throw a 12v cummins in big dirty and video it you will get 1 billion views + or -1, plus it will chooch like a sumbictch. yeahh anyone who would own a 6.0 would chooch a breedin antler..
allways stay between 96 and 2011 fords never buy a 6.0l they suck serious dick 7.3l are alot better 87-2001 is the year when the 7.3l were discontinued
@TheRedneckCowboys Alright Mr. guy who thinks he knows shit. The 6.0 was not a piece of shit. Most of the ones that had problems were the ones that were chipped and had the piss beat out of them. If you put head studs, upgraded gaskets, an egr delete, and a upgraded oil cooler they are a hell of an engine. Also the 7.3 went until early 03....get your facts right!
@TheRedneckCowboys 7.3 Powerstroke was 95-03, 88-93 was the 7.3 IDI, 1994 was a junk Turbo IDI that was only produced 1 year. The 6.0L in 2003-mid 04 has the bulk of the problems, 05-07 6.0L trucks have less warranty claims than the 7.3 ever did, yes they like to chooch headgaskets, but bulletproof it once and they will run circles around any 7.3, Duramax or Cummins of era and go long ways. Boss has an 07 Lariat with 320km untouched. I work on diesels daily and the 6.0 is a great motor...
That sucks pug that you did that big job putting the bigger turbo unit in and now rip her all apart again. I am looking foward to hearing the train horns though.
@Silverado2010s Well some 6.0's are fine and some aren't. But the ones that aren't very good need the solution kit. Once you do the solution kit the truck will be fine.
Great vid Chris. dont forget the ratchet wrench on the running boards. lol. That is some Muther f*****g power train. Gives u a new perspective when driving it now.
@1puglife Yeah those ARP head studs work out to be about $25 dollars a piece (american) Thats pretty damned expensive eh. And you gotta torque those bad boys down to TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY FIVE FOOT POUNDS!!! HOLLY!! I gurantee you at 245 ft lbs the damned head gaskets aint gonna ever be a problem
You sound nervous, Pug. You've got your Ford tech buddy, a shop manual, plenty of tools, and best of all from what I can tell Gingy and Pants are nowhere in sight. You'll have Big Dirty back up to maximum awesomeness in no time!
@teseract lol they're not all like this, the newer trucks are nice trucks but they suck ass to work on and the 6.0L is notorious for problems, but the old body style trucks with the 7.3L are some of the best trucks you could ever own.
@7477238 why so you have an engine that pukes oil out and have to pull the motor to fix it our local machanic has 4 dodges with the cummins in them and they all have the same problem puking oil out the rear main seal
@jerryhowell9 Depends on vehicle i guess, Ive had 0 issues with my 84 ford ranger 2" BL its uses a steering box (not sure about big dirty's setup) and has no bind with the extension in the linkage.
@IceMistEclipse body lifts cause way to much problems such as the steering gets in a bind and a bunch other stuff they are cheap but cause lots of problems
your best friend during a tear down is going to be large ziplock bags, pull out all the bolts and label the bags.
and what the stink. you had to remove the entire cab to replace a headgasket? now i see why so many people just stick to using SBC's in just about any vehicle.
man doin all this you should do an egr delete while your at it. I kno you just fixed that shit but get rid of it. thats one of the main problems with these damn things. check out powerstroke help aswell. that guy only deals with these things and knows how to make em last
Hey pug, where are you getting your heads machined? were they expensive? i need to get a 4cyl 2L head done and ive heard horror story's of machine shops in and around London any help would be awesome thanks!
Pug, Nice to have some buddies at the Ford Dealership give ya a hand with this bro. don't worry man, it has been a know problem with the 6 ltr. sense they came out. But look at it this way, hopefully you have caught this problem in time that it hasn't really don't too much damage to the rest of the motor.
Good luck with the restoration of Big Dirty, Hims getting some lovins from ya, so its all good bro.
i would put a suspension lift in if any im not a big fan of body lifts and why would you want to lift it anyway then you need to get bigger tires witch fucks up your brakes its high enough as is i would just leave it
Pug . . . This is awesome! Pulling the body from the frame will give you the best opportunity to perform the “might as well” maintenance that would be rather daunting with it in place. Good Luck!
I hope you check the ball joints while your in there lol. I hope I never have to work on one of them, I think I'd puke. Way to much to take off. I hope it went back together for you ok.
Put some better insulation in the cab floor when u put it back together, also put some anti seize on those cab bolts cause ur going to need to do it again down the road. pologize !!
oh no Big Dirty is Dinked :( *cry* but lol when you were lifting the cab i thought Dirty would look Badass Jacked up that high :P that make them dodge POS scared even more YEA CHOOCH IT
looks like my old f150 i tore apart for the tranny that was the funest day we had taking the cab off with the skidloader cause we also tipped the skidloader over with just the cab. have fun pug.
Pug, I know you did the EGR delete but the website bulletproofdiesel has an article claiming the stock oil cooler can be the cause of the 6.0 headgasket issues. Maybe you should replace the stock one while you've got the whole thing in pieces. (unless you already have) pologize
