US copyright laws are a joke anymore and software patents are just wrong.

Copyright should only last 21 years that's it because normal patents only last that long.

Now software patents are just lame since software was perfectly protected by copyright and have hurt innovation.

lets say i would on my own make my own version of Microsoft windows in a steal bunker whit out even ever locking at the system from Microsoft i would not be allowed to sell it why because of patents Microsoft own on this system.

Now lets look at cars what would happen if i patented the steering wheel how many car factory's would er be today ? ( i guess many from 1 company ).

so don't blame copyright blame patents, copyright can be worked past by make a something like it patents can not.

Your argumentation is limping.

You get patents for a limited time. A number of requirements has to be fulfilled, one is development height, another is novelty.

The basics of patents are that; by sharing your knowledge with all other companies you get in return a head start of up to 20 (30 in some cases) years.

For example, the airbag was patented in the 50s. It had innovation height, it was new technology, it had industrial use. During the time span 50-70 that meant that all car manufacturers who wanted this thing had to license it, developing their own patents for similar inventions.

The big problem with copyright is that it ends 70 years after the author died. A copyright of maximum 20 years from date of publishing would make far much more sense to me.
