  • I had that problem on my Thundercat -93, and this helped me solve it, Thank You!

  • Glad to help. I also rewind Cat 1990's Stators.

  • not shure if this is right,black/redtoblack/white 144ohms and black/red tored/white 16ohms not even close to the specs you gave

  • You have an "old style" 3 prong plug coil/set up. You specs are 145 and 16. Your stator is testing good.

  • How do I contact you about info on getting a stator?

  • You can send me a message through my youtube account.

  • Hey Blaine great video, the stator on my 95 zrt 800 tests at 23 on the small coil and 650 on the larger one and around 675 in series, do you think this will cause it not to start?? I have no spark and have eliminated the kill switches like you sugested in the other video. Do you have a website to get my stator repaired?

  • Should be 25, 450 and 500 ohms. The 650 ohms on your primary coil usually means there is some sort of ground/short condition going on with it. When your primary or "low"side coil is effected it effects the starting of the sled and all rpms up to about 7000-7500 or so. So, bottom line yes, I believe that your primary coil has failed and it is the cause of your no-spark issue. You can always send me an e-mail and I can respond with contact/shipping/cost answers. Thank you.

  • Outstanding Videos.. Really appreciate the help!

I have a 99 ski doo mach 1 (700) Any idea what the specs are for the stator? I see something in the manual for a trigger coil. Is that the same as the stator? Thank you...

  • I really don't know for sure. The trigger coil is not the same as the trigger. Go to my other video "How to check a trigger coil" and I explain what it is and how to check it. It may not be the exact same as the Cat, but it should be very similar. I do have a stator a guy gave me off a running late 90's triple ski-doo. I measured it and got: White/ to black/red 4 ohms. White to green 4 ohms. Green to black/red 34 ohms.

  • thanks alot blaine ill test them and see what i got

  • Verify that it was the 3 prong tester. They did also use a 4 prong plug on some of the 580's....if it is a 4 prong the plugs/connector is the same as the one in my video and your specs are still 45ohms and 450ohms. Test it the same way as the one in the video if it is a 4 prong.

  • i have a 96 ZR 580 efi i just lost spark on the trail this week end do you know what wires and resistance are on its stator to check thanks alot

  • I belive that you have the 3 prong connector and here are your specs:

    white to green 450 ohms

    white to black 45 ohms

    Black to green 490-500 ohms

  • i have a 79 yamaha gs 340 and its only running on the right cylinder. plugs are good and I assume the plug cap is good too. There is a weak spark in the left cylinder. The other day it ran fine and went like hell but then i went to start it again and the same shit happened, one cylinder. how do i fix this, replace the ignition coil? thanks

  • I am not familiar with your specific sled but the principles should be the same. Make sure the plug and wire are good on that side. Most (but not all especially Polaris) 2 stroke sleds you can just swap wires back and forth. Try swapping plug wires and see if it follows the plug or the wire. There are specs for plug caps. Most guys unsrew the plug cap, trim a 1/2 inch off and screw the cap back on. SOunds like either bad wire/cap connection, spark plug, coil, bad ground or possibly stator.

  • 1998 zl 500 only tested 415 on white to green and nothing on either of the others. which coil in the stator runs the headlights? i lost all spark when we were jumping or really being rough. Does it wreck stators when jaring the sled around a lot? i need help

  • Here are your specs:

    Black/Red to White (495 ohms)

Black/Red to Teal Green (45 ohms)

White to Teal Green (450 ohms)

The large primary coil is dying and the smaller high speed coil is dead. The larger gauge wire that is wrapped around the posts that are separate from the 2 ignition coils power your headlights. Jarring the sled shouldnt affect the stator much. More than likely your stator was going bad and the vibration from jumping helped to hurry the process.

  • WHERE DO I SEND MY CHECK ?? THIS IS GREAT

  • PM me and I can give you additonal shipping and stator rewind rate info.
