I like Ultraman better than Spectraman, but I like Spectraman intro song better than Ultraman intro song. Did not care fore Ultraman intro song to much. I use to get up at 6am on Saturday morning to watch Ultraman.
Man! I remember back in the 70s when i was a kid my buddies and I while living in New Jersey would watch this on channel 17. The station was based in Phillie but by turning to the VHF dial we where able to get it. Had to fiddle around with the antennas but we managed to get it. Fun days man! Fun old days. :-)
I honestly didn't know this even aired in the US. I'm totally surprised. I didn't think anything to do with Ultraman was released outside Japan. (No games, nothing.) What about Europe?
Some creatures in this and other related shows in the Ultra series influenced the creation of some Pokemon, because Pokemon creator Satoshi Tajiri used to enjoy watching this and Godzilla when he was young.
I can remember running home from school just to catch this show. Great stuff. A buddy gave me a dvd set of all these shows. I sat and watched em in one sitting and was amazed at how cheap it all looked. Still a great walk down memory lane.
ultraman could take godzilla no problem i always used to want to see a fight with those two but it never happend sadly but i know ultraman would have won
@Amonthered I have the DVD set of this show, and there is a monster that is Godzilla, made up to look diffrent, but you can tell it is really Godzilla,I will look through the DVD and let you know what episode it is
I believe this is the first time I saw this opening since 1975. I was a big Ultra Man fan at the time. Didn't know the last time I watch it I wouldn't see anything of it until nearly 40 yrs. later. If you can sit and think of it,you can find it on YouTube. Always great to revisit your childhood.
@Dablkwid0w2008 No, there was a co-production cartoon based on Ultraman called Ultraman: The Adventure Begins which features Ultraman USA but generally Ultraman is a Tokusatsu series (Kamen Rider, Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Lion Maru, ect.)
After foolishly and unfortunately watching other "Ultraman Opening Themes" I come across this one and am happy to hear the original and even found myself mouthing the words as my memory came back to me.Thank you.
Where can I see full episodes of THIS version online??? I saw a few of the later versions, but I want to see THIS version. {Season? Version? Company?}
I'd get up on Saturday morning grab my Mom's largest mixing bowl, fill it early to the brim with milk & Sugar Pops and park my butt in front of the T.V. at 6AM (when Ultra-man came on) until 12:noon, when the cartoons went off, then I burst out of my front door on a Sugar-Pop jet-propelled energy surge to conquer Saturday afternoon. (and get into some trouble...usually)
Holy Crap... what a flood of memories. Deep in my neurons the memory of this intro and the Ultra Man silhouette after the oozing title brew -- is still there -- its just now fused with my adult brain that recognizes how cheesy this is -BUT- the cheese is blending with the coolness that my primitive brain stem has locked in place and its whipping up a very strange sensation. In a very, very wierd way its giving me a unique flashback to how I felt as a kid and that is just freaky
(Whenever he fights a monster, the narrator states) "The warning light begins to blink. Should it stop completely it will mean that Ultraman will never rise again."
this was the stuff!! none of this i have to" take em to prison cause it's right" Dude was slice their asses to peices and leave Good ole Japanese violence for young violence prone americans! love it!
And the Science Patrol where decades ahead of their time because they were environmentally focused and conservation-centered, even if Ultraman's wrestling shook the earth a bit.
Just hearing this theme song triggers some chemical in my brain. Good times. We had a huge 19 inch color tv on a wood grain and brass-look tv stand with wheels...my 2 brothers and I would lie on the floor on our stomachs with our feet up in the air watching Ultra Man and The Space Giants every day after school. The activity afterward usually involved my brothers making me fix them pot pies or boil n bags while they wrestled on the floor till our parents got home from work. Good times...
Would anybody be interested in buying my complete Ultraman DVD Collection both volumes 1 and 2 with all 39 original episodes?!..The DVD's are in excellent condition and they are in their original box and covers and it was viewed only once!..They are practically brand new!...Asking $30 or best offer including S+H!...Let me know if interested...Thanks!
Every comment I can relate to, I used to wait after school to watch Ultraman, I used pencils as beta capsules, all these things I remember fondly from my childhood. This show was it as far as I am concerned.

Oh, the MELODY itself was too much for the Americans. In the Japanese song, there are so many wonderful phrases, simple yet somehow almost otherworldly, that are made completely bland here.
A rare case of melodic genius in Japanese popular music :)
I too was shocked@roytherude. I had no idea there were so many other Ultraman shows! But I canremember in the early 70's when the new "Light up" costumes came out, and I was Ultraman. There was a small hole with a bulb in it, and when you push the button on the battery inside it would light up! One of the coolest costumes I ever had. I also had the genie Shazzan, and it did the same! Damn our childhood was good!
Oh yes--I remember being literally "worried" about missing Ultra man--and if he would save the world this week!! LOL!! I remember telling everyone to be quiet this was "serious" stuff!! LOL!! Thanks for the memory!
By doing this you get all the Japanese versions but the US audio is shot as they used audio tracks from bootled video sources which are incomplete. I know, I compared it. The english drops out into japanese and back again at some points.
I don't know all of the ins and outs. All I do know is that I have 3 DVD's with Ultra Man (my favorite show when in grade school) and I have Giant Robot too. They look good, but have no info on or in the boxes themselves. I am just glad for the memories they bring.
@junkboxfilms Why not buy the new dvd set? (Ultraman: The Complete series) that has at least some info on it. The whole series is on 4 dvd with some cool extras :)
