Thank you VERY much for uploading this. This is one of my favourite UFO songs. A better quality of this used to be up here years ago, but is gone now. Do you have it in better quality? If not, it doesn't matter, just glad someone uploaded this again.
The chapman era is every bit as classic as the schenker stuff imop. In fact it stands out even more as it remains classic rock at a time when everything was shifting to cheesy metal (even msg to an extent). But this is far from the best stuff from that era, I think this album was a huge fall off from the previous three.
I was part of the second party, that was me...Signed away my life...really couln't see. ....You keep the full deck from me, .... damn I can't keep up.... but you'll be the one to pay, you know every dog has his day!!
I so want this WHOLE show on DVD remastered in HD with 5.1 surround. DAMMIT, why is there no justice for UFO or their ardent fans??!? P. Chapman said that either a yellow or white Bich guitar he merely borrowed, was not actually his
could you tell me where this comes from ..im tryin to get a copy of the video or tv programme information? or if you have on video i would love to trade...
@metalgodzz With better audio and visuals, I hear ya, I got the German TV 1980 one on tape and that's it. I'd like for them to follow up the true story this is based on and get the lyrics for it as well.
I'm a huge UFO fan but I do think Pete Way is a total poser and not that great of a bass player. It's funny that the one time he wasn't in the band they go and get just about the best player in the world. This is a very cool vid.
Pete Way has never claimed to be a great bass player but his style fitted the band and he was certainly a brilliant showman. Billy Sheehan was a virtuoso but like a fish out of water in this band.
@Philmacrakken Pete, rest his soul, has been a survivor of much abuse, and bad luck, I hope he pulls through but not likely I think. Sad really. He did get other offers himself.
Great band, too bad they were drunk most of the time and ruined a lot of the shows from not playing very well on tour. Other then that they were amazing, great songs. I just wish they would have not been so stoned and drunk cause you can here that drag, and sloppiness in their playing.
@diamonddust22 It's hard to say so, but it wasn't ALWAYS the case, evidenced with SITN. I'd say even on the last tour when I saw them, Phil was rambling between songs, but God Bless him anyway!! We love him. I got my pic taken with him, a thrill, got my hat signed by the band members
Well, I came back on here to learn of how Pete Way is doing, hoping some fans can enlighten us, over in the USA we don't get to see ole Pete much! DAMN
Lights Out and No Heavy Petting were the hottest records done at the height of their career! Around the same time the Scorpions were doing great with ULI and M.Schenker! Those were great times. I do have to say though, Pete Way was and is the coolest most inovative bassist that was an inspiration even for Billy S. The outfit, the Bass on the ground, he stole the show! The other guys don't move much! Total respect for PETE WAY and early UFO! Everthing else Pales!
great band...best 80's records the wild, the willing and the innocent & mechanix...phil mogg looks like the mother on the 70's tv show...one day at a time...in this video.
blinded by a lie is a great cut, but..the MAKING CONTACT cd..overall..is only average.
TWTWATI is by far the best UFO album. Unfortunately, MECHANIX was not so rocky, too much fuzzy keyboards, the sound changed a lot, songs are 2 poppy. At MAKING CONTACT the group sounds like a big band not like a rock band. Thats why it failed even though contains some very good cuts. They should have rely more on Tonkas guitar not keyboards. There is a syrupous background organ chord in almost every song... Andy changed his drum kit before recording this album and drums do not sound good.
Went thru all three albums today to confirm it was realy so. Tonka is a great guitar player and song writer at TWTWATI Phil peaked as a singer - masterpiece!
I am a big UFO fan, the best era with the best songs and solo's was off course with Michael Schenker. I also have the albums with Paul Chapman. I think Paul Chapman fits better with UFO than Vinnie Moore. Schenker will never return to UFO, so I think it's a good idea to get rid of Moore and to get Paul Chapman back in the band.
Nothing against Vinnie Moore, he's a virtuoso player and all ...but his style is too neoclassical shredder type; I don't like his feel yeah Paul Chapman was a better fit because he had that raw soulful hard rocking feel. But in terms of chops Moore sort of blows the doors off chapman..for what that's worth.
What tarnishes the Tonka years is this...UFO in the 80's were into excess and some of the shows were a bit....poor! Drunken performances etc, but they also played some of the best gigs of their career.
Mogg regards The Wild, The Willing as one of his fave UFO records. They have come close to reforming with Paul several times, but each time Schenker would decicide he was willing to allow UFO to work with him!!! Mogg...you missed some great oppos in the 90's...if only.
I met Paul and Billy Sheehan in a pub in Cardiff in 97. Great to see the two guyss again.
UFO with Schenker, Paul Chapman or Vinnie Moore are awesome.....
Making Contact was a awesome record. Tonka Chapman is an incredible player. You should here him play blues, rock n roll and country. Sadly by this time UFO were shattered, too much touring, too much other stuff....they needed time out.
That UFO DVD Too Hot To Handle, where everyone isn't that complimentary about the Tonka years was geared up to promote the pending Schenker reunion of 93/94. We all know UFO played bigger and made more accesable records with Paul Chapman. Hey, even MOGG sites..
That great uplifting ballad is the song 'You and Me' it's a story of love conquering all. I agree with you that this album was magic, It had the edge that was missing from the previous album Mechanix.
I just viewed the new Ufo Dvd talking about the history of the band and Malcolm Dome from the mag Kerrang ripping on the Chapman UFO years as do so many other critics and again I dont get it. The songs on Mechanix for instance rock I mean crank up "We Belong to the Night" on a kick ass unit and tell me this song along with "Dreaming" doesnt totally rock. My only complaint about some of the Chapman era stuff is there should have been more tunes on some of the recording to short ends way to fast!!
I'm with you; these are some of my all-time favorite songs and I can't understand why people bash them all the time... BTW, how is that DVD? Is there "new" footage or anything? I'm wondering if I should pick it up; I already have Too Hot To Handle.
No disrepect to the Schenker era but im still boggled as to why Paul never got the total 100% recognition he deserved while his time in UFO. Every Album these guys made from 1980 to Making Contact rocked. Paul has his sound as did Schenker and it was his cool signature that keeps me going back to those 4 albums time and time again and they sound as good now as they did then. 4 classics with UFO Thats something to be proud of Tonka!!
Amazing! LilTonka.....hope your dad is ok. He was a hero of mine back in the 80's. My whole guitar style is based around spending so much time listening to him.

Your dad was one of the most overlooked/under-respected guitarists in ufo...his history with ufo was amazing (and don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Schenker fan). I thought that the song writing with him was the best they ever did...I pull out the albums with him as often as I do any...and I own all of them...also the Waysted era with him was amazing!
