If you are old enough to have grown up on the movies of the 80's, this scene seems much more like a typical Tarantino tribute, in this case to Cat People, than anything else. Bowie/Moroder wrote the piece to Cat People and there is probably no other movie that better fits it. I was up in the sky when I saw it reinvented in Inglorious, but because of nostalgia not originality. Tarantino probably means it as a tribute to Paul Schrader's universe mystique. /watch?v=pBkmPZWH4KA
It's not that I feel foolish for liking what I like; it's ... complicated. I WOULD normally think that a song like this and a scene like this would make a perfect match. I feel foolish because I can't explain why I don't and because I can't be satisfied with how Tarantino put it all together. I'm hoping to land a career as a film scorer someday, so the analyst in me wants to see every detail of, and solve, the solution. But it can't. 8^ L
Personally, I wish this scene was put to the Roseland NYC Live version of "Humming" by Portishead. I myself am surprised, though, that I don't like "Cat People" with this scene. I feel like I should like it, but I just don't.
@MrMickthemonster Thank you for not trolling -- and I do see the aesthetics of the Bowie song. I feel kind of foolish for not appreciating it as is. ~~~~
Thank you for the upload, exactly what I was looking for. ....and yeah the movie is a real masterpiece, unless you don't get the point. Well if you don't get the point, well...then you don't get the point. ....brilliant scene whatsoever! And of course very good choice for the music :)
The moment she steps out that door and peers over the railing was priceless. She just had this elegant yet vindictive look that said "You're all fucking dead."
best scene in the film and nowhere to be found in its original form anywhere, either the picture is changed to a montage or the music was changed to something useless.
So sad. No wonder so many people hate Tarantino, they dont get his movies even a little bit.
@LaNague Also, the only people who hate Tarantino's movies don't know anything about movies. I'm sure it would've won the Oscar for best picture if the Kings Speech wasn't in the line up. This movie is by far my favorite. I love all his movies except Death Proof.
@yrmom724 meh, I didn't MIND death proof but hostel 1 and 2 were total abortions. I think that was Tarantino trying to do grindhouse but it just didn't work. He totally redeemed himself with the Basterds though. WOW!
@yrmom724 You did a wonderful job with this. Thank you very very much! How about something with Pulp Fiction or any other movie you care to do--I'll subscribe! Love music and movies so much
Moments like this prove to me that women are just as beautiful today as they used to be back in the time...today they just wear the wrong stuff....

Can you put the version with the dialog too? I'd love to watch that scene again (with the dialog)
