Good video. I noticed you took off with flaps down. A "youtube" pilot who commented on another video says to not take off with flaps down on a Cessna. You seemed to make out ok. ;-)
@airnational im going to continue my training with them its $150 per hour and plus $60 when flying with an instructor so in training you will pay $210 per hour their flights are 3 hrs long each
heritage is the only TRUE flight school on long island. they focus on students first and renters last. every instructor that works there loves what they do , which is why they are such good teachers.
how long was the entire flight? you sould get FSX, ittl help you practice at home when your not training at KISP. Im thinking about doing an intro flight, do you think i can start training at age 15?
@machwebtv What country do you live in? In the United States you can SOLO at 16, you can fly by yourself ONLY unless you have a CFI with you, by 17 you can get your PPL but you still can only fly on a VFR day.
It's pretty typical for a flight school to let students/first time pilots get a feel for the controls as early as the first flight. The instructor was responsible for the majority of the take off and landing though. I think you misunderstood.
Every time I hear about another person with XX amount of hours flying it eases my irrational fear about crashing! I can't wait to start doing stalls and such, flying is really such a relaxing experience and it's pretty awesome how the plane takes off at the same speed as the speed limit on the highway here.
Love your Over the Hills and Far Away video too, I've been meaning to learn that for some time (stuck on Karma Police now). Stringing and tuning a 12 string must be great fun!
The most difficult part of flight training for me was to find a school/instructor I could live with. Most places in NY that I've seen appear to be all too eager to extract as much cash from you as they can while giving you an instructor whose only interest is logging flight time so they can qualify for their commercial rating. Getting you to be competent pilot at the least expense to you appears to be the last thing on their minds.
With 56 hours of dual and solo training completed elsewhere and still needing a few more hours of cross-country to fulfill requirements, I decided to inquire about finishing up at this place. Took an evaluation ride with an instructor who found no faults or shortcomings with my flying. Estimated price to finish my training... $4,000! That means that training I already got would have cost me about $28,000 at this place. HOLY #^*&!!!
Good video until you ruined it with crap shitty music.

How much did you pay for your 56 hours of training?
supahjew 4 years ago
I spent just a bit under $7,000, but I must add the fact that I got an exceptionally good deal.
airste172 4 years ago
So how would it have cost you $28,000 at Heritage? That means they quoted you at $500/hr?
supahjew 4 years ago
In a roundabout way, that kinda sums it up.
