Ogre3d is not an entire game engine, it is just a rendering engine. Things like input (mouse+keyboard), sound, and gui apis are not included. There are plugins available for these things but they are not included by default. If you're interested in learning game development then C++ and Ogre are definitely the way to go (especially C++).
A question, can you tell me which demo or sample it is, with the pool having the fish in it in the room. There are some ogre statue heads as well. It looks really cool, i want to see the source code for it.
These are just the standard examples included in the Ogre package.
It makes no sense to run them under Windows@VMware because Ogre runs perfectly on Linux.
I wouldn't suggest VMware either as a 3d testing platform because it isn't 100% perfect and if 3d development is your job then you can probably invest some money in real hardware...
hey how did you get this to work with ogre and i wanted to know exactly what to use. i am into game development and cant decide on what engine i want to use.
How come hdr and gaussian blur aren't in ogre 1.7.2? Where can i find them?

Ogre3d is a Graphics Engine.
But you can use Ogre3d to create your own game engine.
