Your a poor guy, no house no money because off some unlucky events beyond your control and you get diabetes or something how would you like it if 10 of us provided treatment for you for free? I think you would thank me, and that's what i'm talking about
If Obama's health care bill is really to the people's advantage then why have the insurance companies stock gone up since he past the bills? What he basicly did was force people who couldn't afford health care to get it forcing them to spend even more money... Greetings from Europe, and ps: You can come check the health care in my country Belgium. I pay 16.50€ every 3 months, i pay around 2€ for the same medication you get and i pay 2.50€ for a docters visit
@kim8040 No I think most people judge the success of a healthcare system on the morbidity and mortality rates within a country and the healthcare systems influence on those rates. The US has the highest infant mortality rate in the western world, thousands of people die NEEDLESSLY each year just because they do not have enough money...somehow I would not call that successful. The USA has a lower life expectancy that many countries such as France and there is a good reason for that!
Obama Care will allow government to choose who gets health care ! God Bless him ! but, lets blame republicans ! why? because theyre white men ! if we castrated all niggers, spics, and other inferiors, then maybe the world can be saved...

@kim8040 The World Health Organisation has Britain at number 17 in the world in healthcare systems and the US is 37. Also Britains oral hygiene is among the best in the world, and a study by the oecd proved that Britain has the lowest rate of tooth decay in the world-some of the best teeth. It's a totally false stereotype. Also, no one goes bankrupt or dies in the UK because they can't afford healthcare.
@rorymcnult USA has better health care per se than the others do, but some people rank how successful a system is merely by how socialist it is. That's circular logic, like saying "socialism is successful because it's socialist"

That is true, I pay for my insurance and have to worry about co-pays for doctor visits and prescriptions. I work for a company that provides some form of government insurance to the uninsured, I would gladly lose my job to see families take care of. I'm young I could start over again with school and financial aid.
I can't believe what I'm seeing. I thought the US had good healthcare, comes to something when a 3rd world charity has to set up shop in a 1st world country. I suppose it makes sense when you think about it: a corporations first priority will always be profit...
My mother always said "Nothing in life is Free... there's a catch to everything."
Quality of health care will go down over the broad spectrum, if the government gives it away. Taxes will be outrageous to pay for it! In actuality, a free national health care will be more expensive for all, poor and rich alike. Plus higher restrictions on meds, longer wait lines just to see your family doctor, and forget it if you need a transplant or surgery as the lists and wait lines will be far increased. :(
But what if we do have national health care? Did you know that the UK does and PAP smears are only done for women over 25 yro and only once every three years. Think about that, as an english woman died at 20 of cervical cancer because her national free health care wouldn't let her ge a PAP even though cervical cancer runs in her family. Think about that... free health care isn't really the answer, better jobs and knowing how to use insurance is!
That's not true. When I lived there, women had yearly pap smears. I should know because I had HPV and had to learn their health care system inside and out. Please do not spread misinformation because it can be dangerous.
Yes yearly PAPs after the age of 25, but before they do not...

If while looking for a job you can't find one that pays as much as you have been making, you take it. Pay your bills and buy your own health care. If you won't work for another company for lower till till something else breaks then yes you now fall under the lazy list of Americans.
If I'm layed off tomorrow. I'll have somekind of work before the weekend.
Then that's another problem with some people today.
sure I would have my health insurance. I have up to 800 working hours before it's dropped. Then from that point as long as I am sending in payment. It don't matter what compay I work for. Just as long as the get their payments.
"Why should my taxes pay for health coverage for my lazy, good-for-nothing neighbors? To this I would ask, "Why should MY taxes pay for YOUR police and fire protection?" Yes, those two nasty socialist entities - the Police and Fire Departments. Why? Because we live in something called a "Society". And because we are all our brothers' keepers.
4. And finally, every negative thing you say re Canadian and European health care is propaganda BS. Quit watching Fox. Heal your cold and selfish heart.
ANGLEBOOT: Your arguments against universal single-payer health care are as asinine as they are predictable.
1. the "British Broadcasting Company way of pushing European style socialism in America." Why would they do this? What would they have to gain? Or is it a great world-wide "Socialist Conspiracy?"
2. Lose your job, and guess what? Because of your wife's cardiac history you won't be able to buy insurance AT ANY PRICE.
The American system is basically a new form of eugenics. If you can't afford health care or you have a pre-existing condition, you won't be able to get health care without going bankrupt. People can die of an infection caused by a toothache, or their whole family may go without health care because one member has a health problem. As long as people think the capitalist/freemarket way of doing things is always the best it will persist. Ask your politicians if they support eugenics...
What it is though, is British Broadcasting Company way of pushing European style socialism in America.
They are forced into pay higher taxs than Americans and say the are getting free health care. when in fact it cost them 45% of their pay. Are you Americans willing to be taxed even more to a socialized heath care system. Higher taxs with less chances of even seeing a doctor.
Rubbish. Americans pay more money than people in any other country for healthcare. Private healthcare is MORE expensive than universal healthcare. Don't you get that? In Australia, Medicare costs vary depending on your income, up to $1500/year. That includes ALL your dependents. Average family in the USA pays $12k in health care premiums. -- Universal Healthcare is CHEAPER, why can't you right wingers understand that?
$12K a year. There's the problem. I have one of the highest costing health care plans and I only pay alittle over $8000.
mine covers much more than the universal healthcare plan in Canada.
1 friend in Canada had bad back problems. They cover him for about a year, after that they told him basically he was on his own. They would no longer cover him. They felt he should be all better now. When his doctors were saying he needed back surgery, the state run health care said he didn't.
You big jerk. In today's economic times, how insensitive of you to go online and brag that yours is "highest costing health care plan" and it's "only a little over $8000." Why don't you use that insurance to get a heart or a brain replacement. Disgusting.

Well jeffrey, I take it you're one of the millions of lazy Americans people atre always talking about. Aways want people to do for you. First you want me to help pay for health care. Now you want me to post links that you can get in less than 5 minutes.
NOW THAT ISN'T LAZY, THAT'S DAMN LAZY!!!!
Move to Europe if you want to free load off the country.
Yah, I thought you were pulling figure out of your John Brown nether parts.
I don't want you to pay for my health care. In fact I own a medical clinic in Minnesota. I do well for myself thank you. My problems with private insurance companies comes from long hard experience with them.
Fact - private insurance companies have an average of 27% administrative overhead whereas the most expensive single payer system is at 7%. It is simple economics to go with a more efficient system.
When your job finally falls victim to corporate layoffs, ANGLEBOOT, I guess you'll become just another "lazy American". With your disdain for all things "socialist", I assume you refuse to accept government police and fire protection. And you pay for your own road repairs, right? And surely, when you turn 65, you would NEVER stoop to accepting Social Security or Medicare benefits. You're just another selfish hypocrite screaming, "I've got mine, so screw you!" Call yourself a Christian, do you?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
My city tax the pays for the police and fire protection is just for that, my city. Not everyone across the nation.
It also does pay for free college, welfare. That is already a program in place. The country doen't need another 2 or 3 programs that do the same thing.
What I am for is, if you want to go to collge, that's fine.t you pay for it. If you want health care, you apy for it. It's not the job of the country to pay for want but not willing to work for. If layed off go find another job.
Your rebuttal is woefully incomplete, and what you did write makes no sense. Look, we get it already: You are a shallow, selfish, pathetic excuse for a human being. An insecure, bitter, frightened, xenophobic Yahoo. A hypocrite who measures the worth of others by the size of their bankbooks. What we don't understand is why you would boast about possessing such a shriveled soul. The only purpose you have in this world is to serve as a rotten example.
Although yes, there is some waste in a government system, due to the inevitable bureaucracy, it is nothing compared to the amount lost in a 'for profit' system. It also fits more in line with the morals of Jesus, as it helps the poor.
don't forget, jesus never forced anyone to do anything good or moraly. To have the government force people to be moral because Jesus said so, means the state is ran by religion.
Hah, yes, I do actually agree with you there, I was just trolling a little with the last line, as it tends to annoy those in the more extreme Christian Republican camp.
plus where they did this video is in rual Kentucky. Where you can drive for 5 hours and not pass one Kentucky Fried Chicken(KFC). Where as I pass 3 just going to work everyday. Where jobs are few, much less any form of health care.
now let them do this in, oh lets say Dallas. The parking lot would be full of Mexicans and blacks. Don't get me wrong here. Nothing against hispanics and African Americans. It just saying the video makes like all white americans are without heathcare.
You know on my moms side of the family I have some cousins who are really lazy. No one in the family really work and they all live off of the system. My dads a doctor and he sees people like this every frickin day. Why should I work my ass off to pay for there health insurance?
BBC Panorama had a show about hypothetical london bombings prior to 7/7 too. let's see if this one "suddenly and unexpectedly" becomes real too. loook for "BBC Panorama" and "7/7", or watch "7/7 ripple effect".
This is important news broadcasting; from England! You want see this in America! South Carolinians can thank Senators Jim DeMint, Lindsay Graham and Comgressman Joe Wilson for this continued scorge of America!
Currently, the US has the most expensive healthcare in the world- per capita. That means we pay more money per person for healthcare. And, we leave 50 million people uncovered.
How is it that the rest of the world can produce superior results with single payer or socialized systems while at the same time spending, in some cases, half of what we spend?
How is it that the rest of the world can produce superior results with single payer or socialized systems while at the same time spending, in some cases, half of what we spend?
Because their healthcare outcomes are worse and they ration care.
That nonsense about infant mortality is not true. Places like cuba don't count the deaths until the baby has died a few days after birth and the reports are self-reported.
We do lead the world in healthcare, if you want healthcare outcomes, you come to America.
Of course we ration care in the US. Private insurance companies do it every day by denying treatment and by cheary picking their clients so that 50 million Americans have zero coverage.
The number one reason for bankruptcy and foreclosure in America is still medical bills.
Our outcomes are worse. Even the new england journal of medicine in a report in 2006 says that wait times in America are worse for ER's and specialists.
Half of the people who file for bankruptcy list healthcare costs as a major reason for filing.
On the other hand, if you're proposing the idea of not paying for healthcare after you've received it, I'm not surprised.
quote from the study-
Based on a survey of 1,771 personal bankruptcy filers, the researchers extrapolated that between 1.9 and 2.2 million people were driven into bankruptcy because of health care costs in 2001.
The US healthcare system consumes more than 15% of our GDP. In other industrialized countries, healthcare takes up a maximum of 10%. Those countries cover 100% of their citizens- they get better outcomes- across the board.
We don't insure nearly 20% of our population, and yet we pay twice as much per capita- not just per insured.
That is with the govt covering the riskiest- seniors and the seriously disabled.
Our health care system is brooken. How are you covered?
You are also comparing other countries the size of one state. Vs all 50 states.
So all the %'s go out the window.
How am I covered. my helth care plan is a major medical insurance. Through where i work. If we drop the plan and went without I would get a $3.87 raise. That's the cost per hour.
Major medical insurance is really great for people my age, really sucks for younger families.
Well if I break a arm it's cost me to, but if I were tohave a heart attcak it's cover 100%.
Is this really America? If this is the greatest country on earth then I'd hate to see the worst. This is from greed, Republican rules, idiots like Bush and Fox News which is the largest propaganda network on the planet. All the above, divide, lie, spread rumors and push unsafe bogus products onto the uneducated consumer.
Obama called your boss and said "Reduce modacolorist's hours"? when did he do this? Pulling the US from collapse (or trying to) is all about increasing work and jobs
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
LOOK at the speech he said REDUCED hours. That means LESS money coming into YOUR home. After all he is a still a po-LIE-tician. Him and Michelle have been ganking poor people in CHICAGO, by working for hospitals that overcharge POOR patient double that amount on their hospital bills. THAT is his past and a leopard does NOT change his spots.
Have you been to Detroit? There are whole sections that look like New Orleans post-Katrina, except there was no hurricane. And when the Big 3 get our bailout money, spend it on huge bonuses to upper management, then close shop anyway... Detroit will be an even bigger hell hole.
Sorry to tell you... political parties just f*** things up. National health care is a bad idea because we all will have to pay for it. Think about this: Is it fair for you to pay for a strangers cancer which lets say costs about $200,000/yr, Now if it was just one person, but what about millions? Somebody has to pay for the health care... but most people are healthy. Free health care means that everyone pays large amounts for health in taxes, which means that rate of poor people increases!
well yeah it is fair. if you have more you should share. its called EQUALITY. go to sweden. there isnt 23 thousand people dying because they dont have healthcare

Yes, those two nasty socialist entities - the Police and Fire Departments.

3. The argument that goes something like this:

The American system is basically a new form of eugenics. If you can't afford health care or you have a pre-existing condition, you won't be able to get health care without going bankrupt. People can die of an infection caused by a toothache, or their whole family may go without health care because one member has a health problem. As long as people think the capitalist/freemarket way of doing things is always the best it will persist. Ask your politicians if they support eugenics...
AveryTimm 3 years ago
What it is though, is British Broadcasting Company way of pushing European style socialism in America.
They are forced into pay higher taxs than Americans and say the are getting free health care. when in fact it cost them 45% of their pay. Are you Americans willing to be taxed even more to a socialized heath care system. Higher taxs with less chances of even seeing a doctor.
ANGLEBOOT 3 years ago
-- Universal Healthcare is CHEAPER, why can't you right wingers understand that?
ibentmyw00kie 3 years ago 2
$12K a year. There's the problem. I have one of the highest costing health care plans and I only pay alittle over $8000.
mine covers much more than the universal healthcare plan in Canada.
1 friend in Canada had bad back problems. They cover him for about a year, after that they told him basically he was on his own. They would no longer cover him. They felt he should be all better now. When his doctors were saying he needed back surgery, the state run health care said he didn't.
ANGLEBOOT 3 years ago
You big jerk. In today's economic times, how insensitive of you to go online and brag that yours is "highest costing health care plan" and it's "only a little over $8000." Why don't you use that insurance to get a heart or a brain replacement. Disgusting.

Heart replacement. Oh that was my wife 4 years ago. My total cost. $000.000.000.00

Get it?

A national health care system isn't a efficient system.
I don't want the government in having anything to do with health care.
The day the government can balance the national budget, just maybe they might beable to run a national health care system. But don't hold your breath.

And BTW, you might want to try spell-check.

Although yes, there is some waste in a government system, due to the inevitable bureaucracy, it is nothing compared to the amount lost in a 'for profit' system. It also fits more in line with the morals of Jesus, as it helps the poor.
funkyalexjones 2 years ago 2
don't forget, jesus never forced anyone to do anything good or moraly. To have the government force people to be moral because Jesus said so, means the state is ran by religion.

Confront that reality.
cornbreadjunkie 3 years ago
How is it that the rest of the world can produce superior results with single payer or socialized systems while at the same time spending, in some cases, half of what we spend?
Because their healthcare outcomes are worse and they ration care.
HowTheWorldWorks 3 years ago
Their outcomes are better.
We are far lower than other countries in things like infant mortality, preventable death, life span...
We do not lead the world in healthcare, and we cost twice as much.
I am not saying this in any partisan spirit, I am saying this because we have a solvable problem, but we aren't doing anything about it.
The last time I used healthcare in Europe, I had a doctore make a housecall. When was the last time you had a housecall?
cornbreadjunkie 3 years ago
That nonsense about infant mortality is not true. Places like cuba don't count the deaths until the baby has died a few days after birth and the reports are self-reported.
We do lead the world in healthcare, if you want healthcare outcomes, you come to America.
HowTheWorldWorks 3 years ago
Not to be insensitive, but I don't think you know what you're talking about. First, it's useless to compare us with a third world dictatorship.
Second, I suggest you look for the OECD published studies on the outcomes and costs for OECD countries.
The OECD is made up of 30 democratic, free market countries. They are the largest economies in the world.
I really won't go into this anymore, because it's clear when someone doesn't really have any interest in accepting new information.
cornbreadjunkie 3 years ago
What alternative reality do you live in.
Stop parroting BS
wolfgangmo 3 years ago

I call, bullshit. anyone taking money that feed, clothe and house your family, is just dumb asses.
You pay what you can when you can, intrest free. oh and they can't repo nothing.
Anyone filing bankruptcy or have a foreclosure due to a doctor or hospital bill are nuts and need to be locked away.
ANGLEBOOT 3 years ago
Half of the people who file for bankruptcy list healthcare costs as a major reason for filing.
On the other hand, if you're proposing the idea of not paying for healthcare after you've received it, I'm not surprised.
quote from the study-
Based on a survey of 1,771 personal bankruptcy filers, the researchers extrapolated that between 1.9 and 2.2 million people were driven into bankruptcy because of health care costs in 2001.
cornbreadjunkie 3 years ago
Divorce is the number one reason people file a bankruptcy.
The number 2 reason is, people were simply that they were overextended.
Followed by, the loss of a job, medical and health reasons. And the heath reason fall under, unable to work to pay the bills.
I have a sister that is a bankruptcy lawyer.
Health care is the same as any bill if you don't have enough income and no income coming in at all.
ANGLEBOOT 3 years ago
The US healthcare system consumes more than 15% of our GDP. In other industrialized countries, healthcare takes up a maximum of 10%. Those countries cover 100% of their citizens- they get better outcomes- across the board.
We don't insure nearly 20% of our population, and yet we pay twice as much per capita- not just per insured.
That is with the govt covering the riskiest- seniors and the seriously disabled.
Our health care system is brooken. How are you covered?
cornbreadjunkie 3 years ago
You are also comparing other countries the size of one state. Vs all 50 states.
So all the %'s go out the window.
How am I covered. my helth care plan is a major medical insurance. Through where i work. If we drop the plan and went without I would get a $3.87 raise. That's the cost per hour.
Major medical insurance is really great for people my age, really sucks for younger families.
Well if I break a arm it's cost me to, but if I were tohave a heart attcak it's cover 100%.

Ricky2112 3 years ago
Absolute hogwash.
The number 2 priority is not people, it's profit margins and stock options.
Number 3 is bonuses.
Number 4 is private jets.
Number 6 is yachts.
Number 7 is their 7th Porche.
Number 8 is their shitzu.
Number 9 is people, but only those ones they can bring over from overseas to work in their homes as maids, cook, or sex slaves.
