  • An Jeffrey Daniel, who moonwalked in a performance of Shalamar's "A Night To Remember" on Top of the Pops in the UK in 1982, and was known to perform backslides in public performances (including weekly Soul Train episodes) as far back as 1974.[13] Michael Jackson was a fan of Jeffrey Daniel's dancing and would eventually seek him out.

  • In response to earlier suggestion that James Brown invented the moonwalk.. Michael Jackson did of course learn a lot from James Brown but not i think the moonwalk. It has been stated I think by him that he picked it up from the street dancers that used to do brake dancing robotics etc, infact if you go and watch Dancing Machine you will see that this style obviously heavily influenced him.

  • Have you ever watched an MJ video and payed close attention to his footwork and tried to copy him but you eventually end up falling on your face? Lol Michael you are so AWESOME!

  • HEY RETARD JAMES BROWN CREATED THE MOONWALK AND MANY OTHER MOVES MJ USED

Heartbreaker by Michael Jackson from the Invincible album in 2001.

  • WHAT IS THE MUsIC???

  • where and when did he give this performance?

  • @malarmelody in all history tour shows.

  • @Santiago9565 do u know for which song?

  • He's got the moooooooooooves like J.... James Brown!!

  • Electric Legs! Lord have mercy!

  • MJ is the true king. He can sing and dance his ass off end of story. But I can admit that if it wasn't James Brown there wouldn't be any MJ and if it wasn't for MJ there would be no Usher, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, etc.

  • 83 who does'nt know what dance is!! all love in world to michael <3

  • 83 people hatin

  • maravilhoso ! quem vai supera-lo ? ninguém ! king of pop and dance .

  • This my friends is the holy spirit showing through micheal.....

  • I think to me this is one of the more harder dances moves in learning because u got to control and feel it. There's more to this than what most people think.

  • @PREZBOY13 Yes

  • @PREZBOY13 It's very intricate movements and close to tap more then to basic hiphop, hence you don't see moves like this, these kinda moves Michael surely practiced for years and years to perfect but he was very adapt and keen at imitating his dancing inspirations early on were largely JB, Fred Astaire, Fact is he was popping these kinds of moves when he was as old as 8.

  • @PREZBOY13 Right.

  • they dislike cuse there blosing

  • It's not dancing, it's not music, it's not James Brown, it's just Micheal Jackson

  • MJ mimicked James Brown and the Soul Train dancers. A large portion of MJ's dance moves came from the Soul Train dancers

  • @nigelbruce232

most of the dance moves of James and Soul Train dancers are not totally novel and known from the 30s-40s. Michael brought a pop choreography to a new, higher level, this is his chief merit.

  • @TrueLife19921 I wasnt aware of that aspect.....I do know that a lot of MJ's moves (Robot and Pop and Lock)

came from the Soul Train dancers......I wasn't aware of the others.....but now I am.....thanks....and yes MJ was incredible at his dancing.....no argument here.....

  • Is it that big of a surprise that MJ was influenced by James Brown?

  • ISN'T HE INCREDIBLE!

  • Moves like CAB CALLOWAY, BTW what an awful clothes

  • Amazing Shoes. Anybody knows what kind of shoes he have in this film? I wanna to buy it

  • WHATS MUSIC IS THIS (composer + performer please!!!)????????

  • @ladiskett None other than Michael Jackson - title Heartbreaker - album Invincible

  • @ladiskett mj

  • great video! perfect timings on most things :)

  • This is so DANGEROUS.....I mean MJ was so BAD he could dance OFF THE WALL....Think about it. He was INVINCIBLE...Nobody was a THRILLER like Mike in entertainment. Definitely GONE TO SOON but hey..We can NEVER SAY GOODBYE to his music and legacy!! When they release his new recordings....I'll BE THERE!!!

  • @oneluv72 Haha nice one :)

  • There should be no dislike button on a MJ Video

  • I will bet anyone that if michael was still living and hit the age of 80 . he still would be able to dance like he is now and girls would still be chasing him

  • Tight A** Sexy Jackson

  • Definitly the best dancer ever !

  • Awesome. Watching this makes me smile and REMEMBER THE TIME!

  • Choose Your Level :

    Justin Bieber

    Easy As HELL

    Easy

    Normal

    Hard

    The Beatles

    Expert

    Impossible

    MICHAEL JACKSON

  • Mike looks better than an Academy Award!!!

  • heartbreaker ♫ i love this song !

  • @cristiamrissopatron Me too ! :D

  • everyday he shuffling..

  • 82 people doesn't know how to dance.

  • Michael Jackson is better than James brown

  • Michael did it better than James Brown.

  • YOU ARE THE BEST OF ALL TIME AND ALL THE WORLD KNOW THAT.

  • This man "felt" the music. A divinely gifted man.

  • Michael Jackson was precision, every move, every note of a song and the exact move to go with it and he made it look sooooo easy and smooth. JB was his greatest inspiration he always said that, always! Now to Usher and CB they are good but their moves look plasticly and not fluent like they are trying tooo hard to be like MJ, MJ always imitated but never ever be duplicated!

  • tell me a thing MJ could not do. you even listening to that song, the beatboxing, there are videos on utube with him tap dancing like Fred Astaire from a young age, he was just something else man something else!!!!!!

  • that is a bad man!

  • WOWZERS!!! is all I can say. Enough!

  • michael jackson éo cara!!!!!!!

  • wat a man

  • You cant say that MJ better then James Brown bcuz he Idolized him ...... That the First Dance Moves he Knew since 5 yrs old ...... even Mj Says it him self on BET awards and at his Funeral "No One Can be better then This Man Right Here ..... Not even me" ........ @JustinMcGuire01 Its on every History Tour well only ones that have 1997 Like "Michael Jackson Wanna Be startin Something LIVE in Munich 1997" he does it only in Wanna Be starting something.......

  • Which performance from HWT is this?

  • MJ IS BETTER THEN JAMES BROWN.

  • Aow! 0:18

  • G.O.A.T=MJ

  • James Brown >>> Michael Jackson

  • @tremerin1

I actually think that in general Jackson was a much better dancer than James Brown. more technical and plastic..

  • I remember one YouTube user commented that James and Michael were like Obi- Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker, I love that simile. I also like to think of James as the awe-inspiring predecessor and Michael as the awe-inspiring successor (particularly when it comes to top class dancing).

  • Love when he does this...SEXY!!!! His eyes are really sexy, though!

  • Michael learned from the master and put his own spin on the dance.

  • jus tooo fast

  • mj has style.....and lightinng feet, lol :p

  • that guy there....i tell ya....michael jackson....there wil never be another him....he had flash and style with the moves....in this new era it's chris brown....chis is more acrobatic, but mj just had the 'look' with it......he is beyond amazing. :p

  • Type in "EJ Dillon-Smith This Is It" we have to help him get a record deal!

  • good shit thats quick as hell

  • he cant do it as good as james brown but then again mj made some of his own style, n took it to a differnt level

  • @desimichealjackson lol MJ do it wayy faster and better

  • The one and only master of dance

  • we now this, its not new.. btw the moonwalk was not invented by MJ eather

  • its well documented that MJ used to watch james as a kid and was fascinated by his footwork. u can tell that james was a huge inspiration on micheals dance style. thank God for both james and MJ.

  • FAKE!! nobody can dance that good. Amazing what special effects can do.

  • @HollywoodKendrick whatever!

  • @HollywoodKendrick These movements are actually real!!

  • I cant even do that in my sleep....

like this shit would be so hard to do, i cant even imagine it

MJ was just one of a kind

  • This is unhuman, gives me goosebumps. Did you all know the floor is still smoking 15 or 20 years later? I know Usher was like his protégé, and Ush does give MJ his props. Chris B I feel just jumped on that bandwagon more since his bad publicity as a way to get some MJ fans & to get some forgiveness. But no matter how hard anyone tries... IT IS NOT THE SAME. This man OWNED any stage he graced. All while not cursing, shouting sexual garbage or being a jackass. He is purely just loving & kind.

  • OMG! That was soooo AMAZING! Mike is just the ultimate dancer.

  • mike studied james brown verry much on tv as a little boy that's why he could do his dancemoves so verry well, but he also liked it to do moves of frank sinatra and gene kelly. it was not to follow how fast his feet were and that's also why his dad couldn't get him when he wanted to beat him in his young periode with the j5. when they made 1 failor in dancemoves or notes they were beaten up by joe and he didn't allow the kids to call him dad. it's like they never had a dad

  • whats the song?

  • @jingolder Heartbreaker

  • ahhhh i love his feet!! nd this song makes me laugh. i think this was another underraterd song from the invincible album

  • MJ had electric feet........I think!!!!!!!

  • just one word...HOW!?!?!?!

  • This Excellent clip CLEARLY shows JB's influence on Michael. Michael took it and spiced it up a bit and made it even better and smoother and effortless. to ME theres 3 great live entertainers: Sammy Davis, Jr, James Brown, and Michael Jackson. in that order! NO one can touch them in blowin away a live audience they were absolutely incredible onstage!!!

  • dont forget about the best tap dancer of his era, bill bailey....he invented the moonwalk, lol :p

  • @mazaratialbum lol man mj tried many times to explain that he didn't invented the moonwalk, but he saw these old guys to do it and he tried to concentrate these moves to one move...mj took moonwalk to another level and made that we watched by him... but i agree like him that he didn't created moonwalk... :)

  • yeah in every era the dance will always improve....but i don't htink anyone will top mj's moonwalk....mj never named it the monwalk....the media did....he just rolled with it.....bailey called it the 'backslide'... :p

hey do you have a facebook page?....i work in radio in houston....i need to add more facebook friends.....if you do, type in dorail mrprducer crayton and i'll pop up ;P

  • @forasajeWhy do you belittle Michael?? Нe wrote for HIStory: "They Don't Care About Us", "Stranger in Moscow", "Earth Song", "DS", "Money", "Childhood",. "Little Susie". 7 out of 15 songs he wrote himself (read the credits) + a few co-authored.

He himself (without co-authors) wrote 90% of his biggest hits: Billie Jean, Hit, Beat it, Earth Song, Bad, Smooth criminal, white or black, etc.

Jackson entered the Hall of Fame writers and composers, he acknowledged master in the creation of songs.

  • cool :)

  • @Hoopermazing And neither did Michael....

  • @Hoopermazing first of all twit neither did MJ. And secondly his accusers were both Ethnic! First boy was mixed raced (jew/black) and the second was Mexican. At least get basic facts right retard if your gonna accuse some1 of diddling..

  • Mike learned from the best, then perfected it. Now they're getting their dance groove on in Heaven. Rest in PEACE, Godfather and King of Pop.....

  • Michael i just came here to say that i love you and remeber we had a date

in the amazing hollywood restaurant i'll be waiting for you

  • Not even James could do that move in that way!

    God , Mike you're a genious ♥

  • @alejandra97mj James Brown is the true king

  • @Chippy215Boss , James was truly a king of dance, I admire him too!

  • @Chippy215Boss Of course, without him Michael wouldn't be the same. What I meant is, Michael took everything to the next level. But James is a Legend, yes!

  • he does all of the steps and glides so fast and so gracefully it is beautiful to watch

  • i think these moves are not something that be tutorialized. you actually gotta watch how they do this cause it's complicated. took a little to learn it. especially the three step thing they do.

  • Ulll adoru d + esse passo ! *-*

  • what number is this ?

  • @malukub0vensmilde, it is Heartbreaker

  • mike was the only one to eva move jus like j brown

  • Michael learned so many moves from James Brown and ALWAYS GAVE HIM CREDIT FOR IT.NEVER CLAIMED TO HAVE INVENTED THEM. JAMES BROWN WAS HIS IDOL. And what a cute little tush on Michael...Hehehehe!!!!

  • هع والله مايكل مرة مو كذا

  • cool

  • mj+jb kings of music

  • 0:40 that one is just... wow I have seen this so many times, but that little clip especcially I have to repeat a few times every time I see this it's so magic.

  • James Brown was "moon dancing" when Michael Jackson was still crapping in his diapers.

  • @popeye1250 Didn't take MJ long to start busting his moves but

  • How the hell does he do it?!?!?!?

  • please write clear english

  • who could possibly dislike this...what is wrong with you people...this is beautiful...

  • moves MJ copied of JB. JB is the creator of all his steps, but never the less MJ slipes those like a briljant

  • @lekkerdropje WHAT justin beiber are u saying :O

  • @DctrNugget JB is james brown.... keep up with it man...

  • THE FUCKING BEST !!

  • this is really cute. look at how he moves so effortlessssly!!!

  • Mike's the only singer who does dances that I can't even wrap my head around, let alone replicate. Chris Brown is nice, but his clowning and krumping just takes a little practice to master. This sh*t we just watched is almost supernatural, lol.

  • @TheBourgeoisDubois, I agree with you, but we're talking about JAMES Brown, not Chris Brown...

  • @TheBourgeoisDubois yes yes yes

  • @TheBourgeoisDubois THIS IS SUPERNATURAL ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLICATE THIS AND IM A HELL OF A DANCER!!!!! WOW

  • @TheBourgeoisDubois do you know how to clown or krump? I can do all of mj's moves.

  • Mj made James dance steps perfect

  • واالله يــــــــــــــــــا موته انه ســـــتر له .......................!!!!

  • @Thedeadmanwalking09

justin beiber is watching this video and he thinks it's fake. Chris brown is watching this and his head is spinning.

  • Omg Michael went so hard when he danced that when he runs the footage back and is shocked that he actually hit a certain move....talk about King of Dance!

  • Зая моя, нет круче тебя и не будет никого!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I really want to post a good comment,But After seeing MJ's performance,i'm Speechless>OMG!

  • @prettyboy0909 Michael idol was James Brown, is a genius because he make in someway innovate the moves by James Brown and make his own moves but whatever both dance incredible

  • Amazing dancer !

  • Michael's moves are so fast, he does them before my brain can process them.

  • Comment removed
