I ordered a Bolt Plus and DC 127 in 2011 which I had to return because of unfixable fret buzz. The finish on both guitars, however, was excellent. Total shipping costs and a pro guitar set on the second guitar costs me over $400. That’s $400 out the window and good deal of time wasted. Disappointed since most the guitars at half the price like Ibanez seldom have bad fret buzz. Maybe I just got 2 lemons. Probably my fault for buying something over the mail w/o trying it first. Buyer be warned.
People who say Carvin copied PRS are idiots. There are only so many ways you can shape a peice of wood (within logic) to make a nice, normal looking guitar. Among single cuts, there aren't that many variations. Among double cuts, there aren't that many variations. Get over it. The Carvin CT6 has a different bottom cut than PRS.
I have been playing Carvin since 1982. They are very high quality guitars. Most folks who have actually played em agree.PRS is nice for sure, but the Carvin is such a bargain how could not check one out? Well actually that can be pretty difficult cause they are hard to find used, and you have to order one new otherwise.
and still you can custom made your own online and still they are not that expensive.. a stock les paul or a stock PRS are almost twice as much.. love the carvins
I ordered a PRS for €2,500 then got told there was delay with it being shipped. I went back to the music store and bought a CT6M instead and they said I could trade it in if I preferred the PRS. PRS finally arrived and, despite being €1,000 more, the Carvin feels, sounds and looks better.
PRS are great, don't get me wrong, but the Carvin for me is a better guitar at less cost.
I play clean in a funk band and distorted for practising (Satch, Vai etc.) and the Carvin is incredible!
As far as I'm concerned Carvin and PRS are great but personally I'll buy a Carvin because they're a little bit cheaper and I know it's not a P.O.S. :D
carvin did copy prs! ARE U SERIOSLY THAT IGNORANT! first, carvin is all about authentic and original shape, secondo: the variation of wood, the craftmaship and the sound is far superior than prs.
Paul Reed Smith didn't invent quilted maple tops, carved tops, or the double cut-away. I'm suprised, they only really showed CT's in this video. The Carvins blow the doors off of the PRS's, which look prettier than they play.
In short Carvin has delivered the goods as ordered with a Zero Tolerance for less than perfect workmanship and materials. It is apparent that everyone involved in the construction of this instrument has given their all. From the person who sharpens the router bits to the people in shipping. My faith has in American Manufacturing has been renewed by Carvin!
ru seriously that ignorant? the shape of the guitar is not that important. carvin just wanted to offer a carve top guitar with a set neck because many people like that "les paul" type of SOUND which every company has tried to recreate..especially PRS. That doesnt meant they're copying gibson either. Some people need that strat type of sound , some like jackson sounds for lead, and some like that crunchier tone that les paul STARTED.

Oh man, those Carvin carved tops are so gorgeous. I'd rather have one of those than a PRS.

no carvin has a totally different build structure (yes the guitars look very similar)
but carvin has a far superior quality product than the current prs custom range
