Fantasia is a vocal BEAST! I never realized this. I always thought she just screamed, and growled. But, she just have a distinct voice & unique, distinctive, raw was of singing. But, after watching her show on VH1, it change my perception on her, and now I love her more, and her vocals more than I used too.

NOT TRUE. If you watch her live Lady Marmalade performance she belts a crystal clear G5 and holds it with vibrato. She can sustain her upper notes really well. Also, Diana was great too but there is a reason why Fantasia won. She was the best :) All of Fantasias F#5's G5's G#5's and A5's are so powerful and clear. Diana can belt well too though!

Now listen to how "comfortable" she is from F#3-F5. Her lower notes, not so much. That's a mezzo. And people will complain about her upper register and how it sounds but....that is tradition gospel like "sqaulls". Now she might overdo it a lil, but it is sincere coming from her and within the framework of the songs she sing. She is great. Like I said, she puts her "signature" into every song vocally.

Tasia is a Mezzo, guys. The 2nd Best vocalist of her age group(Behind that creole woman who used to front a girl group. LOL). I love her voice because it is so sincere. It is not the "prettiest sounding voice" but it works for her and it is unique. When Tasia is on a track, YOU KNOW IT. And she has good range. She probably don't have much of a upper HV range but that not her lane. But her chest/mixed range is great. When she learns more about her craft, watch out!!!!

Actually Fantasia is using her voice better than ever. heck out her performance of 'Lady Marmalade' and 'Somebody Loves You Baby' at the Evening of Stars Tribute to Pattil labelle Concert here on youtube! In Lady Marmalade she sustains a G5 with crystal clear clarity and even belts a Bb5!! She is really going all out his time around. I love Fantasia! She really has that soul and voice you cannot deny :)

Oh I agree. Of their age group, they are #1 and #1a in terms of the best female vocalists in the industry. Different vocal stylings but great at what they do. Bey has more understanding of her voice, but Tasia probably connects better with her material as a vocalist because of her timbre and passion.

To say that Beyonce is better than Fantasia would be saying A LOT. Fantasia is more emotive and passionate and Beyonce has more technical attributes, she really is fancy with her vocals. Fantasia is more raw and does her own thing, she doesn't really care to sound technically skilled even though she is. Beyonce does more runs but Fantasia brings her gut to the table and I HAVE NEVER seen Bey perform like Fantasia. Its a matter of preference, I love them BOTH but what Bey does tasia don't need to

I just love the tone of her voice, sometimes she sounds like she's singing lower than she actually is, I'm genuinely surprised that her lowest is a D3, sometimes she sounds like my baritone. I think we're going to hear more of her range with this next record, her recent performances indicate she's pulling all the stops since her surgery and is celebrating her instrument in it's entirety.

You're right, for anyone who listens to Tasia as much as I do can tell that whoever hit that G doesn't even have the same tone as Tasia, they're clearly two different voices. I actually think that we might see her range increase, after that throat surgery I guarantee she's taking some formal lessons to keep her voice in good shape, when she learns how to control that air she's going to be even better. She can definitely hit soprano when she wants to, she reaches F5s outta nowhere with transparent ease. I think her range would increase if she trained as an opera singer, she's clearly got a gifted instrument. Like Mary J. Blige, like Aretha, like James Brown, Fantasia can mimick different instruments with her voice, she can do a flute, a horn, I think she sometimes does a good "saxophone" when she's in her soprano. She scats, she growls, she wails, she croons, she squalls, she's just bad ass.

Her "sound" is a horn. Metallic sounding when she does higher notes but I love it. Like I said, she puts her signature on a song. She owns them like Al Davis owns the Raiders. She's great.
