One thing I like about these shows is that it asks the tough questions of what might be out there. I believe there is more out there than we have yet found. That includes on earth, in space, and altered plains of existence.
I don't know if I believe it or not but I have seen some strange "things" in the deep woods. I've seen a hole with a stick in it as if something were digging with the stick. Another time I saw two deep holes side by side that were quite obviously dug out and not a natural occurence. This was in an area where there was no human traffic. Not saying one way or the other, but it is rather curious.
There out there in 1979 while camping at 9500ft my girlfriend and I had the horrible experience of watching one literally tear our beloved golden retreiver-maxwell into a twisted torn-apart corpse-we were 10 feet away when it happened and it was no bear because I have hunted bear all my life.I put 10 22cal rounds into it with my ruger 10/22 and all that happened to it was it gave us an annoyed look and trotted away-i'm just sorry they did'nt have video cameras back then.

Dr. Krantz's point is highly logical: if the species is not proven (and there is only one left) than it doesn't really matter if it becomes extinct. (Assuming its reproduction is sexual; which is a pretty safe bet with mammals.) It makes more sense to (as one of the Bigfoot hunters said) to kill one for identification and then legislation (including habitat protection) can be passed to protect them. But that is unlikely as long as the species remains unproven.
I can't stand it when people don't think about the consequences of their actions. Why would someone want to kill something that has done nothing wrong. If the creature wants to communicate with us I don't think it wants voilence involved.
I don't think anyone relishes the idea of doing it, but if you could kill one and possibly pass legislation to save the rest it would make sense to me. Not only from that standpoint but from a(n) scientific view as well: such a discovery would be monumental.

I think Dr. Krantz is correct...if the last were to die if the even exist...so what? I was never proven to exist in the first place. I live in the area where most of these sightings took place, and if there are so many sightings, where are remains or solid evidence?
i think it is simple, tranquilizers. Get a party of a few hundred people all organized, hunters love that shit... but load em with tranq shots, not live ammo. We don't even need to keep the thing, just put a tracker on it, alien implant style.
so you can take all the proof you need, let it go back into the wild. If you end up needing physical evidence, you can always track it.
That has been considered. However, critics of that question that if the dose of tranquillizer is to much it may kill the creature. Then if the DNA suggests that the creature is human then the hunter may face murder/ manslaughter charges. But who knows. Perhaps scientists or a veteranian should give the dosage.
Nice to see these shows again. I was born in 1971 so I was pretty young when these originally aired. The mood music during the shows always spooked me as a kid, now it just sounds like some fusion musicians on acid were let loose in the studio for a couple hours.
Bigfoot is a paranormal entity. He doesn't exist naturally in our space/time state. It crosses in and out just like ufo phenomena. Sounds hard to believe, perhaps, but if one starts immersing him/her self in the literature of ufo's, monsters, or paranormal activity, you will begin to see correlations that are impossible to ignore. And to say the Yeti exists but not Bigfoot doesn't make sense as there is a lot more evidence for Bigfoot, and the idea that all Bigfoot witnesses are liars, but Yeti witnesses are all truthful is ridiculous. @Elhardt I didn't say Bigfoot doesn't exist. They recently discovered 100,000 gorillas in the Congo that was right next to human civilization and was unknown by the people for several hundred years. So, I wouldn't be surprised if Bigfoot exists. I just don't think the evidence is as good as the evidence for the Yeti. Some of the testimony is certainly compelling, not as much as it is for such a creature in Asia or the Amazon. In fact, there's very strong evidence for dinosaurs in the Congo.

I don't know if I believe it or not but I have seen some strange "things" in the deep woods. I've seen a hole with a stick in it as if something were digging with the stick. Another time I saw two deep holes side by side that were quite obviously dug out and not a natural occurence. This was in an area where there was no human traffic. Not saying one way or the other, but it is rather curious.

There out there in 1979 while camping at 9500ft my girlfriend and I had the horrible experience of watching one literally tear our beloved golden retreiver-maxwell into a twisted torn-apart corpse-we were 10 feet away when it happened and it was no bear because I have hunted bear all my life.I put 10 22cal rounds into it with my ruger 10/22 and all that happened to it was it gave us an annoyed look and trotted away-i'm just sorry they did'nt have video cameras back then.

I remember when this program was coming out with new episodes every week back in the early-mid 70s. The Bigfoot hype back then was very strong. To this day I am still not convinced Bigfoot is real, or not. I just don't know. I hope its never proven one way or the other. The legacy and scariness of the whole deal is what keeps it exciting.

Dr. Krantz's point is highly logical: if the species is not proven (and there is only one left) than it doesn't really matter if it becomes extinct. (Assuming its reproduction is sexual; which is a pretty safe bet with mammals.) It makes more sense to (as one of the Bigfoot hunters said) to kill one for identification and then legislation (including habitat protection) can be passed to protect them. But that is unlikely as long as the species remains unproven.

The defense that "it may be the last sasquatch in existance" is flawed. It wouldn't matter if it got shot if this were the case, because it would not have a mate to produce offspring and is essentially extinct already. Why not take a chance to catalog and study the creature before it's lost forever?
However we can assume higher numbers, due to the sightings all over North America and the world. I fear that finding one would cause a panic and a manhunt on a massive scale. Not good either.

That's trophy hunting, not science - these people smelled money. If it exists and someone brings one in, even if they didn't kill it we would have altered the creature's fate utterly, and we'd better be prepared to protect its habitat and respect its rights. If people hunt for Bigfoot, I think they should also be interested in and contribute to the welfare of known apes, or else they're just irresponsible, suffering from "mystery-itis" and would soon lose interest in an American ape/hominid too.

i think it is simple, tranquilizers. Get a party of a few hundred people all organized, hunters love that shit... but load em with tranq shots, not live ammo. We don't even need to keep the thing, just put a tracker on it, alien implant style.
so you can take all the proof you need, let it go back into the wild. If you end up needing physical evidence, you can always track it.

That has been considered. However, critics of that question that if the dose of tranquillizer is to much it may kill the creature. Then if the DNA suggests that the creature is human then the hunter may face murder/ manslaughter charges. But who knows. Perhaps scientists or a veteranian should give the dosage.

Bigfoot is a paranormal entity. He doesn't exist naturally in our space/time state. It crosses in and out just like ufo phenomena. Sounds hard to believe, perhaps, but if one starts immersing him/her self in the literature of ufo's, monsters, or paranormal activity, you will begin to see correlations that are impossible to ignore.
