  • catch and release can be fatal to a fish as well. large bodies of water contain many different levels of temperatures. if the fish is exposed to a higher or even a lower temp. that it is use to, it could cause shock and kill it. fishermen know this. a fish that large needed to be caught.

  • damn tree huggers

  • if thats real fuck the dumass loser who caught it

  • Shortest viedo I every watch

  • pussy ass fish!! FAKE!!! CLEARLY!!!

    midget in costumee!!!!!!!!

  • pussy ass fish!!

  • huge aligator gar thats nice man

  • Giant carp are sweet to shoot, but I'll never have the heart to kill a quality fish like that. That's just low standards.

  • echt gutes video bin ne süße und ganz lieb wer will mit mia schnacken

  • did you catch this in a lake or ocean?

  • An alligator gar that size could kill a full grown man easily!

  • not even close to world record. try the IGFA. they know.

  • wow GREAT VIDEO!

  • Its a shame that the animal was killed. It takes a couple of decade for those fish to grow to that size.

I have nothing against bow-fishing or fishing in general, but fish of that size have become all but non-existant in American waterways lately.

Try catch and release. You can take a good picture to keep AND the fish can live to be admired by another lucky fisherman to do the same.

  • @originaldriver practice c.p.r. catch/photo/relese :)

  • @originaldriver they probably ate him....but yes catch and release is good not only that....IF they did eat that fish...idk if it would be good for a fish that size...

  • @matt31602 A fish that old isnt worth eating. The most youll end up with is a nasty meal. More than likely, it was probably stuffed and mounted. Again, the loss of a magnificant and increasingly harder to find variety of the animal.

Smaller fish like bass, pearch, bream, crappie make much better eating.

  • @originaldriver i hear ya....but some people are dumb and still eat it...i would have released it....now all i do is catch the fish for the fight and then release them again...but i always wanted to go hunting...thats my next step...

  • @originaldriver man i sure feel the same way but if u had a possible world record and ur name could be on that list, might change ur mind for just that 1 fish. i think something that size has more then a couple of decades on it id say sumthing in the 40-50 year range

  • @drain1667 North American "fresh-water" Fish of that size are all but gone in the wild. I cant say that I value a "bragging title" over the existance of these monsterous creatures.

    .

I think that its cool that water-monsters like these even exist. Whats the point of killing one for a title. Then NO-ONE can ever see it alive again.

    .

Catch and release, then someone else can have the thrill of a lifetime catching a real-life monster. Wouldnt you prefere that instead?

  • @originaldriver It's a disgrace.

  • too bad teh fish was killed- while teh phot yis nice as a trophy ( for shwoing off ) thsi huge fish is somewhat unique in our over crowded/overpolluted/overfieshed world. better lo leave it . more younger fish in a couple of years....

  • that is a real picture, how ever this one is only about 8ft

in 1910 someone caught one that was 10ft and early 1900's there were 2 caught, one measureing 14ft and one measuring 17ft

  • is it real?

  • nice

  • wow that was gay

  • a gar that size could be a maneater!

  • what is the best bait fr gars???

  • there is no one certain bait to get gars to bite..They eat anything, dead or alive. I prefer to use spinner lures, they seem to attract them a bit more. Make sure to use a size that can handle the bite, you'll also want to use a liter..good luck

  • leader?

  • im gunna take it back for saying it on the internet but stome makes some lure's called wild eye. i dont fish gar but for nothern pike they just love the 4' perch there bout six bucks at wally mart or crappy tire

  • i gaught a 12 footer last night

  • Comment removed

  • yea right

  • just caught a 7 footer today...no joke

  • thats not even close to the world record the world record is in laredo tx the guy caught a4-5 meter aligator gar in rio bravo

  • its about 4 meter that one dud. look it up on a 2 meter measure thing..

  • lmao

  • Idk WHAT kind of gar it is. They are ALL creepy and scary lol. I used to think they were SUPER SUPER SUPER small, and I was STILL scared lol. Now I'm terrified...I'll probly NEVER EVER EVER EVER swim anywhere but a pool again! lol *Tell me that does n ot look frekin' scary!*

  • I never swam in rivers cuz I was afraid of snapping turtles. Then I find out about 150 pound gator snapping turtles. Now I see this 8 foot 300lb Monster Gator Gar that can bite guys' heads off.......now I really know I'll never go swimming in rivers!!!!!!!! BTW, I'm a 6ft1 240lb guy.

  • well then ur a pussy.

  • it takes one to know one. go get your head bit off by a gar then....i guess it would not matter..... you never had a functioning brain in the first place.

  • Few years ago I was in a river and the gar fish where all over even jumping of the water. I was more scared of all the little crabs that where all over.

  • The video of them bowfishin and landed this is on the website in the pic. The perspective on the pic makes it look a lot bigger but its still huge in their video. There using the camera perspective. The fish is closer than they are... still a monster fish.

  • No I am sorry we do have them in Jacksonville. They may not be native but they are hear and they are huge.

  • Whats up with the stupid porn music clip? Thats fuck'n retarted. Music clip for 6 seconds ?

  • thats the biggest pike ive ever sawed!

in the uk we have pike who are only as big as my penis(8inches to 2foot long)

  • dude thats an alligator gar not a pike

  • we have them everywhere just blocks away in Chalmette which is right next to New Orleans they are covering the canals also regular gars i have seen huge ones

  • so a gar

  • nice catch but i LOL'd at that gay ass music in the back ground lololol OM NOM NOM NOM NOM

  • im afraid we have em bigger in jacksonville florida....

  • Their not native to Jacksonville, Florida. You must be thinking of alligators not alligator gar fish. The nearest location to you where there are alligator gar is in the Escambia River in Florida and they're probably very rare in that river !

  • no look some people are retarted and released loads of em iv seen quite a few 150+ around.

  • nice carp

  • not a carp its a gar

  • haha, dumbass

  • I know its not a carp, and i looked it up in a book and found out its not a gar either..... I was a strange genetic freak that cross-bred with your mom to form a hideous mutant that resembles a fish but it still retained the facial features of your mom.

  • @gands1102 Haha! good one!

  • @gands1102 - That's biologically impossible. The chromosomes would not match between someone's mother and the fish mutant. So maybe you're talking about yourself in terms of mutations. xD

  • They are gonna call it CHSrocketFansMomadon. And what is strange is that it can live on its own shit for weeks. It inherited that from you know who.

  • Dude, it's deffinitely an allgator gar

  • I know its a gar man, I was just being sarcastic when i said its a carp. Some people just dont have a sense of humor. I have been takin gar off my trotline for 20 years now. No more alligator gar here in kansas though, they have been wiped out. Last time i seen one was 12 years ago.

  • Then come to tuttle by manhattan they are all over the place

  • You sure they are not longnose gar? They get pretty big too.

  • now that you mention it, it might be long nose not really for sure I usually go out to milford as it seems to have a little better fishing

  • Its an alligator gar you can tell by its bill

  • Its a large fish! Are you sure its the world record? I don't think gar live in salt water.

  • alligator gar can stand salinity

they can be found in sabine lake in texas and i have seen them caught in galveston

    by a green light

  • wow cool i wish i could land one that big!

  • LOL whats with break machine street dance song in the background lol

  • Video SUCKS!!! You could have just posted a picture of this on the net instead of wasting UTUBE space.

  • nice, but they get a lot bigger than that.

  • dude they dnt get much bigga than tht n if they did u ant cin one tht is a world record

  • imagine that in ur fish tank...

  • "an dey a lot bugga than dat" WTF... sorry mate, but its a gar

  • I'm pretty sure it is. It has the same tail, fin and head shape for a gar.

  • yeah thats a gar and i dont know where it says its not in a lake or a river...pretty sure thats not an offshore boat...boy

  • im not sure but i think there are a few type of gar that live in salt water.

  • hey, jwingman is right!

  • whats that? ;o

  • thats not a gar. and u cant catch gars in the ocean

  • Dude, it's an alligator gar and they are not salt water fish. I've caught many in my day. That is a huge one. The biggest on I've seen was about 6 feet long. It was dead, washed up on the bank of Lake Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.

  • all fish as long as there alive keep growing same with snakes and there very teritorial

  • im going today to get a aligaotr (about 4 inches) and a arowana (about 5 inches) from a pet store. do they get along in a tank? ( i have a 125 gal with 2 4 inch long oscars and a baby knife fish. i know they wont be able to live in a 125 forever but for now will they get along?

  • I had a gar for years. They only get as big as the tank will allow. Don't know how they do it but in a 24 inch tank the gar will only get to be about 4 to 6 inches long. I had a 500 gallon tank for my gar he was about 19 inches long. An arowana and a gar will eat every fish small enough to fit in their mouth. And will eventually kill anything too large to eat. At least that is what I have found.

  • the only reason they don't grow any more is because they are trapped into a small box with no room to swim or grow. no aniumal can change it's genetics based upon what type of container they are put in. They are stunted and suffering by being housed in too small of a tank

  • One 19 inch fish in a 500 gallon tank is boxed in!!? Suffering? Complete bull. You have no idea what you are talking about. If you put a young Gar in any size tank they will only grow to a certain size, depending on the size of the tank. Its not changing the Gar's genetics. From what I have read recently this is natural to Alligator Gar. In the wild this is an adaptation for new populations in times of drought, when river or pond sizes decrease.

  • O.o

  • what name of song ?

  • WOW!!!!! That is a huge alligator gar!!!

  • nice catfish

  • gosh i heard that garfish will never stop growing they have no limit xD

  • These are the faqs on this big ass gar: Killed with a bow!

This was killed on Lake Sam Rayburn, Texas. It is a pending Sam Rayburn Lake Record and BAA World Record Alligator Gar...8'2", 244.5 lbs. and 44.75" girth.

  • well i hope they got it with a bow. what would you do with it alive in the boat? lol

  • lol i see those little 5 inch thing down at the bay where i live..didnt know they got that big!

  • They actually are USUALLY between 6 and 12 feet long. The ones you see are most likely very little babies. Also, be careful if you live near them, they will attack you if you enter their territory while swimming and they have sharp teeth as thick as pencils.

  • gay!!!!!

  • photo shoped

  • Obviously a half alligator n half fish

  • why do people put pictures on U-tube?

  • sweet fish i caught a gar almost as big as that

  • If that thing was on the end of my pole, I'd probably start crying.

  • lol i am thirteen and that happened to me when i was fishing in mississippi with another kid my age and my pole started to bob so i thought it was a crab so i started to reel in and it was like a six foot gator gar...i almost crapped myself.

  • what the hells a gar?

  • oh my lanta..;I

  • Dear God!

  • Isn't that just the worlds largest fish with an aligators head stuck on the top?

  • Thank you...haha

  • my friend snagged a 7ft 200 lbs gar when he was like 14 and he also got another 200 pound gar a couple years later, this was about 4 years ago

  • I saw one in Lake Lewisville several years back that was about this big, near Pier 121 marina. I was Crappie fishing at a boat slip and it cruised through the stall about 2ft down. I thought it was a real alligator for a second! They are out there, but they dont get that big making themselves known. The ones this big are exceptionally smart and very good at keeping hidden.

  • tahts big enough to maek me its bitch.... but y is there like a bagillino times 89gazilion random shit in teh description? plz someoen tell me im very curiuos y i see hannah monatannah in there -.-

  • thATS A BIG FUCKING GAR

  • actually the world record gar was a 10ft. monster thats about 8

  • thats a big gar but its not the biggest

  • i live in oklahoma and heard they caught that gar in broken bow,OK

  • That's unreal? I'd Freak. LMAO!

  • do those attack ppl

  • its uncommon, but it happens

  • they attack anything that moves and probably some stuff that doesn't move

  • LMFAO at the music.

  • With a little research I found that this fish weighed 327 lbs and was caught in Oklahoma. If caught on Rod and Reel this would be a new world record.

  • that gar weighed 245 lbs and was taken from lake Sam Rayburn Texas

  • Thank you for the correction. I also found out that it was taken with bow and arrow.

"This monster gar was caught while bowfishing the backwaters of Sam Rayburn Reservoir near Lufkin, Texas by Keith Riehn and Robin Parks of Missouri on August 4, 2005. All totaled, the monster Texas alligator gar was slightly more than 8 feet, 2 inches in length, weighed 244.5 pounds, and measured 44.75 inches in girth - NOT the 327 pounds as noted in the second photo."

  • yes sir !!!! that is definately a monster.. i personally have taken a 96 lb "GATOR GAR" out of the trinity river along with several smaller ones and some rather large needlenose gar up to about 45lbs..as far as the unrestricted world record alligator gar though i believe was a 302 lb monster taken from the nueces river in south / central texas on a trotline in the early 50's.. dont know where they got the 327 lb from either...

  • wow that would suck if that think jumped and got a hold of your arm or hand

  • I thought I had seen some big gar...

    That's a monster

  • I used to have one a a pet..one day it got too big and jumped out of the tank, taking with it the filter and fluorescent light.Needless to say it died.

  • That is a common problem with gar in the aquarium. They are air breathers and will "bump" the top the most secured tanks. They will eventuallyt escape from tank that is not secure.

Interestingly, gar are very ancient forms of fish and are very adept at moving on land. I found mine in the opposite room!

  • i pitty the foo

  • ?!?!?!

  • that is one huge ass gar

  • thats it?

  • Did you not read the "gar" at the end?

An "Alligator gar" is a primitive ray-finned fish. It has alligator-like teeth and snout which gives it its name.

    Research before you comment.

  • wow, bet that was hard to get on the boat

  • That music is horrible!

  • whats the song called

  • I was surprised that they used that song. Man that song goes back to the early days of break dancing. The song is by Break Machine and it's called "Street Dance." Someone actually awhile back posted the video for it here on You Tube. You should check it out.

  • that would so go on my wall

  • what is the best way to catch a gar?

  • live perch suspended under a float.. pretty much anywhere in the length of the trinity river...some people like using big ass treble hooks .. i use a sharp octopus style (gamakatsu).. u AINT getting a treble hook out for release...

  • OR ANY KIND OF ROUGH FISH ...like a live carp or small mouth buffalo or a big ass gizzardshad... i have cleaned 60 lb gator gars and found whole 8lb bluecatfish in their stomachs...

  • wow cause i live in florida the gars here are nowhere near that size but they are pretty nice too the closest thing to that are monster tarpons

  • i'm pretty sure their rsange extends to northern florida...we get tarpon here in the summer time infact while heading out of galveston last week we saw some huge tarpon jumping about 7 miles off the beach.. find the glass/rain minnows and you will find the tarpon in texas

  • 1 time, at lake mathis in texas. i saw what i thought was the biggest gar ever. it was about 6ft. this thing is huge, its scary to know these thign r n the same waters that we ski and swim in.

  • THANKS MAN

  • thats not an aligator

  • hi guys i got a question is that legal to take a garfish/garpike or whatever its called from the fishing spot ?? I caught some gars last time on Illinois River but i release all of them because i didnt even know what fish it is... I'm going fishing tonight and i just wanted to show one to my dad because he probobly never saw fish like this... Do you guys know anything about this?? thanks;)

  • hey elokurwaelo......sure it is perfectly legal to catch and keep any gar..this is a 245 lb alligator gar from lake sam rayburn.texas it's the state record for bowfishing

  • My grandad used to have a twelve foot john boat. He and my dad used to fish with it alot down on an oxbow in Arkansas off the Mississippi River. One day it was flooded, and the water was pouring through the levee from the river to the lake. They were catching bass on spinnerbaits where the water was coming through, when something latched onto my dads lure.

turns out it was an alligator gar as long as the boat. My grandad beat its head with a paddle but the paddle broke. So they shot it. 267lb

  • nice nintendo music.

  • this is real, i used to live in del rio and would see them dead off the side of the hwy after fisherman caught them. Heads were cut from the bodies with huge teeth. they were usually 7 or more feet with scales about two inches long.

  • ive seen bigger

  • k...people are complaining because fisherman kill the fish if it's a world record and not take a pic instead. let me explain why....HELLO... IT'S A WORLD RECORD. have u ever tried to take a picture of big foot and tell your friends it's real. I have had pics of a large cat, almost a cougar sized cat on a trail cam in Indiana, USA. DNR said I would have to kill it in order for them to believe me. even though u could clearly see it's size...don't know what it was doin in indiana but... savvy?

  • hey dkllr... them mountain lions are turning up everywhwere...hell they were native to all of the lower 48 at one time... the jaguar was widespread at one time and they are making their way back into south texas and arizona..anyways there was a 260 lb puma hit by a car two weeks ago in central/west texas..TWO HUNDRED SIXTY POUNDZZZZZZAH!!!! ALOT of armchair biologist have written them off from any where east of the missisippi.. but the facts say different...

  • if it wanted too than yeah you're in serious trouble..i dont think there is a documented case of a gar attacking a human !!!!!!it' got the teeth of a barracuda.. i used to wadefish an old oxbow lake by my house.and therre was a couple of these in there and they weould swim right up to your waiste/groin area and just sit there and ofcorse we would not move until thery left.. it happened a few times before we started fishing from the bank..

  • that would make me fish from shore. the first time. those THINGS have nasty teeth.

  • definately a monster gator gar...definately not the world record(possibly bowfishing record).. but the unrestricted world record came from south texas in 1951 out of the nueces river it weighed 302lbs..caught on a trotline...

  • thats a fucking alien!!!!

    not a gar

    LOL

  • fake alagator gars have skinny noses not big ones

  • i was jet skiing in a buoy and fell off and was swimming to my jet ski and slap one that was easily four feet long scarred the shit out of me and that was just a buoy one i bet its real

  • what the hell makes it fake dumb ass...its real i was fisihing in a canal in texas and caught a 136 pound one it was bout 7 feet long

  • either fake or stupid or both.

  • I hope they released it. Some people are so stupid. Why would they celebrate a world record by killing it and ending such a special thing's life?

  • they got it on the boat so they could get a picture you fucking hippies.

  • I would die if I seen that in the water

  • nice video...lol...

  • Im a diehard "big fish" fisherman, and I personally release all my big fish. I don't have a problem with people harvesting natural resources as long as it's going to be eaten or used in some nessecary fashion. I do have a big problem with people that bowhunt large aligator gar for fun and just throw the fish away to rot day after day. To me, that is the definition of ignorance, and not understanding your role in the environment.

  • hell ya u tell em man if you aint gonna eat it throw it back also you dont have to kill a monster fish to have it mounted. lots of taxadermy shops can make a replica from pictures an mesurements so throw'em back folk's

  • Hey man, it's nice to know theres some other people out there that actually care about these sort of things.

  • that's cool just kill something that's been on the earth longer than you fuck face

  • what a bunch of douchebags...its big so lets catch and kill it, hope a shark takes out these fags

  • Well they would have to travel to saltwater to do that you tree hugging hippie.

I wouldn't want that thing alive in the boat with me.. thats for sure. Stick your head in its mouth you douche.
