  • Yes, lets all carry guns so the country can destroy itself faster and our Chinese overlords can take over.

  • He sounds 100% like Homer Simpson in that voice.

  • First time I've seen this another person in a wheel chair like me carrying

  • A few years ago I had sexual relationship with a woman whose husband was in a wheelchair & unable to make love. He knew & approved, saying she needed the periodic physical release.

Then one day he first asked if he could ‘observe’ us in action (yuk!), then complained she was “enjoying it too much”. He started whingeing about how it made him feel inadequate- but I just walked out, telling him to save it for his counsellor. I’ve no time for that kind of nonsense. Dickhead!

  • let sara brady tell her to just walk away from a rapeist!

  • :-) wow

  • Listen to her-- she is a dumb ass. Just like millions of dumb asses that think criminals will shake in their boots of knowing that people have guns-- BULLSHIT. These criminals will smoke your ass just before they shove that misinterpreted part of the constitution up your nra asses. Carrying a weapon is not a deterent to crime. Lets get honest-- it's a statement. Hint: Criminals don't hear you.

  • @frankiesmoo

Carrying a weapon is not a deterrent to crime? The death penalty is not a deterrent to serial killing either. An 8 year sentence for using a firearm to commit a violent crime is not a deterrent either. An additional 10-15 years for using that weapon in a violent crime is not a deterrent either. 25 years+ for using that firearm in the commission of a rape or deadly assault is not a deterrent either. Spending multiple life sentences in prison for murder is not a deterrent either.

  • @frankiesmoo listen do you realy think that some ass hole would try to rob a bank knowing that every other person there had a damn gun? as he/she pulled out the weapon and started trouble there wold be more guns pointing back at him/ her as soon as he/ she did som stupid shit like that, he/ she would become a dam spaghetti stainer as soon as he/she tried anything!!!

so... HELL NOOOO!!!! yeah there maybe somone suicidal would try it but that about it!!!

  • I have been attacked in the street over 120 times before I moved to America. But since I've been wandering the streets packing heat I haven't been mugged once!

  • Dumb asses--criminals don't give a fuck. They will shoot his ass and dump her ass out of the wheel chair like it ain't nothin. You are sadly disalusioned.

  • @frankiesmoo No problem. Someone else nearby who is carrying either open or concealed will improve that criminal's attitude in a hurry.

  • @mugaliens . Majority of America is not trained to do what you suggest. Lets hope a love one of yours is no where near. Wouldn't it be fucked up if you shot at a criminal and hit a child--possibly yours.

  • A criminal looking to make cash...who will they rob first? The person open carrying a gun or wearing a lot of jewelry?

  • Good for her, need more people to be packing in plan site.

  • That is great!! I never thought about it but people who are physically handicapped would benefit a great deal from being able to carry a firearm. That would actually even the tables if someone was to attempt to assault that person.

    Keep on exercising your rights.

  • FIREARMS I.D. Card for PEPPER SPRAY? You gotta be fuckin' kidding me. Why need a FIREARMS ID for a SPRAY... a LIQUID spray? There is no "fire" or "combustion" or "explosion" for pepper spray. Oh, the united states is certainly turning into a tyrannical police state.

God help us all. I hope the resistance will prevail over tyranny.

  • I know its completely stupid, I used to live in Massachusetts. You can't even own a long gun without an FID and all guns are registered. It's basically Canada, the only difference is you can carry a concealed weapon if you happen to live in the right town.

  • i only carry concealed. give criminals a suprise suprise if they try something.

  • In the UK, I transcribing reports of domestic violence. Case workers are called before police. A person has to be seriously injured for the police to be called in. So many acts of violence never make it into any criminal statistics. In the US the police are called first so there is greater charge rate and reporting. With direct knowledge of both systems. I would say you can't trust a comparison due to the different reporting methodology.

  • So murders aren't reported in the UK, or they are reported as something other than a violent crime? What about rapes? Robbery? Mugging? Assault?

Those crimes are all "reported differently" in Europe than they are here in the USA?

European's are padding their stats? Please!

England is the most closely surveilled society in the world with cameras on practically every corner.

That is a blatant lie that police only come if someone is "seriously injured."

  • Your profile says you're an American, yet you "transcribe" reports of domestic violence in the UK.

    What does that even mean?

You claim that domestic assaults are underreported in the UK compared to the USA.

Why wouldn't a domestic abuse case worker in the UK press charges against an abusive spouse?

I find your claim really difficult to believe.

  • Look up BUNAC as a student you can get a work visa to the UK for 6 months. When I worked there was a serious under reporting of many acts of violence due to a lack of confidence in police. Another reason was the boys will be boys mentality called hooliganism. And if you bother to report the impression is nothing gets done so why bother.

There is a book in the works called, "Silent Scandal," about under-reporting of crime on elderly in the UK.

  • Good comment. (looks like fczwartek has you all figured out??..geez!) We will all soon be criminals here in the usa if all goes as planned. Fact is conviction records are not available here, only arrest records and that remains part of a persons life history guilty or Innocent.

  • I am a gun owner, I own several, I go hunting etc. But I own them for home protection aswell. If you plan on carrying a gun around a person must be prepared to kill someone. You can carry the gun all you want but if it comes down to you and them and you can't see yourself killing someone else then you don't need a gun. Carrying a gun will most likely increase the chance of you getting shot. People get shot usually because they get involved in things they should not be dong.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome

  • No open carry is legal here, but I carry a concealed pistol all the time.

  • a permit for pepper spray???

in my neck of the woods they sell that stuff at the dollar store.

  • Nice presents. These are good people.

  • fczwartek, I strongly advise you to read the Harvard study on gun control which showed the opposite of what you state ("guns don't deter crime").

    law(dot)harvard(dot)edu/students/orgs/jlpp/

    Vol30_No2_KatesMauseronline(dot)pdf

  • I'm not making the argument that gun control is an effective tool for reducing crime.

I'm saying that gun ownership does not reduce crime rates.

On an individual level I will grant you that if a thief were to see you with a gun they would be less likely to target you. But if that thief goes and attacks someone else, you didn't exactly deter any crime.

I think a person should have the right to defend themselves if they are attacked, certainly. Again, different that deterrence.

  • @MagnusIan Wow, a Harvard study that shows "guns don't deter crime". I'll take what a "Harvard Study" finds with a grain of salt just like you do with Fox News.

  • @Grantrus71 The quote "guns don't deter crime" is not from me, but from another user (I was quoting him). I was stating that the study showed the opposite of what he thought and that indeed guns deter crime.

  • @MagnusIan Oops, Grantrus71 jumping the gun again...as it were. Sorry. :o)

  • Comment removed

  • @Grantrus71 No worries :)

  • 1. Gun ownership is just one of the plethora of factors that affect the crime rate. Gun ownership can deter crime but be overwhelmed in the statistics by the other factors.

    2. It is crazy hard to compare crime rates between countries. The differences reporting standards and practices make it a nightmare.

    3. No one is asserting that gun ownership is a complete solution to crime. People being able to defend themselves probably helps. Ending the drug war would help immensely.

  • If it is "crazy to compare crime rates between countries" due to "different reporting standards and practices" couldn't the same be said about reporting crime rates between states, or even cities towns and districts?

You discredit such comparisons as "crazy" because they don't happen to align with your personal views on gun ownership.

Explain to me why a comparison of crime rates and gun ownership between the USA and Europe is not valid?

  • I said it is "crazy hard" sorry if my slightly colorful language is so confusing.

The point is you cant just look at the reported numbers from the government in two locations and take them at face value. You have to look at what exactly they are reporting and the standards for doing so. I have tried before and it is a huge pain in the ass.

Regardless, even if there is a difference see point 1 in my previous post.

  • We don't think guns solve crimes. We think guns, knives, pepper spray, baseball bats, 9 irons, 2 x 4's prevent crimes or stop crimes in progress from escalating.

Do you think cops open-carry for shits & giggles?

But go ahead and keep pretending to yourself that 'gun free zones' are the 'solution' as you say. Virginia Tech, Columbine HS and the Denver Mall were all 'gun free zones'.

    Have a nice day.

  • Niles, next time read what I write before you have a knee jerk spasm attack reaction.

I'm not advocating gun control. I think those decisions should be left to states and localities. What works well for NH and VT might be a whole lot different than what works for NYC.

I never said anything about gun free zones. Nothing! Don't put words in my mouth.

And don't pretend that the gun lobby does not use twisted crime deterrence to push gun ownership.

They do, and they are wrong.

  • "I'm not advocating gun control." or "...don't pretend that the gun lobby does not use twisted crime deterrence to push gun ownership."

Please clerify your stance. Are you for gun ownership but against gun lobbies?

My Constitutional rights to Life, Liberty, Speech etc. would be dead without my right to defend them.

The 2nd Amendment was given to ALL Americans to defend ourselves against TYRANNY, not so we could shoot deer.

  • I'm neutral about gun ownership. The gun lobby is no different than tobacco lobby really. They both just have one purpose; to convince people to buy their product.

It's sad that you think your gun is defending you against tyranny. Tyranny has tanks, stealth fighters, massed infantry, nuclear bombs.

You are delusional if you think your guns are some kind of defense against that kind of firepower.

This isn't the 19th century anymore. You're offering a crazy solution to a real problem.

  • I never said our guns were the solution against today's tyranny. I said that the 2nd, back in the day, assured that the Rights spelled out in the 1st were protected.

The Gun Owners of America is the only gun rights group I have any respect for.

The only chance America has is our law enforcement and military who swore an Oath to uphold the Constitution. You should watch the 10 minute OathKeepers presentation here on youtube to see what I'm talking about.

  • What is the average of violent crimes per 1,000 people compared to the EU and america?

Why is it that in the UK the violent crime rate has nearly doubled since their nationwide gun ban?

  • As soon as we ban guns, the drug cartels, the drug dealers, Islamic terrorists they will still have guns. and for those criminals not fortunate to own a gun will knife you.

uk has knife crime. are we going to have knife control as the solution to gun control?

  • Actually it would be far more instructive to see a violent-crime (come on, I don't think guns have a measurable impact on red-light running or speeding) VS gun-laws visualization superimposed on a US map.

Places like MA, NJ, CA and NYC would also be interesting to compare to Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, Tallahassee, Houston and Phoenix.

IOW, I doubt your metrics are entirely correct.

  • NYC (for example) has made the penalties for carrying a gun more stringent over the last 20 years or so......

and the crime rate has plummeted.

    Correlation? Maybe....maybe not.

But I can guarantee you that if you compared a map of poverty levels in the United States with a map of violent crime rates you would find a direct correlation.

  • If other factors, poverty among them, have a greater affect on crime then gun availability then that is one of the reasons you cant claim the differences in crime rates as evidence that guns do not deter crime. The other factors muddy the waters.

  • So if you're saying that gun ownership does not determine crime rates, why does the gun lobby and every gun advocate say that guns deter crime and that "more guns equal less crime?"

It's always one of the first arguments made by gun advocates. Are they wrong?

  • I have been very clear. If you still don't understand the point then I have no desire to continue the conversation.

  • Crime would be even worse here if America was disarmed. After the recent gun bands in the UK and Australia violent crime went up in both countries.

  • Awesome, they're not even free state project participants.
