hi.All I can say is, that natually is the 'g' and the 'n' produced with the back of the tongue. So how is it possible to say 'gn' combined without using the tongue at all?
I can say eng in any number of ways. Each of them may be very similar, or very unique. This is what sound is. The sound of a wave in the ocean may be one sound if it is hitting rocks, or another sound if it is rolling onto the shore. It will be another sound if it is a typhoon.

Wow, you go girl. :) I will share anything. I have spent my life, from infancy, as a dedicated slave to what my ear hears.
Eng is no different than bing, or ding, or whatever. The trick here is a matter of ear. Not when spelling is concerned mind you, LoL but as a matter of sound.
The ear needs to be trained in years of infancy is best. Also, one needs to consider that humans, in general from birth, have a sensibility to sound, unless other wise threaded upon by an erroneous outside source. :)
Absolutely. The mother speaks, or even sings, and the baby in the womb hears resonance that flows through the mothers body. There are some days when I can sing with my voice resonating in my sinuses (buzzing especially behind my eyebrows), feeling no sensation in my throat and directing my voice to my nose, which results in an amazing tone and a "weightless" voice.
However, on other days, I can't seem to sing without triggering my throat, which frustrates the hell out of me.
Could this be because I'm not raising my soft palate high enough, or could it be that my breath pressure is too high?
Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I just went through a major move and am developing another website to help everyone. But I know the feeling. Basically, it's a matter of discovery about what works best for you. When you have trouble with the sound, stop and observe what you're thinking about or what's going on in your life. You'd be amazed at how much our daily life affects our voices.
Kinda whacky, huh? But there a method to my madness. I just finished an interview with a student that addresses the seeming silliness of what I do and how it works.

Sorry not to get back to you sooner. I've been in a major move and am developing a new website to help everyone more. I'll have a questionnaire out soon that you can answer to see if we can find out what's wrong.
It does change but why would you pinch your nose in singing? The air comes out of your nose and mouth so pinching off the air will pinch off the sound.

I'm truly sorry that you haven't found a way to use your mind and voice to encourage other people. I don't take offense by what you say but feel sad that you feel the need to say it. There are so many better ways for you to communicate to the world....you'd be happier too.
This is a very good video. This is the same exercise that my voice teacher makes me do. I have good resonance in my high voice, but in my middle voice I tend to sing from my throat, and it hurts my after I get done singing.. your videos are very well explained.. thank you.
Thanks. Changing voices registers is usually a challenge for everyone, with few exceptions. The best way I've found to approach the middle voice (or lower) is to make sure I don't let go of my breath support. Observe what's going on with your diaphragm as you go down. Strain usually comes from over-compensation for weak breath control.
So glad you like my lessons. I hope to make more. How many octaves you have really depends on how many notes up and down are comfortable for you to sing....evenly, without breaks.
Thanks. Did you know that singing actually releases endorphins? They are those feel good hormones that are also released when we exercise. Singing makes for happy!
hey i'm all new to this resonating thing. are you supposed to use it all the time when singing and at the moment when singing i get the buzzing in my head not all the time but alot. thanks check out my les mis vids
Sorry to take so long to answer you but it truly depends on what that song is and how you're approaching it. Think of muscle memory. If you are not using the muscles correctly, they develop in ways that are not as useful as when they are developed correctly.
Thanks so much. I truly love to share my knowledge with people who want to learn but may never get the chance otherwise. I hope you'll tell others about singbabysing!
lol this I found fun to do roflz. But a problem is...My brother said that when I sing it sounds as if I'm pushing out lots of air. Do you have any clue how I can stop that?
You need to learn how to use compressed breath to your full advantage. Read other users comments and my answers. Also, use the resources on my website for more help. Thanks...and come back soon!
Thank you for all your help, it is much appreciated. I have to start very low to feel the vibrations across my nose. I am worried if I am pushing my voice down. Also, my voice dosent come out of my mouth, its just kind of... inside. Am I making a mistake? please help me and please keep doing what you do. I love it.
I have a couple quick questions. When I do this, I have to start REALLY low to feel the vibrations across my nose and I am worried about pushing my voice down, what should I do? Also when I do this exorcise, I don't feel the voice coming out of my mouth as much as I feel the vibrations. In fact there is no sound coming out of my mouth its all kind of ... inside... Is that right? I cant thank you enough for all the help (and hope) your videos and yourself give. Thank You!!!
Dont worry about going too low or too high. As long as you don't strain your throat you'll be fine. And yes, it sort of feels as though no sound comes out because of how it feels inside. It sounds like you're on the right track to me.
I'm really confused! In the other video, the guy said that we should use the "head voice". What is head voice? Is it the high pitch voice (the one guys use when they imitate girl voice)? Is it correct to sing with that voice or my real voice (the one I talk with)? Thanks
Good question. Your head voice is also your real voice. It's 1 of the registers of the voice. Think about a guitar string. The thick strings make lower sound but as you press down on the string and go up the frets, the notes get higher in pitch. As you sing and go up the scale, your voice goes into a higher register, also known as the head voice. There's more but this is a simple explanation to start with. Here's an old saying: singing is your speech 1,000 times refined.
hello joy, I'm 16 but i have a very low voice and i like some other male singers that i notice are tenors. It just doesn't sound right when i try and sing along with there music. Do you think you could help me out?
I LOVE low voices. Don't try to sing like anyone else other than yourself. The voices we are given in life are unique and no 2 voices are the same. So use these techniques to develop your low voice and discover how to sing higher and lower within your comfortable range. Oh, and be sure to fill out my survey. Thanks.
hey, wow, i tried this exercise for only a few minutes and I noticed a big change, I have been singing for a few years and although I think I'm learning how to use my diaphram more and paying attention to breathing and head resonance....i still find myself using way to much throat, and also my notes come out very solid and on key and then waver in the end, and kinda putter out, no breath or power....
I just a response but YouTube didn't post it....again. Oh well, I'll try again. I'm happy to hear that these lessons are helping. What you're calling "way too much throat" can happen if you are pushing the air out instead of letting it out slowly. This is a common mistake and from what you describe, it sounds like that's what you may be doing. Use my dog pant and silly siren breathing exercises and be sure to visit my website.
I'm a 15 year old guy and i'm confused about singing through my voice change. I THINK that my voice is still changing, I mean it's norma pitch for my age when im talking, but when i sing, my voice is still shaky, my range is very limited and my voice cracks a lot. I just want to know if there is a way i can get a higher range right now or if i have to wait until my voice changes completely, or if it's that i just have a terrible range and my voice change has nothing to do with it.
Voice change can be really hard but I applaud you for writing about it. There are ways to get through the cracks and sometimes it's pretty amazing how big the range becomes after the change is complete. Everyone's voice is different, though, so it's hard to tell what your range will be. Remember always that you can do lots of easy things to help your voice during this time so take heart. You're doing the right thing by asking good questions.
Joy, how do I do tremolo? I'm getting this bad habit of naturally trying to makle it, since I can't ....onyl forecefull...so I use my diaphragm, which is bad massively bad...
what muscles in my voice do I contract so make that volume go up and down for that tremolo effect, with no loss in pitch.
Tremolo? Do you mean vibrato? Vibrato happens naturally as you learn to balance your breath when you sing. Not sure what you mean by the last part of your question. Volume doesn't really have anything to do with vibrato. Breath control does though. Have you worked with my breathing exercises yet?
Vibrato, when it's natural, gives the voice a rich full sound (I think what you mean by "waving/wobbly touch...not in a bad way." So yes, balancing the breath will help this process.
...yes tromolo and vibrato for instumrents as well are where the confusion comes in...I hear this rapid swell and diminishing of volume and thats what tremolo is.... most singers can use it liberally i can't find the technique and it sometimes happens when i lossen my diaphragm...
Muse - Starlight.
you only need to listen to the very last 3 seconds of this song to know what i mean!
Pardon me but what do you mean by the last 3 seconds of which song? You don't mean the last few seconds of this video lesson do you? I went to your YouTube channel but didn't find a song there.
no, sorry, it's that really professional technique, but not hard to do, once you know how i suppose, say you sing a plain not, then add this wobbling to it, tremolo/vibrato thats what I don't get how to do...
I've come a long way since I posted this on general singing since I am beginner, I can sing songs that nearly killed my throat from exhaustion and strain....still should start on these exercises though...well puffed out.
Forced vibrato doesn't work well. It adds an unnatural sounds to the voice. Keep working on the breath support and you'll continue to improve. Also, have you filled out my survey yet?
Start w/ THE most comfortable note u sing on AW & hold it as long as you can. Take a new breath, sing the same note but this time add the note a 1/2 step above it then alternate between the 2 notes. Take a breath, sing the 1st note again then the note a 1/2 step BELOW it. Alternate these 2 notes. Take a breath, sing the 1st note, then the 1 above it, back to 1st note, then note below, back to 1st note, then note above it, etc. - all on 1 breath. Keep adding 1 note at a time above & below.
i really LOVE singing... but ive NEVER done it proffesionally or never even been a main role in a school musical. But i REALLY want to. Do you think i should try getting some singing lessons or something? Because ive never had one in my life.. so im kinda just natural
When I trying to use the light vocals it sounds like I am hoarse, is it beacuse im in the age when one's voice changes (at puberty)? May that be my problem or is it that I can't contorl my vocal cord? Please I need some real advice from a expert or something...
Email me if you wanna give me a serious answer or else answer here. /Matheus
Voice change could be part of it, although sometimes a sound of hoarseness can come from too much tension in the throat no matter what age a person is.
Air will pass through the nose naturally. You just don't want a lot of it to pass through the nose or mouth when you're singing. Letting out as little air as possible gives you the most power. But you don't want to tense up over it. That causes other problems.
sorry i just posted a comment but i dont think it posted. could u tell me why i am getting a sore throat when singing? i dont strain it and its kind of like the roof of my mouth is hurting but not too bad. i have got a sinus infection is that why?
My answer never posted. This YouTube message service is great but it doesn't always work. I hope the sinus infection is gone and that you're no longer getting a sore throat.
i love singing But i keep getting a sore throat when i sing. It doesnt hurt when im actually singing but it just kind of hurts for a while after Its not bad. Kind of like the roof of my mouth is hurting could you tell me why? i have got a sinus infection at the moment could that be why it hurts? Because iv been singing for a while now its hasnt always done this i want to beable to sing without a sore throat all the time I dont strain my voice or anything either. its doesnt hurt to swallow.
I live next to the Forth Road Bridge. When I was a child, I wished to have an adult voice, so I cycled into the centre of the bridge where nobody could hear me
im told i have a good voice, and i sing in a few bands and write my own songs, but i dont really have a wide vocal range.
I dont know what its called but when try to go high, i cant sing as loud and clear as when i sing lower notes. It sounds quite crackly and i cant always get the right note. :S
What you're describing is normal and common. You can help yourself by first increasing your breath control. My dog pant and slow leaky tire videos will help, plus resources on my website, like "travel breathing." The 2nd thing is that your vocal range is comprised of what are called registers and going from one to the other (low notes to high notes, etc.) takes technique that will allow you to relax certain muscles as you tighten others. Y
I have auditions for a musical coming up soon, so my nerves are killing me! This was really helpful :3 I did feel pretty silly doing this, but it's good that no one else is home xD Thanks so much for the lessons!
Thanks, I'm glad it helped. Also, see my notes to Jenlyn77 in this comment section and try that too to help with your audition. What musical is it? I write new musicals in addition to doing these voice lessons. And lots of other stuff too, of course.
Laughter is really great for the voice because it loosens everything up and also utilizes the abdominal muscles that help with breath control. I'm really happy it made you laugh! That's part of the point and you got it!
Why does Youtube allow these sorts of unbelievably stupid voice lessons onto their website? These lessons don't even deserve the title of 'singing lesson', and teach our future generations how to be nobodies who think they are singers.
I didn't want to make you down, but your videos are showing singing lessons for millions of people, young and old. The things that you are showing are very wrong, and merely child's play. One of your videos where you showed how to arrange the tongue when singing is perfect and correct, but the rest of the exercises do not improve the voice at all. Yes, I am an opera singer and one of the best vocal teachers.
Lol one of the best vocal teachers according to who? Where are the clips of you singing? Why do the exercizes not improve the voice, and in what way are they wrong? I am genuinely curious and await your response :)
Thanks. See my dog pant and slow leaky tire videos plus my article called "travel breathing" on my website. Lots of other resources on my website too.
Lol! Great advice! It feels really silly to do, but I bet it works. It's probably also really good for stress management as well. But where on earth can you go where the the world won't think you're nuts? do you think it helps cure stage fright in some way? I sing really well but in front other of people I squeak like a mouse.
I agree with what you're saying and yes this can help cure stage fright. Try this with a trusted family member or friend. Tell them ahead of time what you're doing. Have them watch my video first then ask them to watch you as you try doing it in front of them. If they say something negative, don't ask them again. Get someone else to stand in as a supportive audience.
i have a question if i have to strain to hit high notes and my larynx raises which i hear is wrong but does that mean that those notes are out of my vocal range?
Not necessarily. If you work at these lessons for a consistent amount of time daily, your range should increase and the strain should decrease. Take it one note at a time and don't push your voice. Let it find it's own comfort zone. The larynx going up is a common thing that happens when people haven't figured out how to keep it down.
My singing teacher is italian and I am Norwegian and we are having terrible transelation problems.. But she say that my voice sounds closed inn when I sing. I don't know what to do, tell me, if I do this exersise right, have I come one step on the way to a non-closed inn voice? :(
So sorry to take so long. My computer is behaving strangely with YouTube and my keyboard would freeze up. I'm having to replace the computer and hope to write in a more timely manner. The closed in sound comes from tension in the throat and abdomen. Try to do your voice exercises lying flat on your back on the floor, closing your eyes. Pay close attention to what happens to the muscles in your throat, jaw and abdomen. Sing softly & slowly.
Another apology for taking so long to respond (see my note to CaptainGuybrush). Singing while moving can be improved by doing the one note exercise(added in lat Feb.) going up and down stairways, etc. Also, practice your songs when you're walking in your home from room to room, or going up and down staircases. Feel the intent of the character in your body as you express that character's thoughts and emotions.
Start with the breathing lessons I've posted, read everything you possibly can on my website and do all of these lessons at least 1-2 times a day for at least a month and see what happens to your voice!
Thanks for your kind words about my lessons. Exercises that develop your breath control are very important, as are exercises that cause you to gain control of your tongue and lips. Anything that helps keep the larynx down is good.
Do the 3 scale exercises and the dog pant, plus the slow leaky tire. There are others too...
Laughing is part of the lesson. I actually have a very powerful lesson I developed with laughter. It's probably the hardest exercise I've created but also one of the most effective. So keep laughing!
I laugh really much. And can get very high sometimes if it`s really funny does that help for my singing?! I`m starting a band with two friends but we don`t have a singer. I play guitar and would like to sing also because my hero is Matthew Bellamy from Muse. (He does both so) Could you give me some tips to become a better singer. Because now sometimes it gets a bit false :(.
I actually developed an amazing exercise that uses so laughing so I always say that laughing is great for the voice. I'm not sure what you mean by your getting false. Do you mean falsetto?
hi i have some trouble singing high notes and i read that if ur larynx raises ur doing it wrong but i cant help it is it neway i can stop it from raising or does it really matter
hi im having trouble singing high notes my larynx always raises and i read that if your larynx raises when u sing high notes its a sign theres tension and ur doing it wrong but i cant stop it from raising does that mean the notes are out of my vocal range?

I'm truly sorry that you haven't found a way to use your mind and voice to encourage other people. I don't take offense by what you say but feel sad that you feel the need to say it. There are so many better ways for you to communicate to the world....you'd be happier too.

This is a very good video. This is the same exercise that my voice teacher makes me do. I have good resonance in my high voice, but in my middle voice I tend to sing from my throat, and it hurts my after I get done singing.. your videos are very well explained.. thank you.
antha97 3 years ago

How can you know how many octaves does your voice have???
Oh and our videos are the best lesson videos on all of youtube!!!Thnx 4 posting this!
Nista95 3 years ago
So glad you like my lessons. I hope to make more. How many octaves you have really depends on how many notes up and down are comfortable for you to sing....evenly, without breaks.

Thanks. Did you know that singing actually releases endorphins? They are those feel good hormones that are also released when we exercise. Singing makes for happy!

hey i'm all new to this resonating thing. are you supposed to use it all the time when singing and at the moment when singing i get the buzzing in my head not all the time but alot. thanks check out my les mis vids
karlfrac 3 years ago
Basically, yes, we do want resonance in our voices all the time, except for those times that we want to do special effects.
singbabysing 3 years ago
I have a question, if you sing a beginner song every day for oh so 20 minutes, will your voice improve at all?
FallingRedRose 3 years ago
Sorry to take so long to answer you but it truly depends on what that song is and how you're approaching it. Think of muscle memory. If you are not using the muscles correctly, they develop in ways that are not as useful as when they are developed correctly.

I love it.
supermetroid91 3 years ago
I have a couple quick questions. When I do this, I have to start REALLY low to feel the vibrations across my nose and I am worried about pushing my voice down, what should I do? Also when I do this exorcise, I don't feel the voice coming out of my mouth as much as I feel the vibrations. In fact there is no sound coming out of my mouth its all kind of ... inside... Is that right? I cant thank you enough for all the help (and hope) your videos and yourself give. Thank You!!!
supermetroid91 3 years ago
Dont worry about going too low or too high. As long as you don't strain your throat you'll be fine. And yes, it sort of feels as though no sound comes out because of how it feels inside. It sounds like you're on the right track to me.
singbabysing 3 years ago
Hi Madame, I can feel the vibration in my nose, but from time to time there is a rough sound coming from out within. Am I doin it all wrong?
ghiberti 3 years ago
Sometimes the roughness comes from trying to push out the sound rather than release it. Try this laying on your back.
singbabysing 3 years ago
haha, that was the same for me. It seemed like I was doing that sound with any other part of my body except the voice, lol.
btw, thanks for this lessons, you are great!!

I'm really confused! In the other video, the guy said that we should use the "head voice". What is head voice? Is it the high pitch voice (the one guys use when they imitate girl voice)? Is it correct to sing with that voice or my real voice (the one I talk with)? Thanks
chichi593 3 years ago
Good question. Your head voice is also your real voice. It's 1 of the registers of the voice. Think about a guitar string. The thick strings make lower sound but as you press down on the string and go up the frets, the notes get higher in pitch. As you sing and go up the scale, your voice goes into a higher register, also known as the head voice. There's more but this is a simple explanation to start with. Here's an old saying: singing is your speech 1,000 times refined.
singbabysing 3 years ago
hello joy, I'm 16 but i have a very low voice and i like some other male singers that i notice are tenors. It just doesn't sound right when i try and sing along with there music. Do you think you could help me out?
abcditsandy 3 years ago
I LOVE low voices. Don't try to sing like anyone else other than yourself. The voices we are given in life are unique and no 2 voices are the same. So use these techniques to develop your low voice and discover how to sing higher and lower within your comfortable range. Oh, and be sure to fill out my survey. Thanks.
singbabysing 3 years ago
surveys? and thank you, you gave me a good self esteem boost :) And, i like that you try and get younger people into singing i admire that. peace...
abcditsandy 3 years ago
hey, wow, i tried this exercise for only a few minutes and I noticed a big change, I have been singing for a few years and although I think I'm learning how to use my diaphram more and paying attention to breathing and head resonance....i still find myself using way to much throat, and also my notes come out very solid and on key and then waver in the end, and kinda putter out, no breath or power....
what can I do?
Thanks for these videos by the way.
cheers
Jerome567 3 years ago
I just a response but YouTube didn't post it....again. Oh well, I'll try again. I'm happy to hear that these lessons are helping. What you're calling "way too much throat" can happen if you are pushing the air out instead of letting it out slowly. This is a common mistake and from what you describe, it sounds like that's what you may be doing. Use my dog pant and silly siren breathing exercises and be sure to visit my website.
singbabysing 3 years ago
I'm a 15 year old guy and i'm confused about singing through my voice change. I THINK that my voice is still changing, I mean it's norma pitch for my age when im talking, but when i sing, my voice is still shaky, my range is very limited and my voice cracks a lot. I just want to know if there is a way i can get a higher range right now or if i have to wait until my voice changes completely, or if it's that i just have a terrible range and my voice change has nothing to do with it.
dag0ld3ndrag0n 3 years ago
Voice change can be really hard but I applaud you for writing about it. There are ways to get through the cracks and sometimes it's pretty amazing how big the range becomes after the change is complete. Everyone's voice is different, though, so it's hard to tell what your range will be. Remember always that you can do lots of easy things to help your voice during this time so take heart. You're doing the right thing by asking good questions.

Joy, how do I do tremolo? I'm getting this bad habit of naturally trying to makle it, since I can't ....onyl forecefull...so I use my diaphragm, which is bad massively bad...
what muscles in my voice do I contract so make that volume go up and down for that tremolo effect, with no loss in pitch.
thanks
chrislpp 3 years ago
Tremolo? Do you mean vibrato? Vibrato happens naturally as you learn to balance your breath when you sing. Not sure what you mean by the last part of your question. Volume doesn't really have anything to do with vibrato. Breath control does though. Have you worked with my breathing exercises yet?
singbabysing 3 years ago
balancing would that not make your voice just be plane, as in just one loooong not?
just that sort of waving/wobbly touch...not in a bad way.
chrislpp 3 years ago
Vibrato, when it's natural, gives the voice a rich full sound (I think what you mean by "waving/wobbly touch...not in a bad way." So yes, balancing the breath will help this process.
singbabysing 3 years ago
...yes tromolo and vibrato for instumrents as well are where the confusion comes in...I hear this rapid swell and diminishing of volume and thats what tremolo is.... most singers can use it liberally i can't find the technique and it sometimes happens when i lossen my diaphragm...
Muse - Starlight.
you only need to listen to the very last 3 seconds of this song to know what i mean!
chrislpp 3 years ago
Pardon me but what do you mean by the last 3 seconds of which song? You don't mean the last few seconds of this video lesson do you? I went to your YouTube channel but didn't find a song there.
singbabysing 3 years ago
no, sorry, it's that really professional technique, but not hard to do, once you know how i suppose, say you sing a plain not, then add this wobbling to it, tremolo/vibrato thats what I don't get how to do...
I've come a long way since I posted this on general singing since I am beginner, I can sing songs that nearly killed my throat from exhaustion and strain....still should start on these exercises though...well puffed out.
chrislpp 3 years ago

/Matheus
Matheus222 4 years ago
Voice change could be part of it, although sometimes a sound of hoarseness can come from too much tension in the throat no matter what age a person is.
singbabysing 4 years ago
Whats the advice then? To drink more water or what? :)
Matheus222 4 years ago
Should no air pass through the nose?
PhoohPhah 4 years ago
Air will pass through the nose naturally. You just don't want a lot of it to pass through the nose or mouth when you're singing. Letting out as little air as possible gives you the most power. But you don't want to tense up over it. That causes other problems.
singbabysing 4 years ago
really?? cause when i sing i make sure that air will pass through my mouth

im told i have a good voice, and i sing in a few bands and write my own songs, but i dont really have a wide vocal range.
I dont know what its called but when try to go high, i cant sing as loud and clear as when i sing lower notes. It sounds quite crackly and i cant always get the right note. :S
Please help!!
beckywixon94 4 years ago
What you're describing is normal and common. You can help yourself by first increasing your breath control. My dog pant and slow leaky tire videos will help, plus resources on my website, like "travel breathing." The 2nd thing is that your vocal range is comprised of what are called registers and going from one to the other (low notes to high notes, etc.) takes technique that will allow you to relax certain muscles as you tighten others.

Miroswava 4 years ago
Sorry you feel that way. Are you a singer?
singbabysing 4 years ago
I didn't want to make you down, but your videos are showing singing lessons for millions of people, young and old. The things that you are showing are very wrong, and merely child's play. One of your videos where you showed how to arrange the tongue when singing is perfect and correct, but the rest of the exercises do not improve the voice at all. Yes, I am an opera singer and one of the best vocal teachers.
Miroswava 4 years ago
Lol one of the best vocal teachers according to who? Where are the clips of you singing? Why do the exercizes not improve the voice, and in what way are they wrong? I am genuinely curious and await your response :)

Lol! Great advice! It feels really silly to do, but I bet it works. It's probably also really good for stress management as well. But where on earth can you go where the the world won't think you're nuts? do you think it helps cure stage fright in some way? I sing really well but in front other of people I squeak like a mouse.
jenlyn77 4 years ago
I agree with what you're saying and yes this can help cure stage fright. Try this with a trusted family member or friend. Tell them ahead of time what you're doing. Have them watch my video first then ask them to watch you as you try doing it in front of them. If they say something negative, don't ask them again. Get someone else to stand in as a supportive audience.

i have a question if i have to strain to hit high notes and my larynx raises which i hear is wrong but does that mean that those notes are out of my vocal range?
rinu22 4 years ago
Not necessarily. If you work at these lessons for a consistent amount of time daily, your range should increase and the strain should decrease. Take it one note at a time and don't push your voice. Let it find it's own comfort zone. The larynx going up is a common thing that happens when people haven't figured out how to keep it down.
singbabysing 4 years ago
My singing teacher is italian and I am Norwegian and we are having terrible transelation problems.. But she say that my voice sounds closed inn when I sing. I don't know what to do, tell me, if I do this exersise right, have I come one step on the way to a non-closed inn voice? :(
CaptainGuybrush 4 years ago
So sorry to take so long. My computer is behaving strangely with YouTube and my keyboard would freeze up. I'm having to replace the computer and hope to write in a more timely manner. The closed in sound comes from tension in the throat and abdomen. Try to do your voice exercises lying flat on your back on the floor, closing your eyes. Pay close attention to what happens to the muscles in your throat, jaw and abdomen. Sing softly & slowly.
singbabysing 3 years ago
Hi. I'm trying to practice singing because I want to go for the peter pan audition.
The problem is, I can't sing while I'm moving around. Could you help me?
GCPunkSUM41 4 years ago
Another apology for taking so long to respond (see my note to CaptainGuybrush). Singing while moving can be improved by doing the one note exercise(added in lat Feb.) going up and down stairways, etc. Also, practice your songs when you're walking in your home from room to room, or going up and down staircases. Feel the intent of the character in your body as you express that character's thoughts and emotions.

i have an question!i have a good voice...but it's not strong...what exercises should i do?ps:10x for the lessons...they are great!
dungapeasfalt 4 years ago
Thanks for your kind words about my lessons. Exercises that develop your breath control are very important, as are exercises that cause you to gain control of your tongue and lips. Anything that helps keep the larynx down is good.
Do the 3 scale exercises and the dog pant, plus the slow leaky tire. There are others too...
singbabysing 4 years ago
Talk about silly, I don't doubt this helps your voice, but I felt stupid doing it. HAHA. I couldn't help but laugh at myself while trying it out.
St0pTheNoise 4 years ago
Laughing is part of the lesson. I actually have a very powerful lesson I developed with laughter. It's probably the hardest exercise I've created but also one of the most effective. So keep laughing!
singbabysing 4 years ago
I laugh really much. And can get very high sometimes if it`s really funny does that help for my singing?! I`m starting a band with two friends but we don`t have a singer. I play guitar and would like to sing also because my hero is Matthew Bellamy from Muse. (He does both so) Could you give me some tips to become a better singer. Because now sometimes it gets a bit false :(.

I actually developed an amazing exercise that uses so laughing so I always say that laughing is great for the voice. I'm not sure what you mean by your getting false. Do you mean falsetto?
