  • Such unbridled beauty and spirit! The dance and song of liberated souls, indeed.

Who can tell me?. I have heard stories that the Gypsies take their name from Egyptians and are the end of an ancient (pre-) Egyptian civilization; perhaps, remnant Atlanteans. Is this a popular belief or understanding?

    No "guessers" or doubters, please.

  • @happycamper11777 They take their name from Egyptians, thats because people started calling them that as they thought they were from Egypt. Also it is now known that they originally came from India and took different paths and traveled the world. Some went through the Middle East into North Africa and into Spain and Europe some stayed in the Middle East, North Africa or Spain and some traveled on. Some just went through Turkey and made their way into main land Europe.

  • @Richlyares that makes so much sense, as there is that cultural commonality between all the the places you mentioned especially regarding music and dance.

  • very very nice - beautiful culture, but unfortunately struggling w/ poverty,. leading a nomadic lifestyle, outcasts, all that stuff.. too bad, we\re all supposed to be the same..

  • Girl is beautiful.

  • kid's got an amazing voice

  • The world always offers something new to see.

  • LIKE A GODDESS SPINNING THE WORLD INTO EXISTENCE

  • This is absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing. It speaks to me on a different level, I feel like I've been apart of this. This is absolutely hauntingly amazing. It's basically like traveling back through time.

  • even though i don't know what the little boy is sayin he is a very good singer and i wish i could dance like her

  • i love justice and equality but i hate socialism. because when a society become more 'social' they forget their culture, tradition and religion..

i m not racist, i m not muslim or chistian. but i love this natural life, this life with some rituals of people. this girl love her dance, this boy love singing. they know how to live. but we?

this big cities, big churchs and mosques tells us about how we must live? where is nature? where is REAL LİFE?

  • @TheSeattlim - I'm from ex-socialist country and all our culture, tradition and religion was well preserved, better than nowadays when we're in capitalism. People used to respect eachother and otrher forms of living. So, I disagree with you about forgetting culture etc.

  • @Uberboy07 That would be the great Tony Gatliff; a French Roma

  • wow this is beautiful. ^^

  • o an look at roma videos u will see no indians y b coz day r guyjos or not r ppl n from day 1 n in fact all romas i know say indinas r bad lock

  • are they gypsy

  • @MrRodeodrive

These people are how gypsies would have looked in their origin.

After migrating towards Europe through Central Asia, Roma have mixed with other groups, but their DNA still shows they originated from India. For instance, paternal haplogroup H is found high in Romani males, but is non-existent in Europeans. H originated in India and is mainly found in South Asians.

  • @MrRodeodrive so u will know i am a roma he is a guyjo or not 1 of us n he do not know im or r ppl the roma fact r origin go back 2 bc n not in or from india n not 1 of the ppl in vdo is a roma bot all indians so call gypsys n he do not know it can you c the bullshit now

  • Ltacho Drom (Boa Viagem)

  • Bless her, I wish that I could do turns like that! Perfection!

  • wow! those kids are so talented! thanks for the video!

  • Those swirls at 1:00 are AMAZING

  • India has so many cultures, and so many different tribes with their own dress, language, music, traditions and dance. You must go there once in your life and experience India.

I'm Canadian born with parents from punjab, and everytime I go india, I never want to leave. It's like a totally different world. For the first time you feel wild and free.

  • @xxxJezebelxxx ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh????

  • Its from a film called Latcho Drom

  • @DrPMF wrote "Its from a film called Latcho Drom"

Yes. I think it means "safe journey" or something similar. If you appreciate this clip, you should seriously try to watch the movie. DVD's that I found online only work on a foreign type machine (doesn't work in U.S.), so I found a way to watch online through a website called VEOH. It's about the music at the heart of the Romani cultures.

You don't have to understand languages to appreciate this film. WATCH IT!!

  • Awesome Maxxxxxxxxxx.....

Master peace .... even though I didn't get a single word but music was too good to be explained in words.... and dance was undoubtedly amazing...

Hats Off to both the young guns of India

  • this

    was

    amazig!!!!

  • racist

    jerk.

  • omg..amazing

  • !beautiful video, beautiful dance!

  • woah.... LAAaaAAaAAAaa. How does one come about making such euphonious sounds with a mortal's voice?

  • ...How does she not get dizzy....I'm dizzy from just watching her

  • its from these indian people that world civilisation rose.....its the same reason when all other races have forgotten their cultures, their traditions...indians still hold on to their 5000years old customs. Simply amazing when islam brutalised arabia, north africa, south east asia, eastern europe, the only land to RESIST ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY was the oldest civilisation on earth..the indians.Yes i know this is aint about religon and race.but understand what these ppl went thru to hold on 2it.

  • @TheDharmaArmyofASIA YEs but most people in india know nothing about the vedic culture Nor do they practice it Fully. IT is only for entertainment value nowadays thats all.

  • @subroto81

You make stupid argument. Why then India is land of vedic culture if poeple do not practice it. You are conflicting your self. You would not be talking about vedic culture if it did not survived and practiced in India. You are typical western thinking.

Religious and Marrage cemonoes are done in Sankrit and followed vedic rules.

Vedic culture is well and alive and practiced.

  • @savita1926 Not really. Yes vedic culture is practiced in india today but a very DILUTED version of it. True vedic culture encourages one to meditate 6-7 hours a day, NOw how many mordern hindus meditate 6-7 hours a day?????????

Having marriage ceremonies in sanskrit is good but it is only 1% of vedic culture there is so much more. In vedic culture we are supposed to attain enlightenment!!!! ..not just sadhus and monks but everyone..how many hindus do that??? VEry very few.

  • @subroto81

Well that is your view on this and I can not argue on that. But one thing, India is the only country with vedic culture parcticed now. If you go outside of India there is only in academic area where they discuss vedic stuff. You are being hard on India and may be you are angry.

Also time has changed and whole world has changed.Go to China, Chinese culture also the most Bueityfull and more then 5000 years older and it is slowly dying due to globalization. World is changing.

  • @savita1926 I am being hard on mordern india, ancient india and mordern india are two totally totally diffrenet things. The culture and the mentality are totally different ONLY the location is the same thats all.

  • @TheDharmaArmyofASIA just shut up you idiot, if islam didn't come to india then the taj mhal would not exist, muslims were the ones who constructed the taj mahal and they enriched indians rich culture, do your research, idiot, india would be a different place if islam did not reach it.

  • @ADIMM0 Muslims did many wonders, especially in terms of architecture. Like they did for Spain and Spanish culture. But, that's not dispose of the fact that while Muslim-Arabs spiced-up conquered lands they also destroyed cultures, religions and languages. The Taj Mhal is a structure- but not humanity. I'm glad that India got to retain it's language, religion and diverse cultures and customs- even the bad ones.

  • @GamerNetworks But the islamic dome for example was taken from the pre-islamic persian dome, the islamic garden was taken form the roman garden....so the muslims thmselves copied a lot of things from the non-believers cuture and religion. I am also glad the muslims got to retain and take credit for the things they stole and copied from the kaffirs.

  • @GamerNetworks But the pre-slamic cultures did even better wonders than the muslims, besides muslims copied a lot of ideas from their non-muslim ancestors.. The so called islamic dome was Persian(non-muslim) and their garden was copied from the romans.

  • @shubroto81 muslims consists of different racial and ethnic groups that profess islam. when you said muslims, you mean the arabs, don't you?

  • @oowen2784 Well yes mostly arabs, but even in countries like afghanistan and pakistan, they use a lot of their pre-islamic culture which they claim as their own.

  • @TheDharmaArmyofASIA So who built the Taj Mahal again?...

  • gorgeous. schoen. sehr schoen

    ursula

  • I will someday go back to that magic land...sigh.

  • the movie is called 'Latcho Drom' by Tony Gatlif

  • i like to know the movie name? pls if some one know?

  • hmm.. thats y belly dance was first inspired by these indian gypsies..spectacular!!

  • @H1703 very nice................................

  • Wow...makes me proud to know my family descended from a gypsy line.Man the dancing, and the singing, and the music...so different, and beautiful!

  • I love it!

    Amazinggggggg

  • A beautiful, colourful, journey through Gatlif's brilliant film...

  • Beautiful! Experience the diversity of culture on this planet so beautiful, live music! Viva dance! Viva Gypsies from all over the world! Viva us who are here without prejudices and open to new cultures, live life! 5 stars!

  • i am a real indian gypsy in new jersey, god bless yous all,

  • @DeniselGramelick Shhh, don't mention you're not white on the internet. Otherwise you might get killed.

  • there is too much to say which is obvious for the reason im jeleous i cant belive the world has people like this they are beautiful exotic with everything beautiful and dont even relize it because beautiful is there culture! 5 stars i cant belive they legit live there life like a princess everyday dancing!=)

  • @xsunsetmeadow93x Culture is definitely very beautiful but life isn't easy like princess's unfortunately. They live a hard life, if u watch the video u will c a few of their struggles. This is their bread n butter.

  • I don;t know what to say about this people.

  • loved it!!!

  • Sooo beautiful! Thank You. Bless

  • is this a movie?it looks like a movie

  • yes, it is from latcho drom! (tony gatlif). it is a movie about the gypsies from India to Spain :) there is no dialogue in it, it resembles a documentary actually.

  • how old may be these children? any way that is GREAT!

  • i stumbled upon this clip accidently and gosh thats breath-taking. i dont understand a word of what the boy was singing but i am sure its something hauntingly beautiful just as his voice is. And the girls dance is absolutely magical!

  • @Vajeea

the movie is called LATCHO DROM very nice movie it show the roma ppl all over the world.. these r the indians from the north ... we all speak diffrent dielects

  • @Vajeea I fully agree with you..magic

  • @Vajeea I think he is singing a wedding song praising the groom. Banasa kesariyo hazaari

  • @nworb thanks for the info! i keep coming back to listen to this enchanting piece of music! and i repeatidly listen to it without getting bored! so there ought to be some kind of magic in his voice! their life wouldn't be easy i guess..but then whose life is easy? we all face some kind of hardships in one way or the other but these people know how to make their life beautiful by colours of their dresses and their dance and music!

  • @Vajeea My thoughts, as well. This young girl bursts out from behind the tree, will all the joy & promise of youth. Soon she may be like the women there, cutting wood & grinding grain but for now, life is a joyous dance.

  • @Vajeea well thank god for the strenght of the indian people who rejected islam and defended their custom their faith...during the islamic barbarity.

  • @TheDharmaArmyofASIA

Well lots of Gypsy were taken to central Asia by Islamic inavder and they were percecuted. They made it all the way to europe and have their own unique culture.

Also Europian wondered who are these people. One Documentry showed that Gypsy entertained in Royal Palaces in Europe and played important part in entertainment. Also this is evident in Central Asia. Thier migration route was from central Asia to Europe.

  • @Vajeea Nais tuka , thank you. This is our homeland and the original dances of our people

  • @Vajeea this clip is taken from a movie for "tony gatlif" the movie is called Latcho drom.... if u like this clip u must love the movie ... enjoy

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

  • 1:03 DAMN O_O

  • The faraway take of the lonely tree in the middle of a desert with a beautifully adorned young lady dancing is simply breathtaking. It takes you away from your daily working life to a much simpler form of life.....hauntingly beautiful imagery.
