesome tutorial!! <3

  • What else can you use for the release agent? We just had a big snowstorm and I can't get to the store e_e

  • I heard just a little bit pf Pam or veggy spray oil works. Though if you're casting something small like these size eyes shown, then you'll be fine without a release spray.

  • Ok thanks! ^_^

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Any suggestion on how to make 3 mm doll eyes using your same method, what would I use as a mold? Thanks in advance for your answer.

  • Something that small you'd probably have to make a custom mold. Could just find something that small and round and cast a mold out of latex.

  • I see amaterasu in the bg hehe at 9:03

  • I think that's really clever using a paint pallete for a mold. I've got to check out this Michael's Craft Store

  • okay i forgot to say this in my previous comment. Can you get everything you showed in the vid at micheals or any crafts store? oh and also do you paint the back of the resin part when it's dry? is there any kind of paint you cant use? thnx

  • Yup, that's actually where I got all my things from, Micheal's Craft Store.

I just use normal acrylic paint, yes when it's dry.

  • hehe i saw your fursuit head... thank you for the vid there is nothing like it 5/5

  • AHHHH!

The song in this video. :DDD

We sang this at one of my band camps. After hearing the words, I had a face like "8D" Ahahaha. :D This excites me.

  • You sang the song from Sid Meyer's Civilization Medley composed for VGL at Band camp? Shit, can I enroll in your band?

  • Yep yep we sure did. :D

    And sadly, the camp is only for 10th graders and under, so I've outgrown it and didn't get to go this past summer. ;-;

  • nice ps3 in the background XD

  • thats so funny i had that resin tutorial and now ur making one ^_^ yours is better

  • lololol I only did it cause I got a pm from a friend who was having troubles with it just the other day. (and I was thinking "Oh man she JUST missed your live tut!!")

  • There is a Fish in the Background. Left side ... I watched him with one Eye ... that fish is creepy :P

  • Yeah, that was Hail

  • @Hyokenseisou

Wait ... your fish is called Hail ?! Oh wait ... I'm thinking of "Hale" like Nathan Hale.

I was more focused on the Fish than on your Tutorial. Sorry, I'm watching it again :)

  • so that's why you started a spare one :P

  • lololo yup, apparently

  • Wow. I didn't know it was that easy, but like a huge science cobobbles like thingy. Kind of like cooking, except with the whole edible part.

  • Yeah, youtube is being extremely suckish lately.

    I can't watch it. D:

  • It's cause you're probably watching it as it was processing. It works just fine now.

  • :[ It says there's an error

  • It's cause you're probably watching it as it was processing. It works just fine now.

  • Yep. It's working now. (:
