Thanks! The definition what is "good music" changes from time to time. Every piece of Pop song today stands the same chance of becoming a "classical masterpiece" few hundred years later, provided it is appropriately arranged and has a melody nice enough for ppl to remember and cherish.

The difference of music genres often significantly lies on the arrangement of the song such as the instruments used, style of drum beats, rhythms, etc., rather than the melody itself. So if I take the melody and insert my own arrangement in it, it could become a totally different song. Hence, as long as the song has an affectionate melody, I wouldn't really care what target group the song was originally written for. Because the feel and tone can be changed by means of arrangement, if I want to.
