If you are old enough to have grown up on the movies of the 80's, this scene seems much more like a typical Tarantino tribute, in this case to Cat People, than anything else. Bowie/Moroder wrote the piece to Cat People and there is probably no other movie that better fits it. I was up in the sky when I saw it reinvented in Inglorious, but because of nostalgia not originality. Tarantino probably means it as a tribute to Paul Schrader's universe mystique. /watch?v=pBkmPZWH4KA

It's not that I feel foolish for liking what I like; it's ... complicated. I WOULD normally think that a song like this and a scene like this would make a perfect match. I feel foolish because I can't explain why I don't and because I can't be satisfied with how Tarantino put it all together. I'm hoping to land a career as a film scorer someday, so the analyst in me wants to see every detail of, and solve, the solution. But it can't. 8^ L

Personally, I wish this scene was put to the Roseland NYC Live version of "Humming" by Portishead. I myself am surprised, though, that I don't like "Cat People" with this scene. I feel like I should like it, but I just don't.

@LaNague Also, the only people who hate Tarantino's movies don't know anything about movies. I'm sure it would've won the Oscar for best picture if the Kings Speech wasn't in the line up. This movie is by far my favorite. I love all his movies except Death Proof.
