@kodisilver Usually a bigger (fatter) Rattlesnake is better. They're a lean creature so there isn;t really any fat to make the meat tender. I cooked the last one I ate on the grill for a few minutes and seasoned it with Asada marinade. it was good. Use whatever you usually season meat with but do it lightly. No it didn't taste like chicken.

It's slightly ironic that so many people are complaining about the humanity of skinning a dead snake. We breed animals solely for them to die, and often with 'inhumane' technique, then eat only the parts of them we deem to be 'quality', yet no one complains about that. Fur rugs, leather belts... Whatever. Stop fucking complaining. On a positive note, I learned a few weeks ago in Vietnam that fried snake skin is rather delicious, in case any of you are interested in an alternative to beauty.

Sorry, I'm a snake guy....imagine this with a dog or a cat....someone found a stray dog or cat, then beat it to death, and then mutilated it's body and pulled it's skin off. That's what it is like for me to see this. I think if you see a rattle snake or any kind of snake near your home, you should just leave it alone. @akendrum i have and have had young boys from the family running all over my property all the time. While they have been educated to be alert for rattlesnakes sometimes they get caught by surprise. If I had stray dogs and cats on my land threatening the safety of my family and friends I'd probably kill them, skin them and use the leather to make things as well. I'm at the top of the food chain. Rest assured. I don't just kill them for the skin. I eat them too.

@rose99012 A dog can kill a child or a person too. Most people who get a rattlesnake bite don't die. At worst they'd lose a limb. Rattlesnakes have hemotoxic venom. This means that the venom breaks down the flesh. Bu I'm from jersey where we seldom get rattlesnake bite victims and recently a man was bitten by a timber rattlesnake and went to the hospital.

@rose99012 Even here in New Jersey, he got the correct anti-venom in plenty of time and made a full recovery. If you get a chunk of flesh ripped out of you by a dog, you can't do anything about it. I don't know the statistics off hand, but I would bet that more people die from dog attacks than snake bites a year in the us. And your argument holds no water. And here is what you do if you encounter a snake in the wilderness: When you hear the rattle, calmly walk the opposite direction.
