How can a college professor actually say that supporting civil liberties is a "far left" position? The Republican Party used to be the party of civil liberties and limited government. NDAA, the USA PATRIOT Act and so forth seem to be the totalitarian views of Soviet-leaning Democrats. That said, he would never be able to get most of his measures passed as too much entrenched power would be against it.
