  • Fantastic, interesting video! What was the most valuable item you ever found? Just curious.

  • what detector are u using?

  • LOve the vid matey love how you presented it and in very good quality as well it does not matter what you find its the fun of the hunt thats what counts. Thanks for sharing :)

  • @baldfatgit1 its looking like a Minelab E-Trac 1,564.00 retail very nice detector.

  • sloppy banjer pickin...

  • a bunch of stupid pennies

  • Sounds like a raped ape.

  • how much was your detector

  • 30 Quid for a sandscoop!??!!! I'd buy a plastic pitcher. Then I'd drill a bunch of holes in it smaller than the smallest common coin or ring. Bob's your uncle.

  • Wall-E <3

  • Hello there, is this legal in UK or not ? coz im very interested to this thingy :)

  • what type of detector are you using?

  • Well made enjoyable film, inspired quite a few people to follow suit no doubt, please make some more when you get chance, good luck and keep it up,the BBC needs something like this.

  • This video was professional quality.

  • loser

  • Pretty cool.

  • @guyNbluejeans I bought a plastic scoop at a horse feed store and drilled holes in it myself.

  • @MrBearacudda Great idea, thanks!!

  • hi garik, i see you have changed your diging tool, can you tell me why please, thank you :) ps my missus loves your videos and voice :)

  • LOL HIS GOT FLECKTRAN CAMO (GERMAN CAMO)

  • Also, you're meant to hand the ring in. Bear in mind that I have been convicted in court for "theft by finding" for not handing things I found in. I'd still have kept it though! :)

  • It's like watching BBC1. Less clunky if anything!

  • Whens the CD coming out? LOL those sounds are crazy!

  • Nice video!!! Greetings from the deep south. Relic hunting here in Louisiana mostly. I do a little beach hunting but not too much. Picked up a few tips from you....thanks.

  • What did he say at 0:20? It sounded like "attacking the jews" but what did he actually say?

  • @Rocktecho He said Attacking the Dunes ( as in sand dunes)

  • Great Beach Vid!!! Congrats! sub'd your channel...

  • In your opinion, what is the effective depth of this device ? Does it detect objects that are more than a few feet down?

    Thx.

  • nice video! thanks for sharing! :)

  • theres a dude who finds hammies and roman coins over there, plz go there

  • Instead of paying $20-30 for that perforated scoop, you could simply cut some holes in a plastic pitcher. Save some of that $ you find!

  • Awesome finds, and thanks for the tips

  • looks like a germany army jacket.

  • Comment removed

  • What do u do with the coins there man? Do you clean them and try to sell em? I am going to get one of these soon and walk the beaches of Florida after spring break and hurricanes.

  • enjoyed the video ,well done on your honest video .

  • where to buy a device like this

  • would you recomend this machine for night hawking only my mate said its good with the dark nights

  • Time to go buy a metal detector!!! :)

  • enjoyed your video! highly realistic and entirely credible.

  • im a sloppy detectorist lol

  • attacking jews at the top of the beach

  • I like this don't think it justifies a £1000 detector though

  • @DeeManSony justification is in the eyes (and hands) of the user

  • Let's see...150 coins in 4.5 hours. That's 33 coins per hour. If it takes 30 seconds to retrieve each coin (very quick, but you have a plastic sand scoop) then you spent 16.5 minutes of the hour in digging so you had 43.5 minutes to actually find the coins. You found a coin every 1.3 minutes. If you'd dug two junk items per coin (49.5 minutes digging per hour's search)that would equate to finding a coin every 20 seconds. Hmmm...high quality vid, what kind of detector btw?

  • Great Video, waiting for the spring as it's far too cold and icy here until about May. will keep in touch and show you my Spring finds,

  • the little "french" coin that you found is not french but a 1970's-2000's spanish peseta.

  • What do you do with all the coins you find?

  • Why is there do much older money? Surely most of it would be money that people have dropped on the beach, the tide comes in and it gets covered up?

  • If I would have found this much any day I would never stop. I was out 2 hours on the beach a few days ago and all I found was alot of pulltabs and 1kr = 0,2€ = 0,15$ = 0,1£

  • good video, well done in finding so much coins.

  • please all check my video and help :)

    ps:nice video.

  • haha 300 dollar metal detector then you find like 15 pennys and say oh fuck it this takes too long

  • we've found shedloads of sixpences on that beach :)

  • how about dig 1 meter hole 1meter wide and search there - you may find something much older

  • sounds like wall-E having... fun

  • @RabidDog51 agree :)

  • £20 !! you could have made one out of a milk carton , doah

  • good job mate from the states

  • Thanks for posting this video, I agree with your idea that it's best to clear the beach of trash, it makes it safer for everyone by reducing cuts on people's feet, also for children as they dig sand for making sand castles or burying each other.

  • I hear a nerf vortex whistling , hehe. That metal detector does some cute talking . I LOVE that sound it makes

  • I wanna go to wherever D day happened and use one metal detector

  • Nice video mate! was thinking about buying a metal detector myself soon as i have recently moved to the south coast. Anywhere you recommend in that area?

  • really good video thumbs up if agree!!

  • Great video mate, high quality, good narration and most of all you have inspired me :) Ill check out the rest of your video's, then no doubt blow the rest of the night researching and watching more videos!!

  • The plastic sand scoop is a great idea. Thanks, we do learn something new everday.

  • ~ Nice video ~

What brand dectector do you use & recommend?

Do you use a different detector on the beach as you would use in a field?

I am looking to get a nice all-purpose detector & am looking for some advice as to which brand & model to get.

    ANY info would be appreciated.

  • what is the greatest sort of thing you can find doing this? I've always wondered when i see someone on the beach, what exactly is he looking for?

  • fake

  • @munkirinch

Loads of these videos and they all feature the same manufacturer.

  • Nicely done. Thank you for the time and effort you invested in this video. Educational and inspiring. I think many people who watch this will want to do the same thing. First class.

  • get a scoop with a long handle, my back hurts just from watching you

  • Do u have any thing military stuff for sale I will pay top dollar

  • As i see here the beach of coins :)))

  • Hello, great vid. I have just stumbled on this video accidentally but was staying in Exmouth for a week from 27th August and saw a man with a metal detector on the beach, must have been you! Good luck and happy detecting!

  • hi gary great vid what do u think of the garrett 250 as a starter machine its about what i can afford to pay cheers

  • @willpower3663 Get yourself a C Scope CS990XD - you won't go far wrong and it can be used on wet sand as opposed to a ACE250 which can't with difficulty.

  • R2D2, is that you? sorry had to be said :P

  • cannot believe you paid that much for a plastic scoop, maybe five bucks at the dollar so, anyhow, great video, and i think Holland is a wonderful place.

  • cannot believe you paid that much for a plastic scoop, maybe five bucks at the dollar so, anyhow, great video, and i think Holland is a wonderful place.

  • you can hear a vortex being thrown at 1:20

  • STUPID STUPID VIDEO I RATE IT A -100

  • This has to be the best beach video ever... well done gary

  • Well I am here in the US and just getting started in MDing. This has been one of the best videos I have watched where the beach technique you are using makes so much sense. When I ordered my detector I went with a plastic scoop because of this video and the way you scoop and then use the detector to see if you have your target in the scoop. Will get my first beach chance in early October along the East Coast. Hope items Irene churned up have not all been found by then. Thanks for sharing.....

  • see MY HOMEMADE LONGHANDLED BEACH SCOOPS

  • What happens if you people find everything :s when ill be older, then there will be nothing for mee.....

  • Take his jacket and RUNNNNN

  • Hello, I am 19 years old and i want to learn how to use a metal detector. What metal detector would you recommend for a newbie like me ? Hope to hear from you.

  • @kingtekzz Go online and check KELLYCO...they have a great supply of metal detectors and they are located in Florida...They have great bargains too for the newbie to the professional...The last one I had was a Fishers. The next one I get will be a GARRETTs... Good luck..

  • @Successfulman5229 Thanks Alot Sir.

  • people over there run so fast

  • DO U SELL THE ITEMS OR DO U KEEP THEM FOR YOUR COLLECTION???

  • excellent technique

  • нормально покапали но Excalibur - лучший на пляже.

  • Great video.

  • i want to go to the beach with my detector too . looks like lots of fun !

  • Excuse me, I meant that "1956" half crown.

  • Is that 1953 half crown a silver coin? My apologies for not knowing much about your pre-decimal currency. Jim USA

  • Are you local to exmouth? As a newbie to metal detecting I've never had much luck on beach's and would love some advice and tips.

  • @zane1os Beaches are the place to find gold jewelry dude

  • garylq- Great video I like how you took the time to show and explain some technique as well as the typicl show and tell bit. Question for you, at "10:05" in the upper left hand corner of your finds a buckle comes into view. The top of said buckle is shaped like a heart and the center piece is in an arrow shape. Do you have any idea what that is from? I found one identicle to that in Wisconsin, USA. Thanks and I subbed ya!

  • ive found gold on the beach cant beat that

  • ive found gold

  • Whats this about attacking the Jews at the top of the beach?

  • I could only afford the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. I realise it's cheap but found some coins the other night on the beach. Nowhere near the amount of your find though. Didn't think about different times as in after the high tide. I'm now even more inspired to refine my skill. Good idea with the plastic scoop, I'll go get one now. Keep more videos coming.

    All the best

  • 30 dollars for a plastic scoop? They sure seen you comming.

  • @willichap7 im sure if your friend was hassling you to rent that for the day for 50 cents it'd be no problem. but 2 months of use & u already spent over 30 dollars. & that thing has lasted him years. you can save alot of money & have some real good quality stuff thinking this way

  • lol look at the girl in the back running back in forth on 3:11

  • Great video! look forward to watching more. Love your history!

    Best, Chris

  • cant wait to start this new hobby. Theres so much to metal detecting though, idk where to start! I'm thinking about getting the Ace 250. It looked like a good metal detector that was easy to use, and wasnt a piece of junk. I have been fascinated by treasure hunting my whole life. Now that I am older, I'll finally be able to afford my very own piece. Awesome video, and awesome finds. Keep hunting!,

    Chris

  • u dont have to show us the pennies were not stupid we know what pennies look like show us good stuff like gold or gold rings or anything that we havent seen

  • 0:18 "attacking the jews on the top of the beach"

Btw garylq whats the metal detector you've got? any tips? I want to get into this hobby.

  • @Dercommandingofficer

    Lol, i heard that aswell.

  • Very good vid, thanks for posting. The high-quality image makes it all the more interesting; I'm all fired up to get back into detecting after a 25 year interval! The biggest issue now is what detector to buy~

  • I do have to say, between beaches, tot lots, grass fields and dirt areas. Beaches seem to produce much more for amount of effort. Using a sand scoop even on wet sand is much faster than cutting plugs.

    Great video, thank you!

  • My eyes are wide open watching all those finds. A great hunt. I hope you like my vidz also. Greetz. Marc

  • Did u no: u can put old coins in a coke / a glass of coke and sleep wake up and it's shiny try on a 2006 penny 1st just in case
