Sisko's presence on DS9 was always intimidating, especially about 35 minutes into the show when he seemed to always have some powerful speech where he gives the impression 'move something and you will be harmed!' I have always loved his father-son relationship with Jake and aspire to be that way with my own children, very caring and will do anything for them, but not taking any shit!
He acutally makes sense in this interview, I watched The Captains and I didnt know what the hell he was talking about. If fact I thought he was drunk.
Lord in Heaven, what a voice that man has! I'd love to hear him reciting poetry or declaiming a Shakespearean soliloquy. The Ben Sisko character was always one of my favorites. Utterly human and someone you could identify with because he was a family man. And, man, oh, man, he did have that powerful voice of his that could rivet your attention in the moments of tension. If I had a voice like that, I'd make a fortune giving speeches or something. I bet he can sing too.
@MrMega0303 Yep. That's him. He had the bald head back then too, but when he started Trek, they asked him to grow hair. They didn't want 2 bald captains. :P
@yodasdad Haha... I never noticed the two bald captains thing. Good point. Actually in one interview he said that when they were worried he looked too much like Hawk from Spenser for Hire at that point, so they made him grow hair and shave off his goatee. After a few seasons they weren't so worried anymore and he was allowed to shave his hair.
@mahdogzbite Yeah,Donnie Yen would be Chief of Security,Sammo Hung and Tony Jaa would be Strike Force Leaders,Harry Kim would be alive and serve as Chief Engineer,Michelle Yeoh would be 2nd Officer,Language Expert and Doctor,Rain Bi (Ninja Assassin) would be Communications Officer,Zhang Ziyi would be Counselor,Wu Jin would be Science Officer.Colin Chou (Seraph, protector of THE ORACLE in Matrix, starred opposite Donnie Yen in Flashpoint) is Kim's empathic brother,Bow Sim-Mark is their Guinan.Lol.
Don't forget American Idol's William Hung as a ensign Ricky... he'll die just after 10 minutes of the first episode of Noodle Trek - The curse of the fortune cookie.
The DS9 pilot was absolutely brilliant and so was Brooks's performance. He sold the role so well that it's obvious he was excited to play it and had put a lot of thought into how he wanted to play it.
I absolutely loved you on DS9. You and the others on that show brought forth a sense of unity and community that I found on no other Startrek series. DS9 is and always will be my favorite series of all time. This is 100% due to the people that were in it, and the incredible lives we get to share with all of you.
Thank you, and everyone else that made this series a reality!
He is right. The pilot was just beautiful. I still remember it all these years later. Not sure what happened to the plot lines after that though. Such promise but something just got bogged down over time. The first episode was really brilliant though and he was just amazing in it, a beautiful television moment.
Anyone who is a true fan of star trek will be able to tell the difference between LeVar and Avery. They do not look anything alike, how could anyone even mix them up? Go and get your eyes checked, or maybe you might need jordi's visor, lol.
@MrHoppers002 So, one episode with a Vulcan captain is good enough for you, but an entire movie, several books etc. with your awesome Asian captain isn't? You really don't make any sense at all.
@guumbastic yeah but didnt he feature as captain of the excelsior in only one movie? im reffering to star trek the undiscovered country. i think mr hoppers was talking about a series. but a series based on hikaru sulu as captain could be awesome!
@MrHoppers002 Funny thing is he actually did.I forgot the episode but there were two Voyagers. One was caught in a anomaly or something.Any way one Harry died etc.A horrible death to he was spaced.
@honshiriuru That's horrible! I didn't know that! I really liked Harry Kim too! He should be brought back...and be the Chief Engineer for Jackie Chan's starship.
@ATACXGYM It is ok.I don't want to spoil it for you but there was a time/warp/anomaly thingy so every thing worked out.You know no one really ever dies in Star Trek, well not every one.
@MrHoppers002 Star Trek VI. Now you might say "That doesn't count, it was just the one movie," and you'd have a point, but at least it was an established character, not some one-off senior officer extra.
In the penultimate episode of ENT, Hoshi is left in command, completing her arc or something. There's one scene with her on the bridge looking very confident, but she never actually sits down. I believe she and Phlox are the only ENT characters who never sat in the big chair.
@MrHoppers002 It would have followed Voyager, and I think by 2001 the market for a direct TOS spinoff wasn't there. After the novelty of a show starring Sulu died down, give it a few weeks, at best it would have drawn the dwarfish audiences Enterprise got, probably even less. Takei deserves better than that.
@breeismaname That must've been before the beard came back, which was a few episodes into season 4 (I think, or season 3, can't remember. I'm pretty sure the bead and the Defiant are a package deal; bad ass ship, bad ass beard or some such)
Why is he dressed like a douchebag?

@MrMega0303 No. That would be David "Dr Who" Tennant.
He got to be the star in a movie where Johnny Depp was HIS co-star
He got to play The Doctor
He married the daughter of HIS favorite Doctor (Peter Davidson)
You NOW that David offered his soul AND an iPad for all that!

He'll have Jet Li as his 1st officer.
Only problem would be we'd have to watch it with subtitles all the time.
