  • I have to say ... I'm a fan of Henry's spoken word and such, and was a fan of the original song, and heard Henry talking about this whole event on Provoked and ... well, I'm pretty disappointed! Maybe he bigged himself up too much but, this is pretty underwhelming. Even Gallows do a better rendition.

  • I was listening to a Rollins spoken word CD today and he talked of The Ruts and in particular this show.....I've been listening to/watching as many things as I can tonight...the songs are simply great

  • Like many, the Spoken Word special got me into The Ruts after some English friends got me into Black Flag. I think it's all part of a huge conspiracy to keep me from ever sleeping before 4AM again... Cheers to Henry, and the Ruts, for being such geniuses!

  • Only Rollins could have done it..

  • Unspeakably brilliant. Henry - legend. Paul Fox - legend. Ruts - legends!

  • RIP Paul! Henry has so much energy, there's so much focus in his face. What a guy.

  • MAN what a frontman!

  • Rollin's stage presence is so static but he owns it. just that one pose. its like his trademark

  • i fucking love the dag nasty cover of this song.

  • Fabulous cover. The Ruts sound wonderful, and of course Rollins does. Thanks for sharing!

  • Hi brother needs to chat sian women busizz4me.info

  • Rolliins did the only right thing to do - give everything he has and doing it in his own way and style. I think this is fuckin awesome

  • The Ruts and Henry Rollins...motherfucking awesome! You could not ask for a better show.

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love it.... night to remember x

  • This is amazing dude! amazing! :D

  • Awesome!!!

  • This is fucking awesome. Wish I'd seen this!

  • its not very good, when we listened to the ruts it was the time of the falklands, maggie and running for your life at the football, who is this yank on an ego trip?

  • @sppots HAHAHAHA at you

  • @conor30000 very erudite. I watched some of the rollins vidoes, he seems sincere, i judged in haste. Although i still do not really rate his performance but his heart is certainly in the right place, maybe trying to hard and who can blame him. I saw the ruts original line up in Cardiff, queen street, Top Rank.

    Happy days mate.

  • God, you can just tell that Rollins used to sing this song to himself back when he was a kid. Amazing.

  • Rollins was awesome, as was the band. RIP Paul Fox

  • I just found out about this band and this final show a few days ago, I went back and bought the album (which you should to) and its GREAT GREAT GREAT! Glad to know of this band!

  • Stuning band & Rollins did 'em proud. Cheers

  • Classic Track, you can download the albums Crack & Grin and Bear It for a good price.

  • When Foxy does the riff to this at the start it is a riff that he took to his grave cause no matter how many people take the piss out of punks not playing the guitar properly - Foxy could play chords that nobody would have a clue how to play.

Sparizzla - Of course we all agree that Malcolm rests in peace but -

Henry loves - and has total respect for - Malcolm, Foxy and the Ruts

Everyone watching this video loves Malcolm, Foxy and the Ruts

    What is your problem?

  • check 'jello biafra 2012' in google...

    cheers

  • lol accountant. what does an accountant sound like?

  • Yes...I agree

  • During the war - no sorry, I'll start again - In 1979, during one of my many visits to the Final Solution household in Leyton, Malcolm Owen and Seggs came in and we all sat round talking about Peelie among other things and drinking tea. Great times.

  • I heard the whole story at Henry's Spoken Word Show in Newcastle in February. Amazing

  • @RD2006 I just watched it on one of his DVDs. It's a hell of a story.

  • He's still got many stories to tell. Can't wait to see him do spoken word again.

  • Hard to believe this was almost a year ago. I am glad to have been there.

    RIP Paul.

  • there in the flesh, saw it with my own eyes, got the t-shirt, dyin' 'appy,x

  • I remember Henry mentioning this gig on his radio show, then reiterating last Sunday in Glasgow at his spoken word show. I am pleased I searched the Internets to find this video, it is just amazing. It's terrible news that Foxy passed so soon after this gig, but I can't think of a better final farewell from such an awesome guy.... Also for the masses of fans they have drawn in over the years...

    I need this DVD..

    Nap

  • I was at the Glasgow show, 5th row from the front (Row C), was an awesome show, and he was right, this was an incredible gig. I remember seeing it advertised, and stupidly putting off buying the tickets, he wasnt joking about it selling out that quickly!

  • "internets" yes!

  • haha, my googles

  • I see we all found this on our youtubes...

  • That so f-ing rocked!

The Ruts + Rollins = brilliant!

damn I wish I was there. Ordered the DVD last week!

  • What a nite that was all brought back to me last Friday .AWESOME.

  • Absolute class. Thx 4 posting. :)

  • Pleasure! The official DVD is released this Friday at a special night in Shepherd's Bush... should be another one to remember!

  • Awesome, just awesome, so much intesity and passion at once. I just heard HENRY ROLLINS mentioning it last night in Hamburg during his spoken word performance and he couldn't be more right.

  • god bless foxy and his family

  • The Ruts are one of the best UK punk bands and yet are hardly known at all in the states. Still looking for them on vinyl. Someone please re-release.

  • Wow, I had no idea this was a cover.

    Cool though.

  • RIP Paul Fox

  • hare krishna mate

  • Ruts were legends. No other band could sniff their shirt-tails, and I include the Jam and Clash in that statement! I'm from West London and feel that they were MY band! God bless you Malcom and Paul.

  • IS HE ON A SURF BORD?

  • Rollins does a good job on this track yes ( Someone old enough to have seen the Ruts)

  • I hate to admit it but that macho meat head Rollins did a great job. It was an amazing night, never thought I'd get to go wild to the Ruts live. having missed them first time around. A classic old school punk gig, no macho mosh pit h/c fighting just dancing and singing and fun. Thanks to Foxy, Dave and Segs and to Malcolm, you were so great and brought me so much pleasure. Here's hoping Foxy makes it through. Its a week later and my neck still hurts ! must be gettin old!

  • Thanks for posting this. Takes me right back to those crazy days of the late 70s, The Ruts were and still are the best of the best. Would have been worth the trip from Australia to be there. Thinking of you Paul, all the best from down under.
