J.D. sure can play the heck out of the piano. He makes a better JLL than Dennis Quaid. But he just doesn't have that volatile, dark energy Jerry Lee exudes. Or Jerry's originality. Nor the charisma. Nor the danger. Nor the sex appeal. It's as if J.D. is acting crazy, but The Killer IS crazy! That's one of the many things that make Jerry Lee so fascinating and...Unique.
Jason D. literally beats his piano into submission with a ferocious energy just Like Jerry Lee Lewis did for decades. If there's a person to carry the torch for Jerry Lee, it really should be Jason D. Williams. Jason paid his dues. He deserves it. He also can play beautiful classic piano as well. A very talented man indeed.
Saw Jason play a long time ago at a little place in Lafayette Louisiana. Still to this day it's the most frenetic hard pumping entertaining show I ever saw. It was just about non stop energy for the whole show.

Jason used to play at Sully's in Dearborn Michigan. Saw him twice. "Heavy Metal Piano" is how my friend described it. Would have missed it had the Soundgarden/Danzig/Corrosion of Conformity show not been sold out. Probably made out better with this one. Saw COC later in NYC and they were good too but...
